A Sunday lunch outing... first meal out in weeks.. started well but as the meal went on I noticed tables being cleaned with same cloth used at other tables and chairs not wiped down.. Not a bottle of spray disinfectant in site.....neighboring table started drinking, one of the diners got closer and closer to our table... no social distancing here... then a loud version of happy birthday rang out from an inside room w people close to each other celebrating. Have all these people just landed from Mars? This was one of our states worst days for covid cases and people are still acting like this? Beyond reckless and dangerous. Do not go here until this virus is contained ❗️

Dinner was wonderful! Service excellent and we were seated at a table with a great view. Breakfast the next day wasn’t as good. Great table but the smoked salmon Benedict was cold and hot water for tea was lukewarm. Tea water got better after the third try. The waiter was nice but seemed too busy or inexperienced. Wonderful place though and will definitely return!

Patio view was excellent. Server was sweet and personal. Menu was very limited and many items were lunch type offerings and we joined you for dinner. Everyone had a difficult time choosing because we brought an excellent wine and wanted dinner choices. We will try you again and see how it goes.

We go to Pismo Beach several times a year and have driven by the Cliffs hotel and Marisol Restaurant many times.
This time we went to Marisol for dinner and had a great experience. The restaurant is beautiful, with a view of the Pacific.
The music was good and not too loud. You could talk and visit without shouting.
The hotel is beautiful too.
We noticed in the past that our favorite tour company uses this hotel as well, which is a good recommendation.
Our waitress, Miriam, was a delight. Friendly, cheerful and great service.
We will go back. And next time, might stay at the hotel too.

Yes, I would recommend Marisol to others. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. The lunch prices were competitive to my surprise. I had understood
the restaurant was "pricey". It was only my second experience at Marisol and I did
not see the dinner menu.

Our waiter Eric was very nice and hospitable. The 2 sides for the scallop entree were disappointing and the horseradish for the prime rib entree was scant, but the scallops, the prime rib, and the mashed potatoes and asparagus sides for the prime rib entree were terrific. Also, the bartender made my vodka martini as I had requested and the Cab wine (J. Lohr) with dinner was respectable.

I'm sure the view would have been terrific except we had stormy skies so could not see the ocean. It was our belated Valentine's Day celebration so I had made our reservations for 20 minutes before sunset. When we were seated by the hostess, it was a bit odd in that they were 4 tables directly in front of the view window yet we were seated at a small table in the corner, inches away from the only other couple in the entire restaurant! We rationalized that this odd seating choice by the (less than friendly) hostess was because there was no ocean view that evening and that the chosen table was next to the fireplace so it enjoyed that ambiance. So, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. But, her attitude towards us was not warm, almost as if we weren't welcome. Not a good trait for a hostess.

We made reservations through Open Table to celebrate a significant wedding anniversary, and noted this on our reservation. Asked for a quiet, romantic booth, preferably with a view of the water.

We arrived at the scheduled time, 6:30pm, and were seated promptly. The restaurant was mostly empty with a few parties dining at tables (one large party who was very loud).

We ordered cocktails from our server Luis and asked a couple of questions about the menu. We were told my wife's first two dinner choices were "not available", even though it was only 6:30, and the place was mostly empty. We had reviewed the menu on-line before our visit, and had pretty much decided what we wanted to order, but as indicated, my wife's first two choices were not available. I was expecting to order the bacon-wrapped filet, but noticed their special is the prime rib. The server told me he didn't like the red wine reduction on the filet, so I decided to order their special, prime rib. My wife order the sesame seared ahi.

My wife enjoyed the seared ahi, and the serving proportion was generous (my wife isn't a big eater, so it was more than she wanted). My prime rib was cooked properly to my taste, but the prime rib was about 60% inedible because it was filled with fat! The mashed potatoes were a big glob on the plate, not light and fluffy at all as expected, but like a big rock in the idle of the plate. As indicated, the prime rib I could eat tasted "OK", but all in all a very disappointing dinner. We shared a dessert, which was tasty.

Even though the restaurant was mostly empty, we had to flag down our server any time we wanted anything (like a refill on my wine!), and never once was our "special occasion" acknowledged. We weren't expecting anything "free", but an acknowledgement of our anniversary would have been nice.

We visit the area from time to time from Southern California, and this was a 2nd time here. Probably will not be back in the future.

Food was decent. Could have been better. Round table in patio was great. However chandelier needs a good cleaning. Covered in spider webs right above our food. Ambiance was great.

Some food items were tasty while others were awful. Not sure what’s going on with the staffing etc here. Use to be a fun spot. Now it feels like a dive bar.

I made a 6:30 pm dinner reservation for 2 on Valentine’s Day. Upon arrival just before 6:15pm, there was no line at the booth, and seemed interestingly quiet in the restaurant for Valentine’s, so I assumed we were going to be seated within 5-10 minutes. As the evening progresses 15 mins. in, we continues to wait, but sat down when the bench came available. I ordered my 2nd margarita 25 mins. in. We’ve noticed about 4-6 groups arriving after us were immediately taken in to be seated as we continued to wait. I asked why folks coming in after us are being seating immediately while we’ve continued to wait. They mention “our table” is not ready yet. They started to explain how Open Table has the seating reservations organized, which doesn’t make sense, so I asked to speak with a manager when their explanation for the delay was because the guests sitting at our table have been sitting there since 4:30pm and that they couldn’t get them to leave! We asked if they could seat us at any other table that’s available. Their response was that they couldn't because “all other tables are reserved for other guests.” We asked to speak with the Manager Kelly, who was very apologetic and tried to further explain how their very odd seating system was organized for this evening. Kelly managed to get “our table” ready for us.

When we were taken to our table, we saw 5 other tables empty. Only 2 couples later were seated after us for the rest of the evening. This doesn’t make sense, and we shared that feedback to Kelly. A couple at a nearby table heard our expression and mentioned to us that they were frustrated as well when they were waiting to be seated earlier on. They were given the same waiting game with the same excuse and motioned; “All these tables have been empty.” Overall experience was mediocre at best. Food wasn’t spectacular, but it was okay.

We were disappointed that neither the waiter nor the management was entirely unaware of the Sycamore Springs Resort’s Nifty Fifty offer which offered 50% off the 2nd entree at the Marisol. Nifty Fifty is a special offer at Sycamore that we have taken advantage of every year for the past four years. Communication between the management at the The Cliffs and Sycamore should be better.

Awful service and staff attitude. Showed up and was denied service as they blamed open table for making a mistake. They kept saying they would call open table. That’s all good and well but it doesn’t help me have a business meal after having driven 30 minutes across town to make the appointment. Even opentable didn’t help as they contacted me to complain that I hadn’t made the appointment! I guess resy will have to be the primary platform going forward.
