The menu offers time honored Russian classics such as the flavorsome customary soup Borsch with Pampushka, Beets, Broth, Beef, Cabbage, Carrots and Potatoes served with Sour Cream in a beautiful tureen that holds enough for seconds or third. Mari Vanna is open for lunch, brunch and dinner 7 days a week.
Always reliably delicious with friendly service and good (Russian-inspired) ambiance.
Loved it! We came here to celebrate our 1st year anniversary and ordered Tsarskiy Pir. We expected a 5-course meal, but instead, we got 11 different meals. We could not finish them all and took a lot of food to go. Definitely worth $100/ person. We even got black caviar in the deal.
I love this place. I even loved the accordion. Pelmeni with a dish of pickled vegetables is my idea of soul food
One of the most eclectic and off-beat place I've been in the City. Wonderful food and atmosphere.
Good food and delicious vodka!
Loved the unique atmosphere
A must try is the infused vodka flight. Go for the horseradish vodka. So yummy
Beautiful restaurant that feels very rustic, with floral wallpaper, doilies, mismatched plates, and ceramic bunnies. Old Russian cartoons were playing on the tv. Had the potato and cabbage pirozhok, salmon blinis, cured herring, and kotletki Kamchatka - all very tasty. For dessert, got the onegin, which was also delicious. Go for the horseradish vodka shots.
Very traditional in decor and food. The caviar selection is amazing! A must try. The food is fresh and delicious. The waitstaff attentive and knowledgeable. If you like Russian cuisine or are looking for something new to you, give it a try. We love and will return.
Food is worth it. However, being told about the table having a 2-hour time limit by THREE different staff members before we were even sat is the poorest welcome we have ever experienced. Complete turn off. Really really crass.
Excellent ambiance, food and service. Def a favorite in nyc!
espectacular, disfrute mucho la comida y el ambiente !!!
4 of us like the food there. We’ll definitely need to be back to try other meals.
best place to go when you start missing a hospitable home-like atmosphere
Fabulous ambiance and energy. Delicious food.
Borscht with a healthy side of attitude. Our waitress had a major attitude and the manager did not seem to care. He wanted to understand her side, why she was ruining our meal. It’s a shame, 15 years ago we celebrated my brothers 21st birthday and tonight we hated our experience. This restaurant will probably be out of business in the next few months.
Salo is the only good thing they offer, so I can’t help it but going back to them. Servers are usually inattentive, hostesses are kind of rude. Most of the time I feel really uncomfortable in that atmosphere. Their borscht is okay too.
Wonderful mix of traditional Russian dishes with a modern twist. High quality of food and service. Great energy in the restaurant. Fun staff.
I have been proudly inviting my friends and colleagues to Mari Vanna for many years to introduce them to the interiors and flavors of my childhood. Unfortunately, the circumstances in Mari Vanna are changing not for the best: poorly trained personnel (spilled an entire bootle of water on my friend’s dress and barely apologized or did anything to help), unacceptable overcrowded conditions steal former beauty of an interior, unacceptable noise volume and the menu, which remains in opposite of creative as a standstill. I loved visiting Mari Vanna. I was embarrassed by last dining experience. Very sad... .
Excellent service. Delicious food! Accordion player was also amazing.
Best place to celebrate a girl's birthday! We loved the food, the service and more than anything, the staff singing and the musicians! A lovely experience, not our first at Mari Vanna's and definitely not our last!
Thank you for an enchanting evening!
This was such a fun experience! They have 15 different amazing flavors of vodka. Highly recommend the Russian Cranberry and Black Currant flavors. The whole restaurant is also decorated in the best way and it feels authentic. Best time.
Excellent experience in all aspects.
My only complaint is that they refuse to substitute side dishes, even in case of food allergies. I can not have any dairy; since substitutions were refused, I had to select my main course partly based on the side dishes they came with. This really upset me.
Otherwise, the experience was great.
It was amazing! Food and atmosphere excellent !
This was a special dinner for family and it was perfect in every way. The setting is gorgeous, the food delicious, the atmosphere festive.
Reminded me of my mom’s home cooked food, delicious!
I made a reservation at this restaurant 3 weeks in advance to celebrate a special occasion in a very unique Russian restaurant. Upon being greeted by the host, we indicated we had a reservation for 6:45pm. Then most unexpectedly she followed up by indicating that we must plan to leave the restaurant no later than 8:45 pm. My husband and I who have gone to restaurants throughout the word have never been spoken to this way. This was rude, unprofessional and most definitely soured our dinner experience. Even though the food and service provided by our waiter Alexei were excellent, that did not fix how we were initially treated upon arriving. As a result, we will NEVER come back to this place again.
The food was good, the service indifferent and delayed
Mari Vanna is my favorite russian cuisine restaurant in the city! Really recommend to get reservation for Sunday brunches. Food is amazing, pleasing to the eye interior, good service.
I was in NYC with my sister for her birthday. Although we both loved it, there were some hiccups with service. After our meal I ordered dessert and asked the servers to sing the birthday song (my sister didn't know). I also ordered some tea. Anyway, the dessert was brought out, but no song or tea.
I waited and waited for the tea and finally got up to ask what happened. The girl apologized and told me she will fix everything. About ten minutes later, the servers showed up with additional dessert and sang the birthday song. My sister was caught off guard and she really loved the surprise, however still no tea insight. I did remind them about it again and it was eventually brought out but we were already finished. I was surprised to see it on my bill but didn't want to make a fuss over $4. I wish the servers were more attentive, especially when it's someone's birthday.
An absolutely wonderful place with delicious and interesting fare.
Great Sunday brunch
This place is a true gem!! Incredible atmosphere, delicious food and fantastic service. We were a group of friends celebrating a special Birthday. The accordion player is the bomb!! I can not recommend this place enough!! It will make your NYC trip a memorable one!
Good food long wait a bit pricey..!
Beautiful atmosphere with incredible food! Highly recommend bringing out of town guests here!
Great traditional Russian food, traditional atmosphere, efficient service. A little pricey.
First time at Mari Vanna, food was excellent, decor was very cool and interesting and the service was wonderful. We dined on a Tuesday so wasn't too crowded or loud. Martinis we're yummy!
Sunday brunch food is not very tasty with a poor variety. Personnel is not very attentive. Not bad but I wouldn’t come again.
It was my first time trying Russian cuisine. The food was great, some vegetarian options and the drinks were pretty good too. The restaurant itself is very pretty and takes you back in time to another place. Will definitely dine here again for the help experience.
