Great service, wonderful staff, prompt and timely attention
So great! Really delicious!
Wonderful scenery and ambience. Bento box was good, but the soya sauce was off (too old). Service great. Love the bar for sushi and cocktails in the evening.
A great seaside view of moored boats, attentive service, and always excellent food have made each dining experience a memorable one!
Waitress was average for a classy spot like Marina
We have been to this restaurant a few times and had a very wonderful experience in the main restaurant. This past Saturday we celebrating we were celebrating our 4th anniversary and had a reso at the main restaurant. We were really hoping for sushi but were told we could only have it in the sushi section. We were happy to move over and were sat at the bar which was not wonderful ambience for an anniversary. When seated there was one empty chair to our right so we asked our server if she would like us to move down in case more people came and her response was "no then I will have to serve more people". We did manage to get moved to a table which was lovely. Unfortunately the service was absolutely horrible. She was rude, never came back to check to see if we would like another drink or to order. She managed to get our order wrong and did not apologize for it. Basically was trying to push us out the door on a special night we really wanted to enjoy. Long story short, not a great evening. The food was fairly good if it would have been what we ordered.
Awesome meal for a diverse group. We had a vegan and a gluten free guest & there was ample selection for everyone. A great brunch experience.
The food at the Marina has never been consistent, some years it's good and others it's not. This is a low end brunch that is not up to the view, the setting and the price.
Hadn't been to the Marina in a while. Always loved it and we really enjoyed our meal. we'll be back sooner than later.
Beautiful space and setting. Great food and service
Delicious. Great atmosphere. Attentive staff. Very happy with our table that faced the marina. Our food was delicious and well presented. It was my first time doing wine pairing with a meal, excellent!!! Our waiter was talkative and very attentive. Beautiful restaurant, lots of room between tables and quiet enough that I could hear my wife across the table.
Beef tenderloin for Valentines Dinner was exceptional! Truly an outstanding meal.
Very nice location in the Oak Bay Marina. Great food combined with excellent service.
We like to take friends there for lunch and never left without satisfaction.
The food is always fresh and plentiful, the bread is fresh out of the oven.
It is a feel good restaurant and always looking forward to eat there.
Excellent food with diverse, complex flavours. I loved that my partner could have Japanese food and I didn't have to. Lots of natural light with interesting marina views and beautiful longer views. Good, friendly, helpful service at a very busy time.
Ours was a family gathering of 8 to celebrate my wife's 75th birthday. The food and drinks were terrific and the service was exceptional. And the pastry chef is to be complemented for the excellent cake she made.
Love everything about this place, I've never been disappointed.
Very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food at Marina. We came for the Dine Around Victoria promotion and ate at the sushi bar, and were impressed at the freshness and thoughtfulness of most of the dishes. Appetizers were beautifully prepared and simply presented (aburi bonito was phenomenal); mains were good, although they went way overboard with the spicy mayo sauce that hid the freshness of the fish... and the salmon and rock crab were both quite literally tasteless. Overall the service was excellent (great recommendation on drinks, attentive and pleasant throughout without being intrusive). Looking forward to trying the main dining room next time I go!
Thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance.
We were celebrating a birthday and used Open Table for a very last minute reservation at 7:15 on a Friday Night! Choosing dinner choces is always a challenge at the Marina with such a fablous selection of items on the menu- the Dine Around Selections were terrific. My daughter and I both had the Grilled Prawns and Scallops Pasta dish and highly recommend it!! What a lovely evening!
Beautiful spot, overlooking a harbour of sparkling boats. Food was great, service impeccable --
and loved the wine recommendation! We'll be back.
Excellent Ambience and view. Excellent food. Excellent service. The portions are a little bit too small. I’m a medium build, medium appetite older woman but even after a 3 course dinner I’m not quite full.
Had a great lunch with a friend. Curried lamb was delicious. The service was attentive and not intrusive. Highly recommended.
