Great local spot for a quick bite! Never disappoints
This is the second time in 3 months that the restaurant did NOT have any record of my open table reservation. Both times we were seated at a table promptly. I would recommend that you book with open table and then call to confirm your reservation.
Our server Cristian was fantastic and the pasta dishes we all ordered were amazing and fairly priced. Good Italian wine as well! 100% will be returning soon
1st time & the last time we'll go here. I made reservations on Open Table, got to the restaurant, there was no reservation. I showed the hostess my email confirmation & she said they haven't set up Open Table on their ipad yet, only Yelp & she also said she could transfer it over, whatever that means. We DID NOT earn points for using the ap & by the time she seated us I just let it go cuz we could hardly understand her (not very good English). Everything just got even worse from there! My chopped salad was full of red cabbage, hardly any greens & the dressing was so sweet I couldn't eat it all. The ceasar salad had no dressing on it & the lump of dressing that was brought to us tasted like mayo & a ton of anchovies, it was awful! The minestrone soup tasted like it came from a can, was not offered any cheese nor did it come with it on it. So, we're thinking how much worse can this get. OMG! Lasagna was full of cheese, big globs of it. Husband asked if they could do a chicken fettuccine with creme sauce, angel hair pasta & mushrooms. It was so bland. No amount of salt/pepper & graded parmessan cheese made it any better. They charged us $20 for it to. We are so disgusted & disappointed! The only good thing was our server, but the other wait person was running back & forth to his tables he was waiting on, which was pretty distracting. I'm not kidding! He ran the whole time! Never have we seen a wait person running. There was no reason to. There will be no second chance!
The food is a-m-a-z-i-n-g! Ask for Christian.
Really great local spot and I was impressed with the quality of food compared to other Italian restaurants in Renton. The staff was wonderful and very attentive even though we were there on a busy night (Valentine's day). The spaghetti carbonara had an elevated taste and wasn't just a slop of cream sauce. Their garlic cheese bread was deliciously cheesy and the garlic-infused olive oil was the highlight! Seriously delicious with lots of garlic and spices - I may have eaten a spoonful on its own. We will go back.
Booked via opentable yet no record of our reservation when we arrive. The hostess told us “open table does not work but the owner wants us to use it”. Food is outstanding, wait staff are a disaster. Our apatizer never came. Two of the three salads came out followed by the third but only after 2 of us were alreqdy done.
Go for the food but expect horiable experience from the staff.
Fabulous food, too many large parties tonight. Normally they are super spot on! But got a little behind this time. Food makes up for it every time!!
I love the food at Marianna. It really is good, and have been many times. I took my office there for lunch and the place was extremely quiet, only one other table in their "back room." I suspect I know why. They can't turn a table for lunch in under an hour,if you are trying to have a work lunch and have to get back, forget about it! It took us 1 1/2 hours for a lunch, and, remember, we really were the only table there.
The other issue I have is that I asked about the "lunch combo" Spaghetti. The waiter said I could simply add meatballs to the Menu item one to have the same dish, without the accompanying salad/soup and coffee/soda. What he didn't tell me was that the cost was the same and for 2 small meatballs, it was an extra $3.50.
I would also like to update this review by saying that I used the feature to send a comment to the restaurant and left my email address for contact. I was never contacted by the restaurant to address my concerns. It tells me they don't really care. As a result, i am downgrading my review to 2 stars. Perhaps they were more concerned about their one other table.... I honestly haven't been back since, and I really did like their food previously, but this whole experience has turned me off and I choose to spend my $ elsewhere. There are several good choices in town. :(
This was our second trip and it was as great as I remembered! Parking is a little difficult but well worth it!
Ummm, well, this was our 8th-10th visit since they opened in downtown Renton. We got there ahead of our reservation, waited about 10 mins for someone to come out and seat us. We were seated by who appeared to be our waiter, were given menus, water, then a different person came to take our order. Never heard the specials, soup of the day, etc. Very disappointing to be treated this way. Food always was excellent, service was marginal at best. It appeared as if we were just someone to serve, not a customer. May not ever come back, which is too bad as we are retiring outside this area and Marianna would be the ONLY reason we'd ever come back to Puget Sound.
If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant in Seattle this is the one. It is in Renton in a small neighborhood but worth the cab ride from downtown or your car from the airport. Super italian menu and nice Italian wine list. Some of the best Italian food I have had in a long time. The Bolognese was superb as was the Lasagna and sea food dishes with pasta.
Food was very good, as was the service. The desserts were excellent, and the salads crisp and fresh tasting.
The restaurant was either understaffed or just extremely poor service. It wasn't even busy but the other patrons experienced the same misfortune of a bad Renton dining experience. Arrived at 6:30 pm and the evening went downhill from being seated, At 8:45 got up and had to find a waiter for our check. Had two small pizza's, one chicken dinner (side salad never delivered) and two dinner salads .(served on small plates). The entire evening was very strange indeed.....
