In a cosy hole in the wall in West End. The service was fantastic with an excellent knowledge of the food and large drink selection. The food has an emphasis on high quality, simple ingredients, done exceptionally! Loved our evening and will definitely go back.

Suggested to us as we had enjoyed lunch at their Mexican restaurant a few doors down. And we were NOT DISAPPOINTED. A small menu, designed to be shared, and absolutely S.ensational. Generous serves. The Anchovy Bread and the Scampi as Entre signalled the EXCELLENCE in the kitchen in terms of design, presentation and flavour. Wow. Main course was the Prawn Paste. WOW WOW WOW.... matched with their sourdough (based on a 180year family yeast) ..... LOTS OF WOWS. Convinced to try Dessert, one shared by two. Did not disappoint. And a "digestive". We left the choice of wine to their wait staff, superbly matched to the above. In short, a fabulous dining experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We shall return. Mark and Theresa

Food was gorgeous. Anchovy bread beautiful. The service was hit and mis, sitting in front of empty plates for a while and took ages and two requests to get the bill. But would definitely try again.

Mario's is obviously a labour of love. We found out towards the end of dinner that some waitstaff had called in sick; the solo remaining waiter remained energetic and did his best to tend to everyone; sure some things took a little longer, but he didn't let his energy down all night. He didn't let the guests know he was doing two people's jobs until asked directly, and we were impressed. The food was fantastic. It's not simple Italian; it's rustic and complex and addictive. The menu is small which we appreciated. The anchovy bread is something I could eat daily. The parpadelle comes as a wide, flat, viennetta-style curl and is light, as home-made pasta is. My partner's beef was buttery, rich and made us feel like bucolic kings. We look forward to returning.
