Good food and staff
Nice touch / samovar by washroom sink
Very ornate and warm interior deco
Wonderful decor, girly yet cozy and fun! We had a great dinner. Lots of vegetarian choices, fresh ingredients, we thoroughly enjoyed it. It got a bit noisy later in the evening but overall we recommend it and will be back.
Fresh Russian food, Good service, Great Ambiance , Fun Times with Friends
Best Russian restaurant in NYC! We loved the experience and food!
We are from Australia visiting New York and Mari Vanna was truly the most memorable experience.
Absolutely amazing food and service!!!
Great food, great service. Was equally comfortable for English speaker and Russian/Ukranian parents. Putin was not around.
If you want to experience authentic Russian food and environment, this is your place. Also, the decoration is very original.
Delightful, unique atmosphere and delicious Russian specialties. We had blinis and caviar, followed by the best borscht we've ever had. Service from authentic waiters (ours was from the "far east of Russia, near China in fact") was perfect. The accordion player lent a wonderful touch to the evening and when they sang a Russian version of happy birthday it made the evening perfect.
I continue to adore this witty, cozy, doily-pretty journey from it all. Suddenly you are in the Russian countryside enjoying homemade borscht, blinis and honey cakes.
Everything almost beyond fantastic except for the waitress, she’s rushing and did unpleasant gestures.
Wonderful place, what a find! Food is authentic (my husband is of Russian descent and the soup reminded him of what his grandmother used to make!); ambience is wonderful, you will feel transported to a different place; and the prix fixe was excellent value!
Really enjoyed our time at Mari Vanna. We loved all the food, mimosa, and ambiance. My friends from out of town loved it very much and we will definitely be back.
Amazing ambiance. Great stuff. Fantastic birthday celebration.
It was amazing the food the staff the ambiance!
Trip to nyc
Great atmosphere and decor.
Loved it, have been there 3x already and it was always great. Service is awesome and food is served family style so you can try many different dishes.
We were happy with the food overall but they charge $12 per bottle of water without warning which was a bad surprise ending for the evening that left a bad taste. I honestly prefer good old NY tap water to Evian that I never liked in the first place and having to pay $24 for water where vodka shots go for $10 seems a bit unfair.
Branche russe parfait, on se croirait en russie!
This was a jewel of a place, recommended by some neighbors who had gone there. The photos made it look like a ladies' tea shop, but it was much bigger. The food was incredible, and all four of us tried new dishes. We had originally had a reservation for two for my birthday, but they accommodated 2 more who joined us. Everything from the bread to the dessert was outstanding (the chocolate flour pot). We'll keep going back so we can try everything. Even got complementary vodka shots at the end of the meal. A bit loud, however, especially for two of us who are somewhat hard of hearing.
Tasty food, well trained staff.
Sunday brunch is always amazing. Wish they had borsch on the buffet, such a staple disappointing we could not enjoy it.
We had a great time! The food was delicious and the service was attentive and helpful. Beautiful spot too!
Wonderful Russian food. We loved everything! The infused vodka was terrific.
Mari Vanna is one of my favorite restaurants in New York. The food is great, the service -outstanding and the ambience is elegant, casual and cosy - all at the same time.
It is a bit noisy, but still, I use any occasion to go there for dinner with family or friends and happily introduce it to those who don't know it.
Actually, this is the only Russian restaurant I would recommend. Thank you!
Loved the food. Being Ukrainian I enjoyed the overall food and ambiance. Vareniki were awesome as well as the Borscht. Will go there again. The waitress was awesome as well. Didn't have time to talk much to her but have to say she was on top of what we needed/wanted.
Fun ambience and solid Russian-style cooking. The food is a bit overpriced, but the vodkas make it well worth the visit!
Amazing to try a root Russian cousin w a very welcome service ! Loves it and highly recommend.
Meh, below average. I’ve been to many Russian places (including Mari Vanna a few years ago) and i don’t think I’ve had more disappointing experience. And it isn’t cheap there!!
Olivier salad - 3.5/5
Herring - 2.5/5
Beef tongue - 3.5/5
Beef stroganoff - 2/5 (I sent it back)
Honey cake - 5/5
Chocolate cake - 3/5
Vodka - 4/5
Great ambiance with excellent Russian cuisine. We will definitely be back
We found a New Favorite restrauant! We look forward to return!
Can't wait to use the key!
It was a nice friend's get together experience!!! I enjoyed my visit to Mari Vanna in a different way than usual. With no crowds, it was a midweek lunch time. Music, service, coziness of the place on the cold winter day made this visit a really enjoyable one. I want to bring all my friends
and family to this place! So beautiful and welcoming!
One of my favorite spot. The decor is over the top luxury vibe mixed with shabby chic elements. Service is perfect with just the right hint of snobbiness. Food is always out of this world.
High quality food and service and beautiful designe, We had such a great experience. Unfortunately they are not gonna work with open table from 2018.
Have dined here on more than one occasion. The ambiance and the food are incredible.
Fantastic restaurant! My favorite place in New York!
We were dining at Marivanna twice before, and it was great! This time we had friends visiting from Boston and decided to have nice late lunch/early dinner with them at Marivanna. I booked a table for 4 o'clock, but got a call from the restaurant, that they will be closed at 4 and re-scheduled us for 3. First of all, we had tickets to see the concert at Carnegie Hall and needed to leave earlier. But it was probably my fault, I shouldn't agree to move our dinner. And second: it was Sunday brunch at the restaurant. We didn't fine anything special about it. It was buffet with very ordinary Russian food ordinary served. Nothing attractive and authentic I want to show our friends. Plus, I think it is very overpriced. $38 for lunch? Too much money. Everything extra, including even tea and water costed us extra money.
I will still recommend Marivanna, but not for Sunday brunch definitely. It was disappointing.
It's my first time to taste Russian cuisine. Lovely blinis and the chicken is really good. Also romantic environment and very good service.