Our food was delicious. Lasagna and rigatoni, both prepared well. Rigatoni was al dente, the extra sauce on the lasagna was terrific. It raised the bar on the lasagna! Great bread and oil and a wonderful ceasar salad.
Given the many positive reviews, we reasonably high expectations for dinner here but were very disappointed. The service was nearly non-existent, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Our waiter spent his time sitting and talking at another table. As a result, we had a 15 minute before our order was taken, long waits with empty water glasses, and we had to ask for our check twice. The food was ok but nothing special.
Wow. What a great meal and a great experience - as always. Once again the entire staff at Marianna's made this yet another memorable experience. The food was exquisite, the wine fantastic, and staff and service second to none. We are planning our retirement and move to AZ within the next 10 months - and I can say that Marianna's is going to be the one and only place and the one and only experience in the ENTIRE Puget Sound area we are going to miss. Marianna's would be the ONLY reason we'd ever come back up here.
Always yummy food with vibrant atmosphere. Surprising to find such a place in Renton....but we keep going back!
We went down on Mothers day for dinner and had the special of that day: One Fillet Mignon (me) my wife's was poached King Salmon. Both entries were exceptional. Sontiago the owner was our waiter. Very professional. We went to Marianna's as we have eaten there before and found the food very good.
food was tasty and plentiful, however with the amount of wait staff working the night we went, service was the speediest or attentive. first time here, will go back for a future dining experience.
We had read through reviews that the food was good but service was not up to par so that is what we had expected. We were pleasantly surprised with incredible service! There were 6 of us and they did not miss a beat! Food was incredible and we had terrific service! Can't say enough about this place, we think it will soon be a new favorite!
Marianna Ristorante is always consistent with their service and food and is reasonably priced.
Filet cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. Food and service excellent as always. Love the beet salad. Try it....you'll love it
The Italian waiter that served us sang and entertained people, but he forgot our order right after taking it and had to return to ask what one of us ordered. He was the only waiter working the dining area, and was not very attentive. The pizza, although flavorful was soggy in the center.
I dine there regularly and never disappointed with quality of food, service and ambiance.
This restaurant never rushes you. You dine at your pace with very attentive waitstaff. The food is always good and the wine list is reasonable.
Great Italian fare, very nicely prepared. One of us is Sicilian/Italian and the meatballs appetizer and sauce reminded him of his Mom's.
Service was very nice. Only complaint is that the restaurant has a little identity crisis. The bar is a little loud, with happy hour, while the restaurant has a very nice low-key ambiance. There is no separation however, so the soft music and dim lighting of the restaurant is displaced by the loud music and revelers in the bar, until they left.
The drinks were great too.
On this visit service was OK....not exceptional as usual.
The food was amazing. Really good flavors, portion sizes, and presentation. Only thing that marred our experience was poor service. The waiter was short with us and not very interested in serving us.
This was my 2nd time here and I have to say both the food and service were sub par; much different from the great 1st time experience. The food didn't seem carefully plated, more like thrown together in a hurry; and didn't seem seasoned. I was surprised at the indifferent service received too. Seemed like the waiter just didn't want to be working. He barely kept our water refilled and did not offer pricing on the specials for that night. He also did not offer fresh ground pepper for our salads, and seemed more interested in helping other tables he had.
OVerall experience was very good. Service good and friendly. My husband has pizza which was a bit soggy not a traditional Italian pizza. My seafood pasta was ok. Prawns tasted like cholrine and the pasta a bit dry and tastless. Bread and wine were wonderful. Would go back and order something else though.
As a recent visitor to Italy, I love the authenticity of the Tuscan influence. They have great food and awesome service.
Best gnocchi I ever had outside of Italy. This place is a hidden gem.
Enjoy coming to the restaurant in our neighborhood
Quality food and great service, We have been at Marianna several times never disappointed.
Excellent food and good service
Always a pleasure dining here, from tasty entrees, daily specials, specialty cocktails, and wine selection, you cannot go wrong. A neighborhood favorite, and one of the best restaurants you will find outside of downtown Seattle. You won't be disappointed!
As always good food...however their dinner specials have not been to my preference.
I had the Linguini Venezia special. It was an awesome blend of flavors with the scallops and prawns sauteed to perfection. They should make it a permanent menu item.
Sometimes is place is good and sometimes not. This was a not. Pasta undercooked for both our dinners. One waiter it seemed for the entire restaurant so service was very, very slow. Ordered bottled water. Never came so we told our bus person and he said we did not get it because they were out. Hello?! Could we have been told this? No one came back to us to ask how the food was so we just ate it. We were starving. Last time we were there it was just the opposite but have to be truthful about this night.
