Marina Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The four of us each thought it was the best meal for taste, interesting combinations of food on the plates and presentation that we could ever remember over many years of occasional visits. We all determined we would come back soon. The new menu is a big improvement!
The Marina never ceases to deliver all the best of Victoria. I have been coming here for years, even before I moved to the Island, when my mother-in-law would pick me up from the airport and promptly deliver us to a wonderful waterfront table at the Marina, where we would indulge in salmon or halibut (such a treat for a girl from the prairies). Now that I live on the Island, I regularly come to the Marina to enjoy the same meticulously-prepared food, fresh salad greens, delicious soups, and fantastic desserts. And when it's a special occasion, the chef always has a treat up his sleeve. Excellent, as always.
(You might already have part of this--my computer went into a glich). It was my 80th birthday and the staff from chefs to service--Alex is always the best there is!--made for a very memorable evening. Our family had a great evening. Marina is always the place to go for special occassions. Many thanks for the special treatment of arranging for my wife to have two dishes from the luncheon menu; that is a sign of professional attention to dining. Again, my sincere thanks for a wonderful experience of dining. Donald Lang, PhD
We were celebrating my wife's birthday with some friends and had a wonderful evening. We were seated at an excellent table with a great view of the marina. Our server was very attentive to our needs throughout the evening, providing just the right degree of attention without pushing us along. All of our meal selections were presented beautifully and the food quality was excellent. Our first visit to the restaurant was in 1973. We have travelled to Victoria numerous times over the years and each time we dine at the marina we have a very enjoyable evening. This was no exception.
We come to the Marina quite often, and have been for over 15 years. Great for kids, date night, bringing out of town guests, or just a quick drink and some sushi. The food is always excellent, the service is great, and the view of the boats in the marina never gets old. The food is consistent, yet fresh ideas keep appearing on the menu; and the new dishes are as good or better than the standbys.
Ray seated us at a great table, where we recieved excellent service and very tasty food served by Rusty. Rib Eye was out of this world, cooked to perfection and Tuna was very tasty and also perfectly cooked. The chef is very skilled with spices. Dessert of Smores Dacquoise and delicious coffee topped off an amazing meal. This is one of our favourite places to dine when we want to treat ourselves to a night out, never disappointed. The service is probably the best in Victoria.
Came here for the Sunday brunch, had heard very good things about Marina Restaurants. We we're seated almost immediately at a window seat which had a wonderful view. Our waiter Rusty was very friendly and seemed to know what we wanted before we even asked! The food was plentiful and varied and was well prepared! We will be back and we will be recommending it to our friends and family!
Excellent food, service and location. The Dungeness crab was a treat for my husband and I enjoyed a pasta seafood dish that was terrific. Our server was delightful and added to the enjoyment of the evening. Great location away from the touristy downtown Victoria scene.
My family and I went for a special occasion, my 22 birthday. It was great, until I found a big dead spider in my salad. The manager tried to fix it with removing some items from the already expensive bill, however had a very poor excuse and made us feel like we were in the wrong.
Definitely was not empressed nor satisfied.
I had sushi for lunch a couple months ago here and it was fantastic! So I decided to come for dinner with my boyfriend Saturday night. We were both really disappointed with the portion size of our main course. We had the salmon and halibut, which was very expensive.... both over $30. Sadly my salmon was dry and over cooked. Also our house bread came after we had already had our appys and when we were half way through our main. Because of these reasons I won't be coming back for dinner.
We were visiting Victoria with friends from Germany and a friend from Seattle recommend Marina to us. The setting is fabulous. My wife and I both had the lamb which was good but could have been better if it had been cooked medium rare. The octopus squid appetizer was excellent as well as the oysters. We didn't try the sushi but it looked good. We will definitely go back when in Victoria.
Delicious food, beautiful presentation. The Manhattan cocktails we ordered were very well made. We had a lovely view of the marina. I had the poached halibut and my husband had the bavette cut steak, very tender. We will go back! Service was not rushed, some may call that slow, we found it relaxing.
We ate at the Marina every night of our week long stay 21 years ago. We came back 21 years later and were so pleased that very little had changed. We were blessed with a kind and competent waitress who listened to our story. The food was exquisite and the view relaxing and memorable. The best restaurant on Vancouver Island!
We visited the Marina on a busy Sunday evening on a long week-end - probably not the best time to visit. It fact the server said we would do 'better' to come in on a Wed or Thurs. The restaurant was crowded but that didn't affect the service too badly. However we did have the impression that the busy kitchen rushed the food preparation a bit. And as with many restaurants, the wine list is over-priced for what was on offer. But the view and atmosphere remain pleasant so we will probably return, but never again on a holiday week-end.
The location is fantastic. Sushi is fresh and well prepared. The halibut was well prepared though the sauce was a bit heavy. The tuna dish had way too much going on. Many sauces and condiments that were very tasty but clashed with each other and overpowered the tuna. Cocktails were Great!
The food was very bland and lacking in seasoning, my scallops were cold, slightly undercooked and the menu selection was VERY limited. Beautiful view, nice atmosphere and average service, but with the high pricing, lack of properly cooked/seasoned food and limited selection, it will be VERY unlikely that I return with my family again.
Marina was recommended by a local friend for our first visit to Victoria. We loved everything about it, especially the unique combination of flavors the chef instilled into every dish we tried. The harbor view was spectacular, service excellent, prices reasonable. But, what blew us away was explosion of taste in every bite...very creative cooking with local ingredients. If there were 10 stars I would give Marina every one.
