Marina Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
A family get together brought us together at the Marina Restaurant. 4 of us enjoyed lunch mid week. It was was reasonably priced tasty and generous. We had burgers and fish and chips and shared a dessert. The weather was beautiful, scenery magnificent as the restaurant sits on the beach at the Oak Bay Marina. Service was good. Hostess acknowledged my notes in the open table reservation that said, we had never been before and that we would like a table with a view. Most tables here have a view because of the large windows. We were seated next to the window. We felt that the value was great. Beautiful setting reasonably priced.
Great location, scenic view. Staff missed the three details in my online requests. Pork was a bit dry but otherwise very excellent accompaniment with all the layers of flavors of our dinner. With so many restaurants to choose from in Victoria I'm not sure I'll be back again. Kind of disappointed in the service.
I have not gone here in years ~ it had it's ups and downs. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and portions. I would give this restaurant a higher rating; however there were two screaming kids in the restaurant; due to the open concept we thought we were in the middle of a kids birthday party. Unfortunately these days, you can't tell people how to raise their kids. My husband wanted the soup option on the special menu but was told that he could not be accommodated...it's just soup ...!!! I have NEVER been to a restaurant where you can't be given a bowl of soup.
Overall, I would come back.
The service was exceptional, attentive but not too much, along with friendly. Much to my surprise, when it was time for dessert, Sydney, our waiter, presented a plate with Happy Birthday written in chocolate plus 3 delicious truffles and a solid piece of chocolate. Classy and thoughtful and a sweet surprise.
I've eaten often at your restaurant but this particular evening had just the right ambiance...... because we went early it was quiet which was enjoyable.
Potential beautiful location overlooking the marina. However, despite being a relatively quiet Sunday evening with a number of ‘view’ tables available, we were seated at a table with partial view looking out over stairwell.
Good varied menu with local ingredients. Server was very pleasant and knowledgeable about menu. Price on high end but appropriate.
We have been to the Marina Restaurant dozens of times, and usually everything is at least good if not great. This recent time, however, was a serious exception. The service was very slow, starting with the cocktails, followed by items from our order either not arriving at all (wine pairing, forgotten) or arriving incorrectly (ling cod, instead of ribeye), or lukewarm upon delivery. Appropriate cutlery was not provided (soup served, no spoons, had to be requested, and other). The flavour spectrum of the food was excellent, however. We did mention all of this to the manager when we were asked at the end of our dinner how things were going, as I believe it is far more helpful to be honest with management about shortcomings than to just smile and pretend everything is okay. After all, we have been going to the Marina for years as a favourite neighbourhood spot, and we want to ensure that things will get back up to the fine standards we are used to. I wouldn't even bother reviewing this experience, except that sometimes it can be useful to help escalate change. The manager did provide two complimentary desserts and a round of drinks as compensation, which was appreciated, and we will go back again, hoping things will have improved. This specific experience is what quantified my somewhat low rating, and I hope that next time I will have reason to give it a full five stars on all accounts!
Hard to express how great Marina Restaurant is. For some, on the pricey side, but for a special person's birthday, when you want to be assured of a great experience, I can't imagine a better place. We're still talking about it, both local people and family from San Diego. Service attentive and friendly, knowledgeable, discreet. Lots of local fare, esp delicious veg from Saanich Organics; ocean-wise fish and seafood. Delicious and unique desserts. Lovely ambiance; comfortable and serene. Just go.
The Marina has been on our “favourites” list for years. This visit did not disappoint. Guests visiting from Alberta loved the water views from the window seat (which had been requested at the time of reservation). The service was efficient and the food delicious.
we went first time to celebrate my Mom birthday /70. they came from Colombia, so it was a very special occasion, but unfortunately my husband asked for a beef 8 oz. well done but still red meat, and the flavour it was not that great, too much cumin and peppers that overpowered the dish, as me i asked for the chicken with peach sauce and literally the chicken was cold, the leg, the other piece it was not too bad but with skin, which i found kind of disgusting, i did not want to ruin my moms celebration we loved the view but the food it was not so great as the price and the space would deserve. my father kind of enjoyed as far as i know the fish the kids pasta was nice. and i think the dishes lack on fresh vegetables, or for me i could not find a decent salad offered on the menu. thanks for listening, but it was not a great first time. not going back for a while. :(
