Food was cold
Service was very slow
Yet they were extremely nucr
Wonderful experience. Staff was amazing and the food was exceptional. Highly recommend this restaurant
James always takes such good care of me and it was a pleasure to see all of my "regulars." They always make me feel so welcome. The food and service are exceptional, as is the ambiance.
I depend on lunch out on Saturdays to recover from a stressful, tiring week - and - Margeaux never disappoints.
Kudos to everyone and THANK YOU.
Great food and amazing service. The server was very knowledgeable and super attentive.
As I was researching the best Dover sole in Chicago I was directed to Margeaux a Dover sole should always be presented whole to the guest and filleted in front of them ! Not in the kitchen when paying top $ it needs to be done the right way , furthermore white table cloths should be on the table for dinner ! I am aware this restaurant is a BRASSERIE but it is more the ambiance of a bar ! Step it up WALDORF!
I love this place......food is always super tasty, perfect temp and traditional French cuisine. I had the sole.....amazing. Perfect. Service was great as well. Highly recommend. And.....it doesn’t feel like a hotel restaurant. Much more intimate......
Delicious food, service on point, and lovely atmosphere.
Food and service was Fantastic!
This restaurant is going on our permanent rotation when visiting downtown.
Thanks for everything MB!
Great place to eat. The best service staff. The ambiance of the restaurant is very comforting to sit down and enjoy a wonderful dining experience.
Loved the French bistro ambiance. Food and service was perfect. Lucky to be their on a live music day. Great special occasion restaurant.
Very good food. Service was very good most of the time but one of our guests had to wait almost 30 minutes each time for her non-alcoholic drink. I had the mushroom ravioli and it was very delicious. The mussels and escargot as apps were very good as well. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We hung at the bar for a bit after dinner and service was pretty slow for not being crowded at all. Didn't seem like they wanted us there.
We have been there twice and enjoyed the ambiance and the food was great!
The wait staff was very attentive and friendly! I would recommend eating there.
Food and service once again superb. Duck breast and foie grasse remain our favorites. But the mussels with pork or bacon bits is now a close second for starters. Charred Brussel sprouts (and I am not normally a fan) are superb
Family brunch there yesterday. What a lovely space. Wonderful service. Great sounding menu. Terrific trio playing music. Most of my family thoroughly enjoyed their meal but I did not - french omelet was very over cooked. Better luck next time.
Doug, Glad we could share some Sunday Brunch love with you. We hope to have you back soon, and impress you with our food then! We hope you were able to still enjoy your Sunday! Merci! The Margeaux Brasserie Team
We enjoyed a perfect night out at Margeaux Brasserie.
Therese, We enjoyed having you for a lovely night out on the town! Come join us again soon for another great evening! Merci! The Margeaux Brasserie Team
Wonderful experience. Food is always lovely. Service is also always attentive, especially the sommelier. And the ambiance is exquisite.
Waiter was quick was us, and didn’t take drink order. Gave us a lunch menu when we asked for a kids menu, and it served hamburgers and chicken strips (for breakfast), we inquired and got a quick answer that they only have lunch menus for children and he could make eggs or “something like that”. I waited 15 minutes for coffee after asking repeatedly and ended up with a burnt coffee.
Brad, We are sorry to hear that this was your experience with us. We certainly do have a breakfast menu for children, and will be sure that our whole team knows this moving forward. We hope that this did not tarnish your start to the New Year, and that we will see you again soon. Merci, The Margeaux Brasserie Team
My experience on New Years Day was delightful. It was a total surprise to have a delicious brunch and listen to some great music. I didn't expect to see my favorite brunch band playing other than on a Sunday. My meal and the service and the bartender didn't disappoint. Outstanding as always.
Service was slow took forever to get our food. We went when they 1st opened and we thought it w
As just because it was new, but it was still very slow!!
My burger was good but for my gf’s lobster Benedict it wasn’t. The eggs on her meal were hard boiled not poached which had her meal requested back to get them poached and took a while.
Always love this place- great for breakfast, lunch or an intimate dinner.
We dined at the beautiful Margeaux Brasserie for New Years Eve and the hostess spot on honoring our reservation time. Unfortunately, it took our rarely visible waiter 15 minutes to acknowledge our presence at the table. No offer of drink, no bread, just the busperson pouring water. We ordered the prix fixe menu with wine pairings and our waiter never once provided information about what we were ordering or eating. I wish we had the waiter at the next table over who was clearly engaged. The sparkly sommelier did a wonderful job of showing the wines and asked how we were enjoying the meal. The plate servers were very nice. The food was very good on average but with both highlights and lowlights; the delicious tasting fois gras was soupy, like eating luxurious gravy. The second course was only moderately warm but not hot. The meat entrees were very good and perfectly cooked. The cheese course had clearly been plated well in advance; the two small bread slices were rock hard, the cheddar was glossy and unappetizing, the brie melted. What a huge disappointment! The dessert was a perfectly poached pear. The absolute lowlight was the child in attendance with his parents who occasionally shrieked at the table and ended the evening running around the tables chased by his parent. Hard to have a romantic evening when the jazz quartet is accompanied by a screeching child. Not sure whether to blame the parents or the hostess who seated a four year old in the middle of the bar dining room at 10:00 pm. So overall it was fine- but very inconsistent service and inconsistent food courses make me say it was not what I was hoping for on New Years Eve at $250 per person.
