We served Californian elevated comfort cuisine and hyper-seasonal menus!
MARGARET ANN MCINNIS, A FIRST GENERATION IRISH-AMERICAN RAISED IN OAKLAND, BLESSED WITH CLASSICAL BEAUTY AND A SHARP WIT, MET HER PARTNER OF 61 YEARS, ART VERGE, AT ST. MARY’S COLLEGE IN MORAGA, CALIFORNIA. MARGO WAS AHEAD OF HER TIME, A COLLEGE GIRL IN THE LATE ‘40S. ART WAS UNLIKE ANYONE THE LIBERAL ARTS MAJOR HAD EVER MET: A STUDENT-ATHLETE ENROLLED IN PRE-LAW THANKS TO THE GI BILL, AND A MEMBER OF THE COLLEGE SWIM TEAM. ART LOST HIS MOTHER AND SISTER AT AN EARLY AGE AND HIS FATHER, A PROMINENT SANTA MONICA ATTORNEY, IN HIS TEENS. HE SIGNED UP FOR WWII SERVICE, JOINING THE NAVY AT 17. ART MADE HER LAUGH. MARGO FELL IN LOVE AND FOLLOWED HER HEART TO LA.

We came to celebrate my husband's birthday. We ordered the dine LA menu. The complimentary wine were great. I ordered the scallop for the main course and lamb chop for my husband. I had one bit and realized it has bacon in it and I do not eat bacon. The young lady took it back and replaced with the Mahi-Mahi curry which was delicious. The lamb chop was tender and tasty. For dessert we both had chocolate cake with olive oil and it was so good. I will definitely come back and recommend to my friends. Our compliment to the chef and grateful to our server to make my dinner experience wonderful!
The Dine la menu is absolutely not worth it. The appetizer -strawberry salad was probably the best out of 3 other options offered. The main meal scallops (3 pieces) served on top of very very sour sauerkraut - bad choice! You really need some bread to eat this sour sauerkraut! The 2 toasted pieces of bread ( no one asked to toast them!) was served after 3 reminders. Chocolate desert was the worse one we ever had and we are the chocolate lovers.
The $49 Dine LA is outrageous for this food.
I would rather this menu offered a tasty chicken or fish instead of scallops but prepared correctly.
We had a great night with our dog at MARGO’s, not just great food, but also great service (way to go TIA!!).
At Margos they are more than dog friendly: they are PEOPLE FRIENDLY! A rare geem in StMonica!
Perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect..
I have already recommended Margo's to friends who live nearby as my experience was lovely. There have been many iterations of restaurants in this space but having lived in Santa Monica for over 15 years I must say Margo's is my favorite so far.
The food was lovely, served in a timely manner by our lovely and attentive server. The selections were tempting and for our meal the outstanding items were the Grilled Octopus appetizer and the Panzanella Salad. Largest chunk of Burrata to send you into cheese heaven!
This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and we will be back!
Nothing was spectacular, but it was all okay. It was overpriced and service was extraordinarily slow. They need to hire more employees.
First time at Margo's. Nice ambiance, service, and the food was very good.
Will definitely visit again!
What a great place! Love that we can walk there. Great happy hour as well. Steak Tartare is amazing and so are the Mussels. We also had gazpacho for the first time tonight and it was so delicious. Highly recommend Margos from one foodie family to the next! Enjoy, you won’t be disappointed.
Margo’s is now my go-to neighborhood favorite! Thank heaven it’s a block away! I had the spring soup yesterday with chicken—absolute heaven! Every time we go out for a meal now we always wind up there!
I really like that they have the bottomless mimosa option. I wish their brunch menu had some more options, but overall it was good.
Margot’s treated our tiny wedding party with easy, warm hospitality. This establishment doesn’t need to compete with the hoity-toity’s on the Montana strip. It makes a statement with well conceived menu and a stylish, welcoming ambience at a price most can afford. Margot is as my new go-to spot for a casual dining or to show off to out-of-towners. The burger is totally boss. The tartare is a party in your mouth. The cod is exotic, earthy and original. And our cocktails were artfully and classically made. Brava!
