We are looking for an excuse to get back to Birmingham just so we can try the taster menu! We booked here before a concert and had a fabulous meal with impecable service. The only two (very minor) things I would comment on is that the service was almost too quick - if we hadn't had somewhere to go afterwards it would have felt almost rushed and when we ordered machiato at the end they came in a large cup filled with froth - a cappuccino really - so the barrista needs to work on measurements. Overall though we will definitely be returning whenever in Birmingham.

Possibly the nicest food I have ever had. Staff were very attentive, and the atmosphere was lovely - quiet and intimate. Would definitely recommend.

Some unusual blends of flavour started the evening in an interesting manner. The atmosphere was non existent with only 1 other table in there on a Friday night and staff huddled round the bar chatting. After finally being able to order a drink we waited for our food to arrive. The starters were lovely followed by an overcooked and burnt halibut main. Palette cleansers arrived but the waitress as she placed them on our table said she didn’t know what they were or what was in them. An unusual pudding then arrived of Rice Krispies in a milk sauce with black liquorice on top and raspberry sorbet. The only other table in the restaurant found this amusing too with laughter and how appalling the dessert was. Safe to say we will not be returning.

The food was exquisite, beautifully presented and very unique. We had the tasting menu and each course though delicate was bursting with flavours.
The Beetroot, pear & white balsamic vinegar was especially pleasing but the plate which stole the show was the Parsnip, apple & calvados desert. It really shouldn’t work but it did with bells on, it was absolutely delicious.

Head Chef Harvey Perttola personally served one course and chatted passionately about his menu which was very refreshing and made a good experience into a great one.

We will be back and would recommend Maribel very highly to anyone.

First visit and definitely not the last. Food was excellent, the service top class. My friends and I had a wonderful dining experience. Thank you to all concerned

A great place to have a relaxed meal in a quiet environment. Great food and friendly service.

Delicious food presented beautifully in a lovely restaurant with great ambience.

The food here is a real let down. We had the dinner menu and I had the ravioli. It was really thick and tough and not what you would expect in a good restaurant. My main wasn't much better. Iberico pork. Portion was clearly a lunchtime portion and it was tasteless. Accompanied with it was some flavourless barley with what tasted like cheap chorizo and black pudding chopped up into it. We didn't stay for dessert. The service was ok. I didn't complain at the time as I find it ruins the night and they aren't things that can be easily remedied without having to completely reorder my food. My mother's food was better, but again the beef main course miniscule. It wasn't inedible or unpleasant at all, just not up to scratch compared to all other restaurants in that price bracket.

Really enjoyed the three course meal. Lovely little snack starters, the pork belly and ravioli starters were very good. The main courses we had were beef - cooked perfectly and a tasty piece of halibut. The rice pudding was excellent, the rhubarb I found a bit boring. Overall a very good experience, reasonably priced for the quality. Happy to go back anytime.

Wonderful restaurant with set menu being amazing value for money. Staff were very knowledgable and made wine recommendations which were perfectly paired!

My fiancee and I had the tasting menu for a special NYE celebration, and in short the meal was very pleasant, but not terribly exciting. The food was delicately presented and delicious, with a range of solid high-end staples (halibut, liver, an extremely rich black forest cake).

The staff were very polite and friendly, and the sommelier seemed very enthusiastic about his wine pairings! The whole restaurant is rather poorly lit (central tables with glaring overhead spotlights, side tables in shadow/gloom) but overall the ambience was nice and chilled for an intimate dinner.

In summary, this is a lovely small fine dining restaurant that offers tasty cuisine at competitive prices, but it lacks the charisma and flavour to be truly memorable.

As soon as we arrived at the Maribel restaraunt there was something a little special about this place.. the venue looks classy..the greeting from the staff team, from the off set as you arrive makes you feel special..the food is on another level..it is sublime..very creative and enjoyable in every sense of the word..we will be revisiting this equist venue again..to sample more of the finner things in life..the chef's are amazing with what they create and how the food makes you feel on consuming..a great team effort all round..

You cant fault the Maribel except the Price, just over £400 pounds for 4 People including the wine. Its the 12.5% additional surcharge which just stops it being a complete 5 star experience

Excellent food and service, best in Birmingham by far!

Superb interesting and well executed food. Particularly fine were soup with some clear fine authentic Asian Indian lineage in the cooking ( I am half Indian) and superb deeply tasty well judged sauce with the halibut. Lovely - would return for that alone.
Glad we splashed out on the tasting menu but it overlapped with the standard a la carte so no quibble if one you went for that.

The wines are very well chosen and with an eclectic interesting range and mix. Drinks are a tad pricey so next time I will watch things like bottled water or glasses of champagne - but it was our anniversary!

4th visit to the restaurant with the same friends and we cannot fault it. An excellent experience; a very classy restaurant. Highly recommended.

Best Cocktail I've had in Brum. Food was good. Will definitely return to try the full menu with wine flight.

Waiter ruined a good evening for us. He was sullen and never made any attempt to smile or make us feel welcome. The older gentleman was the opposite, but he didnt serve us sadly, but we could see he interacted with diners and smiled constantly - it really does make all the difference..
Food was good and worth the trip though.

Very disappointed with the service, food was very poor. When you compare to Folium, Opheem and Purnells it comes up lacking. Service was very rushed to begin with then slow. Waiters were not very knowledgable and very hard to hear as noise levels were ridiculously loud. Wouldn’t return, has ambition but style over substance.

Great flavors, service very good and attentive well worth a visit

Went to Maibel with my wife prior to an event at the Arena as it was within walking distance. We were met with a friendly smile by all the staff and this continued throughout our visit along with exceptional service.

The food was of a very high standard and we felt was good value for money. We both had the tasting menu which challenged us with some of the flavour combinations but was stunning and fantastically presented.

We both highly recommend and will be telling our friends and family and will be returning again soon

Unfortunately I can’t and I really wanted to. The flavours in the sauces were over powering to the point you could not taste the main attraction in my case the halibut which was exquisitely cooked. My wife ordered the venison which was also overpowered but not by the promised chocolate jus which had little flavour.
The menu needs to state such flavours because if my wife had ordered the halibut she would of sent it back as she hates strong ginger.
On a positive the front of house were very attentive and the ambiance was good.

Good value for money! Food is delicious and service was efficient. Only critique although minor is that the waiters and waitresses although incredibly polite and attentive could have been more friendly in their approach, chatty etc. Would thoroughly recommend the restaurant

Perfect for pre concert dining. Delicious food and wine. A lovely welcome by the charming staff and we felt very comfortable here. Thought our 3 course meal represented value for money and good choices.

The staff were great but the expensive fillet steak was over cooked. Other than that, it was a nice experience
