Marinitas Ratings and Reviews
Marinitas is one of our favorite places. We had requested to be on the edge so it would be easier to talk. The table that was planned for us wasn't vacated in a timely manner so the hostess found us another great table. We like everything about the restaurant and shall return!
It may be loud at Marinitas on the weekends, but the food and service and margaritas are always excellent. And if for some reason you have room left after the ample portions, the desserts are awesome. I've been going there for several years and it is always excellent.
I did not check the bill before signing it, and found we were overcharged for several items. I went back the following day with the receipts, and they were very nice, believed me, and gave me back the difference.
This is a favorite local restaurant, the food is consistently good, and decor most interesting.
They seem to try to turn tables over quite quickly. In all of the years I've gone there, they always bring the next course before the previous course is done - a huge pet peeve. And they bring the bill before asking if you would like anything else. The food is good, but the service needs help.
Our particular waitress was terrible. She never offered any help or info, and never checked on us to see if our food was good or to refill our water/drinks. We had to hail her down for everything we needed, and when we asked her to refill the house margaritas the bartender made for us, she kept asking us what kind it was because they have many varieties. We told her we were not specific, and the bartender made us his choice. Instead of going over to ask the bartender what it might be, she seemed flustered that we could not tell her.
On the other hand, the margaritas and tacos were delicious. We will go there again, but really hope we will have a different server!
Fantastic food. I will never want to eat Mexican food anywhere else. Both pork dishes were incredible, chicken tacos THE BEST! Enchiladas I"m told are excellent. Great decor/ambiance. Our server was really bad but the food was so good we didn't really care. We had a reservation for six and the hostess seated us without the entire party being present which was pretty cool.
We can't wait to go back. The prices are so reasonable that everyone kept saying their share of the bill must be wrong. We are used to outrageous Marin pricing, especially San Anselmo but Marinitas is generous with their potions and very reasonable with their prices.
We went late on a Sunday evening, around 8, so it was easy to get a table and the service was spectacular. I can see how if it were a busy night it could be hard to get great service, since it's such a huge restaurant. The menu is limited, but we tried a bit of everything and it was all incredibly fresh and flavorful. Really interesting takes on some Mexican classics. If you're thinking of having a few Margaritas, definitely consider just going for the pitcher off-the-bat. After our first round, we loved them and wanted more and ended up spending more on 4 Margaritas than we would have on a pitcher. Will absolutely be back for the Bloody Mary bar on Sundays!
WE HAVE GONE FOR MOTHER'S DAY BRUNCH FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS. THIS YEAR WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING ...THE FRENCH TOAST WAS COLD AND DRY AND THE PORTIONS WERE SMALLER AND THEY WERE OUT OF ONE OF THE DISHES AT 2PM.
WONDER IF THE CHEF WAS NEW OR THEY ARE TRYING TO CUT CORNERS. NOT SURE WE WILL BE BACK.
There were 3 of us. I ordered salad with steak but it came out as salad with shrimp. Other diners were done eating by the time my correct meal came out. Disappointing since we go there pretty regularly. Food was good but I was full up on chips by the time my correct salad came out.
Three of us went for Sunday brunch. Food was TERRIBLE. Eggs NOT cooked as described, beans runny, dish overcooked. Service BAD. Had to ASK for napkins and silverwear even after getting our drinks! Has to ASK for more water TWICE. Waitress had bad attitude; not friendly. Would NOT go back to that place ever. Rate it 2 on 1-10 and only because no one got sick!!!
It was Cinco,de Mayo ~ so, very crowded, and fun place to celebrate! The Margaritas are terrific, except for asking for "no salt " on both drinks, and getting them with salt both times. The salt was wiped off the glass, which left a salty taste to the drinks. The waiperson acted as if this was somehow my fault. The steak tacos are VERY SALTY. the steak entree was okay tastewise, but quite tough meat. For some reason you can only get the steak tacos soft, and chicken tacos crispy. I wonder why there isn't a little more flexibility.
Overall the food was better than most Mexican restaurants. The tortilla's were home made and the taco fillings were made in the restaurant rather than processed industrial types found in many such restaurants. The rice and beans were also locally made an quite good. Except for the service which was only average, this is a good buy if you are in the area.
Marinitas' food never disappoints. We visit from time to time, but always seem to come for our anniversary!
The Sopa de Mariscos (Heidi's take on a south of the border Bouillebasse) was divine as were the trio of ceviche. Presentation is nice, service good.
Our only complaint would be the noise level. Maybe it's our age (it was our 38th anniversary!) but it does get harder to chat when the ambient level is so high.
