Marina Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I have always loved dining at the marina so brought my sister there for her birthday lunch. The food was fantastic but not sure what happened with the service. Our meal was delivered to our table by the manager before our bread basket could be brought out by our waiter and I had to get the water jug from the waiters station to refill our water myself.
A New Year’s Eve dinner lived up to expectations with the exception of the main course. We enjoyed the courses leading to the main course but we decided that we had both selected the wrong main course . The shoulder of lamb which required a long braising without which the meat was tough, the gnocchi was too far removed from the Italian recipes and did not live up to expectations. Perhaps a better choice would have been the fish or beef . The crab prawn and scallop bake suffered with the large flakes of salt. We left gratified and satisfied even though we did not enjoy the main course. Our waitress Mara was ecellent and handled our critique with understanding and good grace. We will be back!
It was 20 minutes before we were acknowledged and offered a drink from our server. After that the service really improved. A few of the dishes we ordered sounded amazing on the menu but lacked the refinement of a well built dish. The tempura was soggy and it was obvious that the soda water they were using was not cold enough in the mix. Also the clam dish was a true disappointment. The broth was tasty enough and the clams were fresh enough but they used this cheap smoky hot dog like chorizo that was sliced in these massive brutish chunks that really over powered the dish. Our sushi roll was really fabulous. Our wine and saki selections were perfect. The steak was thin and chewy. The lamb dish was very flavorful and well presented. We have eaten here several times over the last couple years and this was the low point. We generally have more sushi. They are one of the best at it. Its hard to beat the atmosphere and view and I hope that next time and there will be a next time that things are a little more on point.
We were there right at 5:00 pm and there were just a few people in the restaurant ahead of us. We waited at least ten minutes before being brought water and asked what we would like to drink. It was at least another 20 minute before the bread basket was brought to our table and our server finally asked if we were ready to order.
I did not feel our server was friendly and or helpful. We spent over $100 and I do not feel like it was worth it.
Went to the Marina for an anniversary lunch. The service was very good in that the servers were prompt and attentive. We shared a large baby beet & stilton salad which was very well presented and more than enough to share, followed by a prawn and mushroom pasta dish and the two rivers sausage with red cabbage. Ended the meal with a shared chocolate orange tart dessert. All was very good and to our liking - would recommend any and all of it.
The food was mostly good. But the “farm table” special of saddle of lamb, stuffed with merguez sausage. It was served on a cous cous salad type of thing. It was ridiculously overpriced. There was minuscule portion of lamb piled on a large heap of cous cous salad. And that was it. For $44 ?
We had a lovely dinner there the other night. Food from start to finish was presented beautifully and was delicious. Our waitress was just a sweetheart and although we were literally the last diners to leave pre- Christmas she never acted as though we should rush and finish our dinner. A great night! Thank you, Marina Restaurant!
Busy place but able to get to our reserved table within 5-10 minutes of our reservation time. Sunday brunch was always good and have a lot of choices. The waitress is very friendly and efficient. It was way better than the waiter we had the last time there in October.
The bill for 4 people was $ 242 not including tip, no alcohol was ordered and two people drank just water. My appetizer oysters wrapped in smoke salmon $14 came as two oysters wrapped in salmon , two little bites . My main dish was salmon $ $35 was so small it was enough for a pre adolescent to eat not an adult .
The dessert of truffles $ 10 came as 3 tiny chocolate truffles .
This was just my dinner the others in the party were dissapointed to.
The place and service is ok but the portions and prices were very dissapointing.
We prefer dining here during the lunch hour simply because the scenery is so exceptional. As locals, we find we have many good restaurants in the area from which to choose. The Marina, however, with its gorgeous location and consistently good food, is our go-to.
Overall, a very nice evening. My only negative comment would be that the Beef Bourguignon on the Festivus fixed price menu was disappointing. There were only two small squares of beef and they were tough. Otherwise, the sauce and vegetables were tasty. The rest of the food was delicious, especially the squash and apple soup, and our group enjoyed their meals. The service was very good and we didn't feel rushed at any point. We had a lovely window table with a view of the marina. It would be nice to have a ramp inside the restaurant for disabled customers to get to the lower level more easily. I would recommend this restaurant.
A family get together brought us together at the Marina Restaurant. 4 of us enjoyed lunch mid week. It was was reasonably priced tasty and generous. We had burgers and fish and chips and shared a dessert. The weather was beautiful, scenery magnificent as the restaurant sits on the beach at the Oak Bay Marina. Service was good. Hostess acknowledged my notes in the open table reservation that said, we had never been before and that we would like a table with a view. Most tables here have a view because of the large windows. We were seated next to the window. We felt that the value was great. Beautiful setting reasonably priced.
Great location, scenic view. Staff missed the three details in my online requests. Pork was a bit dry but otherwise very excellent accompaniment with all the layers of flavors of our dinner. With so many restaurants to choose from in Victoria I'm not sure I'll be back again. Kind of disappointed in the service.
I have not gone here in years ~ it had it's ups and downs. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and portions. I would give this restaurant a higher rating; however there were two screaming kids in the restaurant; due to the open concept we thought we were in the middle of a kids birthday party. Unfortunately these days, you can't tell people how to raise their kids. My husband wanted the soup option on the special menu but was told that he could not be accommodated...it's just soup ...!!! I have NEVER been to a restaurant where you can't be given a bowl of soup.
Overall, I would come back.
