Marisol at the Cliffs Hotel and Spa
The Marisol was all I had hoped it would be. Lovely outdoor seating overlooking the ocean, very attentive and accommodating service, and delicious food. We had a regular full breakfast there one morning, and also the Sunday brunch another day. Beautiful, relaxing, and delicious!
Such a great experience. Our server, Steven, was amazing. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We loved sitting outside with the heater by us. There was a wedding outside so it was a tad noisy toward the end but we enjoyed the music that was playing. Food was outstanding, ordered the filet mignon and would definitely order it again.
Birthday 2 of party of 4 we sat outside watched sunset over ocean, our server Steve was fabulous, efficient and great sense of humor, fabulous food and wine.
Good food great view of the ocean
Great experience! Delicious food and atmosphere. The waiter also accommodated me and left out an item per my request from the pasta. We would highly recommend this place!
Great service, wonderful table looking out at the ocean, delicious Mai Tai bar beverages, and outstanding prime rib. We will definitely return.
Great ambiance. Awesome panoramic ocean view. Gorgeous sunset. Beautifully decorated and friendly but professional service.
I made reservations online with the message to be seated outside and a birthday celebration. When my party arrived there was no space. The rude and annoyed hostess told us she would call us when there would be a space. We waited for a long time and never heard from her. Lucky we saw friends sitting outside and could join their table.
Very unprofessional to take reservations online and not even honoring it, nor even call us the entire evening to seat us when seating started opening up. This is not customer service. I have been bringing all my out of town guests here the last month, this was a very embarrasing moment for me in front of my guests/clients.
The food was inconsistent. Some of our meals were delicious and some were mediocre. The half chicken was really two pieces of very fatty chicken with a lot of skin. But the seared ahi was delicious. The cuatro mare was good, just not great. The service was not great. It was slow and at the end the server told us she was leaving and we had to pay our bill very abruptly (the fastest thing she did). Most places I’ve been to the past in similar situations, servers have politely advised us that their shift was ending and asked if we could pay the manager or pay her co-worker. We were excited to come as we were celebrating two birthdays, but left with a flat feeling due to the server.
Great menu options, Valet parking, Ocean view, excellent food and service.
We normally have a great experience here. But Saturday morning buffet not good!
Overloaded front desk, kitchen, and staff. Manager was really nice. Have only been once, hard to say if this experience is normal. Hopefully not.
We reserved outdoor dining and we got the corner spot towards valet and ocean view. Beautiful sunset while dining. 25 minutes past our reservation time. Food was not worth the price but I think we are paying for overall dining experience. I ordered prime rib and was good not great. I asked for more of the special horseradish that was supposed to come with meal as they only spread a marginal amount on the plate. They sent me regular horseradish only. Wife ordered salmon and saffron rice. Definitely not worth the price. Salmon and rice was over cooked. Service was super slow. Busy night so understood. Overall I recommend only for outdoor views and ambience. Go somewhere else if you want great food.
We have been coming here for the past 9 years since moving to the area. One of our favorites for dinner, brunch, and happy hour. Great wine selection! Always great service and food! We love everything about this place! Scenery, ambiance, and food! Maybe one day we will stay in the hotel just for fun!
Fantastic food! I ordered the prime rib and I couldn't be happier with the portion and the pairing of the mashed potatoes and veggies. Steven is great and took care of us on our anniversary dinner. Thanks to the entire establishment for a great night.
It's been over two years since we were at Marisol...after two bad brunch experiences in a row.
We went, because our friends had hear about it and wanted to go.
We are glad we gave Marisol another try.
The seared scallops and The Marisol were prepared well and delivered hot and tasty. The Scallop potion (3), however was a bit skimpy. They really should have a portion size of 4.
If you like seared Ahi, please do try it.
Sunsets also beautiful.
This is my second time going to Marisol. I would definitely come back. The food was amazing and the service was great!
