Portions were smaller than expected, extremely long wait time to get food, had to ask for drink and chip refills, and some but not all of the food items were not flavorful. We did have a large group, but at the time there was only one other table in the entire restaurant. Our server was friendly, but not overly attentive. We loved the atmosphere and decor, but sadly won't be returning.

3 of the 4 of us ordered fajitas - chicken, steak, shrimp. Chicken fajitas were ordered with no onions but came with onions, so caused a delay to have them remake. All three fajita dishes were incredibly salty; kitchen has a heavy hand with seasonings. Other person ordered chicken bowl and didn’t find that as salty as all the fajitas. Margaritas are okay. One person ordered the house marg on the rocks made with casamigos and received a glass of casamigos only on the rocks; the waitress was not super knowledgeable about bartending/drink orders. We all agreed the chips and dip trio with our drinks would’ve been enough for us - all the salsas, queso and guacamole were really good.. the portion sizes for that app are enormous and an extremely good value for the price.

Must have been an off night for staffing but service was horrible. After being seated waited over 10 minutes before we had to ask for a server. Requested glasses for beer and never got them until we had to stop a bus boy to get them. Food was ok. Don’t see going back soon. Can’t recommend on this visit experience

Great place to start your night in Newark. Really enjoyed the simple but tasty chips, salsa and queso. Mariposa Margarita at Happy Hour price was wonderful with a tasty dinner before the show.

Our service was excellent. Party of 6, served in a timely manner, food dropped in efficiently in coordination other servers. Frequent check-ins. Both food and drink were unique and tasty. Overall a delightful night for us and our friends. Highly recommend.

Mariposa is becoming our favorite spot in Newark. Walking in feels like home and we are always treated like family. It’s obvious that the employees all love their jobs, they get along and work great together (you don’t get that many places). Plus everything is made FRESH to order. We ordered the “Lenten” special, one of the best meals we’ve had there. Dos Equis beer battered cod, perfectly paired with Papas Rotas potatoes and delicious mixed greens with pickled onion and lemon vinaigrette dressing. Our party of 4 all ordered the same dish and there was not a speck of food left an out plates! I hope they offer this special every Friday!!

It’s always a great meal with friendly service and great margaritas!! It was family dinner night and Mariposa knocked it out of the park!! We will be back!!!
