Marianna Ristorante - Renton Ratings and Reviews
I love the food at Marianna. It really is good, and have been many times. I took my office there for lunch and the place was extremely quiet, only one other table in their "back room." I suspect I know why. They can't turn a table for lunch in under an hour,if you are trying to have a work lunch and have to get back, forget about it! It took us 1 1/2 hours for a lunch, and, remember, we really were the only table there.
The other issue I have is that I asked about the "lunch combo" Spaghetti. The waiter said I could simply add meatballs to the Menu item one to have the same dish, without the accompanying salad/soup and coffee/soda. What he didn't tell me was that the cost was the same and for 2 small meatballs, it was an extra $3.50.
I would also like to update this review by saying that I used the feature to send a comment to the restaurant and left my email address for contact. I was never contacted by the restaurant to address my concerns. It tells me they don't really care. As a result, i am downgrading my review to 2 stars. Perhaps they were more concerned about their one other table.... I honestly haven't been back since, and I really did like their food previously, but this whole experience has turned me off and I choose to spend my $$ elsewhere. There are several good choices in town. :(
Ummm, well, this was our 8th-10th visit since they opened in downtown Renton. We got there ahead of our reservation, waited about 10 mins for someone to come out and seat us. We were seated by who appeared to be our waiter, were given menus, water, then a different person came to take our order. Never heard the specials, soup of the day, etc. Very disappointing to be treated this way. Food always was excellent, service was marginal at best. It appeared as if we were just someone to serve, not a customer. May not ever come back, which is too bad as we are retiring outside this area and Marianna would be the ONLY reason we'd ever come back to Puget Sound.
If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant in Seattle this is the one. It is in Renton in a small neighborhood but worth the cab ride from downtown or your car from the airport. Super italian menu and nice Italian wine list. Some of the best Italian food I have had in a long time. The Bolognese was superb as was the Lasagna and sea food dishes with pasta.
The restaurant was either understaffed or just extremely poor service. It wasn't even busy but the other patrons experienced the same misfortune of a bad Renton dining experience. Arrived at 6:30 pm and the evening went downhill from being seated, At 8:45 got up and had to find a waiter for our check. Had two small pizza's, one chicken dinner (side salad never delivered) and two dinner salads .(served on small plates). The entire evening was very strange indeed.....
Given the many positive reviews, we reasonably high expectations for dinner here but were very disappointed. The service was nearly non-existent, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Our waiter spent his time sitting and talking at another table. As a result, we had a 15 minute before our order was taken, long waits with empty water glasses, and we had to ask for our check twice. The food was ok but nothing special.
Wow. What a great meal and a great experience - as always. Once again the entire staff at Marianna's made this yet another memorable experience. The food was exquisite, the wine fantastic, and staff and service second to none. We are planning our retirement and move to AZ within the next 10 months - and I can say that Marianna's is going to be the one and only place and the one and only experience in the ENTIRE Puget Sound area we are going to miss. Marianna's would be the ONLY reason we'd ever come back up here.
We went down on Mothers day for dinner and had the special of that day: One Fillet Mignon (me) my wife's was poached King Salmon. Both entries were exceptional. Sontiago the owner was our waiter. Very professional. We went to Marianna's as we have eaten there before and found the food very good.
We had read through reviews that the food was good but service was not up to par so that is what we had expected. We were pleasantly surprised with incredible service! There were 6 of us and they did not miss a beat! Food was incredible and we had terrific service! Can't say enough about this place, we think it will soon be a new favorite!
The Italian waiter that served us sang and entertained people, but he forgot our order right after taking it and had to return to ask what one of us ordered. He was the only waiter working the dining area, and was not very attentive. The pizza, although flavorful was soggy in the center.
Great Italian fare, very nicely prepared. One of us is Sicilian/Italian and the meatballs appetizer and sauce reminded him of his Mom's.
Service was very nice. Only complaint is that the restaurant has a little identity crisis. The bar is a little loud, with happy hour, while the restaurant has a very nice low-key ambiance. There is no separation however, so the soft music and dim lighting of the restaurant is displaced by the loud music and revelers in the bar, until they left.
The drinks were great too.
This was my 2nd time here and I have to say both the food and service were sub par; much different from the great 1st time experience. The food didn't seem carefully plated, more like thrown together in a hurry; and didn't seem seasoned. I was surprised at the indifferent service received too. Seemed like the waiter just didn't want to be working. He barely kept our water refilled and did not offer pricing on the specials for that night. He also did not offer fresh ground pepper for our salads, and seemed more interested in helping other tables he had.
OVerall experience was very good. Service good and friendly. My husband has pizza which was a bit soggy not a traditional Italian pizza. My seafood pasta was ok. Prawns tasted like cholrine and the pasta a bit dry and tastless. Bread and wine were wonderful. Would go back and order something else though.
Sometimes is place is good and sometimes not. This was a not. Pasta undercooked for both our dinners. One waiter it seemed for the entire restaurant so service was very, very slow. Ordered bottled water. Never came so we told our bus person and he said we did not get it because they were out. Hello?! Could we have been told this? No one came back to us to ask how the food was so we just ate it. We were starving. Last time we were there it was just the opposite but have to be truthful about this night.
The dishes here were higher quality than Armando's. We started with a lovely Burrata appetizer and then had a pasta and a chicken dish. Food was on par with the prices. Service was not so wonderful on the night we were there. Just a lot of waiting - first for a server to stop by, then to take our order. Once our order was placed our dishes arrived too quickly (we saw the server come by with our entrees and return to the kitchen, i.e. heat lamps when she noticed we were still eating our appetizer). We experienced the same thing at the end of our meal. It took forever to get the bill taken care of and to get a little more water after our meal. We'll go back, but don't expect top notch service.
I am there at least once per week with family or clients and they all rave about the place. The owner is always present and makes it a point to stop by every table and it makes you feel like you are having dinner at a friends house. Want your meal prepared a special way, no problem. Great place.
The puttenesca was extremely fishy and had far too many sardines. The ravioli was undercooked and so-so. The veal picatta was very good however according to my son. The waiter was rude and kept telling bad jokes at our expense. Their old restaurant Vino was so much better than this.