Presentation of food boring
Wine came after dinner

Overall very disappointing
Went for happy hour. Service was typical of my past few experiences—cheerful but distracted. Hostess was surprised we had a reservation, then equally surprised to find an available table. Service was fine; the mussels were excellent.
Our food and drinks were good. Everyone enjoyed the food at the table. Service was slow when they weren’t that busy on a Sunday night. Server was very accommodating just not super efficient.
server not that friendly, weak coffee and expressos
A tasty local treat with full bar and accessible menu
It is a beautiful venue to be with friends, family, or anyone else. Uplifting.
Convenient neighborhood place. recently became rather high priced for the quality dlivered.
Waiter was super nice and the food was delicious. Not super huge portions, which is a positive right before the summer :)
My friend has a dairy allergy and was told the green goddess dressing was dairy free...luckily, another wait-person overheard this and corrected our order. STAFF AT ALL RESTAURANTS NEED TO TAKE ALLERGIES SERIOUSLY!!! Other than that, the food was wonderful.
The spring soup was amazing: light, fresh and delicate with interesting blends of flavor in each bite.
The black cod was so delicious my sister and I nearly swooned, each bite making us look at each other and cast our eyes heavenward in delight.
Our server was adept, personable, and recommended the correct wines.
A wonderful dining experience. Margo is now at the top of my list.
Food was disappointing. The few dishes that they had were served burnt.
Bottomless mimosas were great, I got the grilled chicken sandwich and my friend got the spring soup and turkey burger. We both enjoyed our meals! Great food, service and ambiance!
Excellent food, great ambiance and good service. I would recommend it to anyone.
My friend and I been to lunch twice at Margo's, both times we have a lovely experience . Great location, great food and the waitstaff very gracious when we sat long after our lunch to talk. Definitely will go again.
Our dessert took forever, and the entrees are a bit overpriced (typical for the neighborhood, though), but Margo's is otherwise very pleasant, and the food is good.
Love Margo's, but few gluten free options (...and sometimes we don't want salad!)
The food was ok - not terrible but certainly not great. The service was NOT good...we saw our waiter twice in 2 hours and they totally forgot about the birthday at our table. It was just not ok.
The service was really bad. It took about 25 minutes to have a server come and ask if I wanted anything to drink. We ordered 2 apps to share and a main course and everything came out at the same time. Silly. Food was just meh, not worth the price.
Loved the food--but left with relief from the "more than energetic noise level"
I might try it again during the week. More and more restaurants are much too noisy and they take away from the fun of eating out.
Social Hour is awesome! We loved all the dishes-- perfect fries, delicious tacos, cheese bread yum, excellent cocktail, my son loved the sliders, my daughter are up the Caesar salad. Very nice servers. 😃
This was my second visit and has to have the black cod fish...the best. Every ingredients are fresh and delicios.
Baguette was on the menu with mussels and frites but they had none and said it was supposed to be taken off the menu. No spoon for the broth, and we were served an opened and half empty bottle of Ginger Beer. They are trying but customer service is not there yet.
I really want to love this neighborhood place, but it’s just okay food-wise. I’ve had a burger and an omelette here and both were serviceable. I think I’ll stick to Lunetta All Day where every ingredient seems to be really well thought out and special.
Excellent well-prepared food and cocktails, though $72 for two appetizers and two drinks is a bit steep. Service was borderline neglectful to start, but improved.
The service was excellent with an attentive wait staff. The food was tasty and a decent portion. Reasonable but not inexpensive pricing, it was worth it for an intimate date.
Even though we were late for or reservation, they found us a table immediately. Food and service were excellent.
Great service and great food. The hostesses were extremely accommodating. Will definitely be back.
The soup (beet) had no flavor and the red snapper tasted fishy
