The menu offers time honored Russian classics such as the flavorsome customary soup Borsch with Pampushka, Beets, Broth, Beef, Cabbage, Carrots and Potatoes served with Sour Cream in a beautiful tureen that holds enough for seconds or third. Mari Vanna is open for lunch, brunch and dinner 7 days a week.
Went for Sunday brunch buffet. Wonderful food and atmosphere, although I feel it was slightly overpriced for individuals who did not want unlimited alcoholic drinks, I recommend using a separate pricing per person for customers who want the non-alcoholic brunch drinks options.
Best brunch in town by far.
If you like exceptional food and service, with a cosy atmosphere, without loud drunk 20 something year olds, this place is for you.
We come here about 1-2/month and it never dissapoints.
The entire experience was wonderful. Pleasant and attentive service.. food was so very well presented. Every dish was fresh and delicious! We will definitely visit again. Sunday brunch is the perfect way to sample all dishes available.
The Best Russian kitchen restaurant in USA
Will go there ASAP when will be next time in New York!
Very good. Food was delicious!
Wonderful and delicious, could not have chosen a better restaurant for our final night in the city.
Celebrating two birthdays but will go anytime because this restaurant is so enjoyable atmospherically and the food is great. We love the blini appetizer, beef stroganoff, chicken and fish dishes. Had Onegin cake for dessert. We will definitely return.
Great Russian home food in the hart of Manhattan, would recommend to anyone.
Food was absolutely scrumptious and traditional. Creative and tasty cocktails. A really unique and inviting victorian style ambiance with glistening chandeliers and neat decor. Our only issue was with the service - no idea if it was because we were not Russian (or not), but our waiter passed over us 6 or 7 times before serving us our check, after we had finished desert and had nothing else to do but wait. It brought the length of hour meal to about 3 hours, including the pretty long wait to take our orders. All that said, we enjoyed the time spent there, loved the ambiance, and adored the food. Would come back. Just with appropriately budgeted time next occasion.
Have always had a great experience at Mari Vanna. The food is excellent. Lively ambiance. Love the traditional Russian choices on the menu. My favorite is the Siberian Pelmeni.. One of my favorite restaurants in New York and a fun place to take out of town guests who have never experienced Russian cuisine.
I am Russian, and wanted to introduce my bf to traditional Russian food. This was the perfect experience. Russian speaking waiters and the crowd was clearly people from the region. Food was great but a little bit pricey. The decor and atmosphere is really cool though. Bifstroganoff was amazing and dessert looks heavenly.
Great, authentic food!
I like the vibe of authentic Russian houses of 1920s over there and food which reminds me of my childhood. My American date was impressed and liked it as well
WHAT A LOVELY PLACE!
The food an absolute delight. DELIGHT!!!! The atmosphere is charming. The small details like placing a little stool for your bag below you table is so thoughtful.
I highly recommend this place. Staff, Food, Atmosphere, Etiquette, everything, is on point. Such a pleasure!
What a unexpected surprise. I pass in front of it every week and never ventured in until now.
What took me so long
The decor is fresh and relaxing,
the staff is cordial and extremely accommodating.
the food is spectacular and very innovative. Certainly not your typical russian fares.
It is a little pricey but well worth it.
unfortunately if you sit in the back (we where in the front by the window so it was fine) the noise is quite loud especially because they have loud russian music blasting allover the restaurant. A pity because it is certainly not a hot bar scene but rather a romantic welcoming place.
I will certainly go back and tell my friends
Excellent foo, Excellent service a FIVE STAR Experience!
Phenomenal brunch, very authentic and delicious food. Service was exceptional and the atmosphere is beautiful, it’s like a true ferry tale.
Wonderful experience! Staff was amazing and were so friendly and accomodating! Food was delicious!
Great authentic Russian food in a very beautiful “home” environment.
I worked/lived in Russia for 20 years, and this is
The service, decor, cuisine, and overall ambience was impeccable. We are already planning to visit again. Mari Vanna is a treasure.
Amazing and authentic Russian gem in Manhattan. Wide selection of foods and appetizers. Definitely worth trying!
Great place, one of our favorites. Fantastic food great atmosphere in many levels. A bit on the pricey side, but that’s capitalism.
Excellent food with great service. Live music, amazing infused vodka. Great spot for a date or a party.
Great accordion player in addition to authentic Russian cuisine and very attractive surroundings.
The restaurant is totally charming; ambience is excellent. However, we felt the food was not as traditional as we expected. There were a lot of seafood dishes that seemed more American than Russian fare.
I love Mari Vanna. The food is good, the waiters are lovely, and the ambience is completely charming. Also, the prix fixe lunch is a terrific value... two generous courses for $26.00. It is a place where you can enjoy your food and have a conversation in a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere, something not easy to find anymore.
Great place. We always enjoy it. Food is amazing as well.
Well prepared Russian/Ukrainian food in a setting that feels like your Russian grandmother’s cottage. Friendly staff. I’ve enjoyed my two recent visits, & I’ll go back.
My favorite place in NYC. Very friendly service.
Russian food is authentic and served by waiters and waitresses ho hail from Russian speaking countries. The decor is a kitschy homey version of a late 19th century Russian home, with samovars, patterned China and tea in glasses with metal holders.
It’s a really fun place.
poor selection of food considering russian cuisine.
Interior is only thing which you can enjoy immensily.
A little expensive but food an atmosphere are always good
Amazing ambience, service was attentive but not overdone, and every dish we ordered was well-cooked and well-portioned
Great atmosphere with wonderful food. A terrific Russian experience. The desserts are particularly good.
good food. Friendly, & attentive service. not cheap but less than I expected considering the area and type of restaurant it is.
One of the best brunch experiences in NYC and by far the best (maybe only) Russian brunch experience. Always a delightful and authentic experience with great Russian dishes including varenekey, pelmeni, all of the salads and fabulous borscht!