Celebrating New Years Eve and first time going out with friends who have kids as well. Great experience staff was patient and willing to answer any question. Great service , great food and amazing ambiance!
New Years Eve
Excellent food with great service but very noisy... literally the best sole and baked Alaska ever!!!
Excellent food and drinks in general. Beautiful space. I do wish the food was more consistent though, sometimes the food is great and other times the same dishes are just ok.
Terrible food and service. Was not expecting this from the Waldorf.
We had a server who was not great at addressing issues. We expressly said no garlic and dish came with lots of sliced garlic. Also no mention of olives in dish and not a big fan of olives. Had to pick out garlic and olives. Not a huge issue but when explained to waiter he was not very helpful, dismissed us (annoyed my wife to no end), said he could add a dessert for our troubles. We were not looking for anything other than "I'm sorry, can I replace the entree or get you something else you would enjoy. I will let the chef know as well.". Manager came over making rounds and we explained issues. He said they will change menu to reflect all major ingredients including olives for that dish and speak with chef re why garlic in dish. He comped the entree and was much better at handling issues. Overall, food was good and we would go back.
Bonsoir, We are so sorry to hear that you had this experience with us. We hope you will join us again in the future, so we can show you the care we put into our guests experiences. Merci, The Margeaux Brasserie Team
Having been an employee for Michael Mina, I was thrilled to take my family to Margeaux Brasserie so they could experience the highest level of food, beverage, and service that myself and my staff provided at Saltwater in Detroit for many years. I thought the food and beverage was solid but the service was terrible. Everything seem to take so long (drinks, app, entrees) which was disheartening since the dining room was only half full. Our server was constantly disappearing. We asked for the dessert menu, it was never offered. We flagged him down to have the check presented and then my 10 year old daughter spotted him in the side station and grab the check and gave it to him there (she did well during the first 2 hours!). His co-workers seemed to have a good laugh at that!
I expected a lot more and I’m sure It would not have been acceptable to Chef Mina!
We are so sorry to know that this is the level of service we provided for you and your family. We love for our guests to experience amazing service & food, and it seems we were not able to for you. We would love to have you return with us, so we can show you the amazing service we provide to our guests. The Margeaux Brasserie Team
Service was spot on, the food was delicious 😋. We will be back again. Thank you for an amazing time!!!
Thank you for joining us & allowing us to make an ordinary night so wonderful! We look forward to seeing you again soon for another amazing evening! The Margeaux Brasserie Team
Great spot for lunch and conversation! Everything was perfect.
We’ve been here on special occasions before and had a wonderful time. This time it was “meh”. Likely won’t go back other better experiences sadly.
Our server was very nice and friendly, but there could have been more attention to detail given the cost (dishes set down with no utensils, water bottle left empty for most of the meal, skirt steak was sliced with the grain instead of against the grain, so while cooked to the perfect temp, was a bit chewy)
My wife and I had dinner on Christmas Day in the evening. It had been a long for everyone there I am sure. In spite of that we received the "red carpet" treatment. We explained our dietary restrictions to our waitress. She got the head chef involved and they came up with a wonderful solution.
Our meal and drinks were outstanding.
Then the ambiance of the Waldorf put everything over the top.
I would highly recommend Margeaux Brasserie for any special occasion. Or even if you want to just plain feel special on a given evening.
I arrived at 6:50 for 7:00 reservation. I was seated within five minutes. However, it took another 15 minutes before my waiter appeared. She wanted both my cocktail order and my dinner order before departing the table. I ordered a Botanist Gibson but . . . After several minutes I was informed by the sommelier that Botanist wasn’t available. I settled for Hendricks. While still waiting for the cocktail, a server brought my starter course. I sent it back. The waiter offered bread and butter. The baguette was so hard that I couldn’t eat it. Ever had microwaved bread? That is what it was like. Halfway through my cocktail, the starter was presented again and I accepted it. The sommelier reappeared to ask if I wanted wine. She was helpful and I ordered a glass. Then my main course arrived. Prime rib, creamed spinach and Yorkshire pudding. Only the prime rib met my expectations. The creme brûlée dessert was more like pudding than creme brûlée. All in all, a disappointing experience on a special evening.
Waitress was high off something. Lobster bisque was slightly burnt flavored. Service was slow.
Nothing really great about the Christmas brunch..Food & experience were average. We love the hotel, spa and bar.
We had dinner at the restaurant last year that we really enjoyed so not sure why brunch was so blah...
Christmas Day brunch.
Not a special occasion for this venue at all
Service we can always forgive on busy days, but the food was terrible and expensive.
It’s hard to mess up avocado toast, but at $18 and one cold bit of toast, this place managed it
A waste of time and money
Overall good experience. Food is pretty rick and done well.
We were disappointed. The place was very loud (at least until the crowd thinned), making conversation at a table of 4 nearly impossible. The service was too slow, especially between the appetizers and main course. The food was well seasoned and tasty but our duck breast was overdone and tough. Overall, a disappointment.