The food is always excellent!! The night was fabulous.....on the water, 75 degrees with no wind, watching the sun set....who could ask for a better evening. The waiter was terrible. He seemed confused and very disorganized on the drinks and the food order.
We were most impressed with our waiter. Willing and able to accommodate any eating restrictions we may have had. Sure wish you would have had the rib eye as a constant on your menu . . . my favorite! This was my fifth trip to the Marisol . . . 2 with friends and 3 with my husband. When in Pismo or Cambria, we ALWAYS make sure we have dinner with you. Someday we may even get to experience the hotel for a few nights.
Yes, however, if you are celebrating something special...check to see what other events they have going on. There was a wedding reception in a tent just below our table which interfered with our view of the ocean and sunset. It was also fairly loud.
Sunday brunch buffet was ok, not great. Service was great. Lots of champagne was poured, but I would rather pay a little more and get a better quality.
Always have dinner here when I’m in the area! Great restaurant!
As I do not eat animals, I made special requests on two items on the menu. They were honored without hesitation. I sensed this happens all the time. The views were wonderful. Cocktails well crafted. And meal portions were large. As sunset seems very popular, because of the views, reservations are a must. All in all, a wonderful dining experience.
We had requested a window with a view of the ocean as we were celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary. The only thing they had available was a large booth for six that had a poor view of some of the outside. The decorating is old and not nicely maintained in the restaurant compared to the lobby of the hotel. We were disappointed. The wine list was limited and our anniversary wasn't acknowledge in any way as it is at many other restaurants i.e. a free dessert. The only positive was the food was good and there were large portions so we took home half of our meals.
We won't ever go there again....sorry! There are too many other options that far exceed their offering.
Pretty disappointing experience. They sat us in a dining room that was mostly deserted so we were neglected most of the night. We had the "Prawns in Paradise" appetizer and it was great. The menu was very short and the options were few. My wife had "potato crusted salmon" which was basically a slab of salmon with hash browns on top. Not very creative but it tasted pretty good. I wasn't too hungry so opted for the burger. With all the fancy things that can happen with a burger, this was the biggest disappointment. I asked for it to be cooked medium. It was over cooked, dry, and so crunchy on the outside I couldn't eat the whole thing. The lettuce was wilted and it was just horrible. The service was as bad as the burger. It started off very slow and it got worse from there. They didn't clear our dishes when we were finished and we waited FOREVER to get our check and finally pay the bill. I was expecting it to be one of the better restaurants in Pismo but I was obviously wrong. Find another place to eat.
Food was poor and there was a new chef who burned an entree
The dining area was beautiful, and the server and host were friendly and attentive. The prime rib was disappointing - a combination of too much fat and gristle intermingled with some flavorful beef. The mashed potatoes had a little too much garlic. Having Doc Bernstein’s ice cream as a dessert choice is a plus. I had indicated that it was our anniversary on the reservation, but maybe they don’t do anything for special events.
OK so this place is great for any event! My bride and I sat outside. The atmosphere along the ocean was breathtaking! As the sun went down it became even better. We had an incredible meal with a wonderful bottle wine Watching a beautiful sunset!
Steve took very good care of us. When My bride got a little chilly, he quickly got a blanket for her so that she was comfortable.
From a pricing standpoint I thought it was a great value! Particularly when balancing the atmosphere, the food, the ambience, and the service. Will definitely come back again! Thank you Steve! Keep up the great work!
Enjoyed it very much. Waitress was very kind and attentive. Food was delicious and the atmosphere lovely.
Sunday brunch. I had reserved a table for 8 about 1 week in advance as we were celebrating a very special 60th wedding anniversary. I requested a table outside on the patio with a view closest to the ocean as possible. When we arrived, we were seated in the very back, a table in the corner with virtually no view. I mentioned this immediately to the hostess as I looked at all the empty tables towards the view and she stated that those were all reserved. Not acceptable.