My husband & I invited his 82 year-old mom. Made reservations 6 weeks in advance requesting seating close to buffet as walking is a concern. Easy drop-off at entrance and gentle ramp through seahorse doors. Smiling Receptionist had the reservation and seated us at a perfect booth. Servers showed attentiveness and professionalism and several times used dishes were removed or fresh coffee poured without breaking our conversation. We chose from a good variety of hot, cold, vegetarian, local, light and rib-sticking dishes — all delicious. And then there was dessert but you’ll have to discover those for yourself. We came for the food, view, and restaurant’s reputation for decades of excellence and we were very happy with our experience. Most important, our Senior felt special and respected. Thank you to all the employees.
Overpriced; some entrees were not balanced with vegetables; food taste and quality just OK (at those prices I expect better); cold air blowing down on us from the ceiling which the staff were unable or unwilling to stop.
The desserts are very heavy.
Portions are too big and half of size not available.
Drinking water not filtered and smell of chlorine.
Excellent food. Attentive service. Beautiful location.
I had the lamb shank which was very good. Portion size was perfect. Service was a bit slow but our server was friendly and attentive
I had the 3 course with Beef Bourgeon, it was too salty. Perhaps less salt and we can salt to taste.
I love the Marina Restaurant. It is my go to place when I have guests in town for work or for family occasions. The food is always good. The service is outstanding. And, there is a great view too.
Good ambiance m very good service, food pricy, two fish cakes, $17,00 , too much!
I have always loved dining at the marina so brought my sister there for her birthday lunch. The food was fantastic but not sure what happened with the service. Our meal was delivered to our table by the manager before our bread basket could be brought out by our waiter and I had to get the water jug from the waiters station to refill our water myself.
Wonderful location, delicious food and exceptional service :) Loved it!
I hadn't been to the marina for awhile. I thought the food was much better than on my last visit. We both had the falafel salad and it was completely delicious. The ambience and view are always pleasant. Thanks!
The Marina Restaurant has been, still is and always will be our "go-to" restaurant for special occasions, family get-togethers, or just a cozy meal out. The ambience is cozy and conducive to great conversation. The service is always impeccable.
A New Year’s Eve dinner lived up to expectations with the exception of the main course. We enjoyed the courses leading to the main course but we decided that we had both selected the wrong main course . The shoulder of lamb which required a long braising without which the meat was tough, the gnocchi was too far removed from the Italian recipes and did not live up to expectations. Perhaps a better choice would have been the fish or beef . The crab prawn and scallop bake suffered with the large flakes of salt. We left gratified and satisfied even though we did not enjoy the main course. Our waitress Mara was ecellent and handled our critique with understanding and good grace. We will be back!
It was 20 minutes before we were acknowledged and offered a drink from our server. After that the service really improved. A few of the dishes we ordered sounded amazing on the menu but lacked the refinement of a well built dish. The tempura was soggy and it was obvious that the soda water they were using was not cold enough in the mix. Also the clam dish was a true disappointment. The broth was tasty enough and the clams were fresh enough but they used this cheap smoky hot dog like chorizo that was sliced in these massive brutish chunks that really over powered the dish. Our sushi roll was really fabulous. Our wine and saki selections were perfect. The steak was thin and chewy. The lamb dish was very flavorful and well presented. We have eaten here several times over the last couple years and this was the low point. We generally have more sushi. They are one of the best at it. Its hard to beat the atmosphere and view and I hope that next time and there will be a next time that things are a little more on point.
We were there right at 5:00 pm and there were just a few people in the restaurant ahead of us. We waited at least ten minutes before being brought water and asked what we would like to drink. It was at least another 20 minute before the bread basket was brought to our table and our server finally asked if we were ready to order.
I did not feel our server was friendly and or helpful. We spent over $100 and I do not feel like it was worth it.
Went to the Marina for an anniversary lunch. The service was very good in that the servers were prompt and attentive. We shared a large baby beet & stilton salad which was very well presented and more than enough to share, followed by a prawn and mushroom pasta dish and the two rivers sausage with red cabbage. Ended the meal with a shared chocolate orange tart dessert. All was very good and to our liking - would recommend any and all of it.
Great service. Outstanding location/ setting/ room
The food was mostly good. But the “farm table” special of saddle of lamb, stuffed with merguez sausage. It was served on a cous cous salad type of thing. It was ridiculously overpriced. There was minuscule portion of lamb piled on a large heap of cous cous salad. And that was it. For $44 ?