SERVICE: Our "servers" were basically robots, no warm greetings, acted as though we were a bother and delivered slow service. For example, one person in our party ordered a coffee with cream. The coffee was delivered without the cream and after a few repeated requests for the cream, the coffee became too cold and was left on the table for the duration. Refills on iced tea, water and soft drinks were very slow and dirty plates were left on the table for an extended period of time. When the bill arrived, there was an automatic $69.00 tip added, (for large party), and we all felt that was outrageous considering all the "servers" had to do was deliver drinks and remove plates and they didn't do that well at all.
FOOD: Food was set up as a buffet. Presentation was nice and most of the food was tasty but kept warm and NOT super hot. Nice selection of small bite desserts, but nothing to rave about. Steer clear from the items labeled "Cheese Enchiladas" and the "Strawberry & Cream French Toast" - neither one resembled or tasted like an edible food.
BOTTOM LINE: $49 per person for a buffet breakfast is not super expensive. However, for this "champagne brunch experience", our party of 8 felt like we were taken advantage of, especially because we were ignored most of the time we were there. On top of everything else, our parents' 60th wedding anniversary went completely unrecognized which was the sole reason we chose this restaurant, with the spectacular view. Disappointing experience.
We went for our Anniversary dinner.
Food was subpar and service was very slow, despite being one of the only few tables in the restaurant.
Beautiful view tho!
Made res on app and was greeted at the host stand. Staff was great and accommodated is in a different seating area even evicted some people without reservations. They later joined us because it was a communal table and we were a party of three. The staff asked us first.
We have been here before and lined the view and food so much we went again. We were not. Disappointed - a silly as it seems the nachos were such a welcome improvement on others we had eaten on the trip they were quickly the favorite at the table. The other food we ordered was really good too. Bar service was great and the prices were a good value.
This was my second time at Marisol’s, my husband’s first time. The food was phenomenal both times & the ambience and views were absolutely breathtaking. The hostess was super sweet and we were seated quickly. Our waiter was only okay, functional, but didn’t check on us so we kept having to flag him down. Other than that, Marisol’s was amazing!!!!
The straight-out-the-oven bread they serve is melt-in-your mouth goodness. Rarely, do I indulge in wheat but deemed this worthy of partaking! I was rewarded for my choice. The salads we ordered were also memorable. The house balsamic vinaigrette was amazing. For our entree we each had the seafood special...halibut over creamed potatoes with bleu cheese and creamed fava beans, with broccolini. Often we choose bleu cheese as a salad dressing, but this cheese overpowered the potatoes leaving a strong after taste. Our Talley Chardonnay helped with that need. At the end of the meal, they treated me to their flourless, chocolate brownie and handcrafted vanilla ice cream in honor of my birthday. It put a fine finish on an enjoyable birthday celebration. The service was attentive and timely. The ambience was capable of transporting me to island memories in Hawaii. We dined at 5PM and had the dining room to ourselves until dessert. I definitely recommend Marisol to the enjoyment of others.
We Hana lovely dinner with the kids at this restaurant. The food was very good and healthy. The service was great.
Beautiful views! Good food and great service.
The manager was very thoughtful and congratulated us on our anniversary dinner. Our complimentary appetizer was delicious and we thank Mr. Wright for his generosity. The view is beautiful and the valet was complimentary as well, which was good because parking was virtually impossible. I will recommend this restaurant to my friends.
I came to celebrate my 65th birthday and it did not disappoint. The view was stunning. We sat next to the patio which was open to the entire inside dining room. Just enough shade from the setting sun but did not distract from the view. The service was impeccable. I normally do not eat Altantic salmon but
they did a great job of preparation that it was worth the choice. My companion had the prime rib and it was cooked to perfection. The had a riff on a Tom Collins that I think was even better than the original . All in all a wonderful birthday dinner.
Food was very mediocre. Avocado salad had no avocado. Seafood rice dish badly overseasoned. Sat at table long after finishing meal with our dirty dishes while watching busboy strip empty tables. Would never go back there.
