We celebrated our 30rd anniversary there on Monday. Great service and delicious steaks. The sommelier was so knowledgeable and helpful. The cheeses she chose paired perfectly with the wine. So good. We’ll be back.

My guests and I sat in a cozy corner and greatly enjoyed the Brasserie atmosphere at Margeaux. The food was Superior, the lobster gnocchi was a delight. We were also impressed by the great American food with a French flair like the Macaroni Gratiné and the Au Poivre Burger. My guests discussed if the Magret breast should have a crispier skin to be enjoyed but we were overall impressed. Beyond the atmosphere and selection of food, it is our server Alex who made the night memorable. Our server was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and showed us a great time. The ambiance and food will bring me back to Margeaux, and the experience provided by Alex and his team will make me recommend this restaurant to everyone in Chicago.

Like a date in Paris in the beautiful near north of Chicago. The food ,bottomless sparkling Rose,music trio and ambience were all wonderful. Our waiter Jack for brunch was terrific.

No baguettes at brunch was a turn off. Also asked to be seated in the room by the corner of rush where it’s much lighter, but were told it was for other reservations (we had reservations). Those tables sat empty our whole meal...

This restaurant exceeded our high expectations. The menu had so many good choices that made it hard to decide what to order. Everything we did order was delicious, so now we just have to go back to taste the items we didn't choose. Another positive was that the restaurant was quiet enough to comfortably carry on a conversation, while still having a very nice ambience. We will definitely go back sooner than later!

My husband I ate here for my birthday. It was amazing. I literally couldn’t find anything to complain about 😂😂. We had a charcuterie board for an appetizer, everything on it was amazing! I had the ‘smoke and honey’ cocktail, which was mixed perfectly; the rosemary spring gave an excellent aroma when sipping this concoction. For dinner I ordered the braised short run with chanterelles and Boursin polenta....seriously.......there are no words worthy of describing this dish. It was absolutely perfect, there wasn’t any improvement that could have been made. My husband had the steak frites, which was perfectly cooked and so tender. It was served with the most epic duck fat fries ever. Super good. There were plenty of other dishes and cocktails worth ordering, I would happily go again and I highly recommend to anyone looking to have a nice low key romantic dinner. Loved it.

We really enjoyed our lunch, the chicken was delicious, perfectly cooked and the sauce was exquisite. My Mom raved about the salmon, a generous piece and she savored every bite. The complimentary birthday dessert was greatly appreciated with our cappuccino's to end our meal.

Drove 45 miles downtown just to try this restaurant. We were hoping for an authentic french bistro experience - instead we were disappointed. First we started with what sounded like a great appetizer - the orange duck wings. First off, if they were wings I will eat my hat. They were the length of chicken legs but nonetheless they were gooey and crunchy at the same time which was very pleasant. The part that wasn't pleasant was that there wasn't one drop of orange taste anywhere in the dish. Where was the orange zest? Was there orange juice used in the glaze? If so, you would never know it. Tasted exactly like honey and brown sugar and that is all. Darn. Hubby ordered crab and endive caesar salad. Dressing way too sour, too much of it and hard to find the crab. Was kind of boring he said. I had the Croque Monsieur which was a joke. First off the sandwich was at least 6 inches high because it had a 2 inch thick grilled chicken breast on each side of the ham and cheese sandwich. The bread was egg brioche (instead of good hearty french bread) and it was barely toasted. Worse of all was the Beschamel served on the side was sour as heck. Either used vinegar or lemon juice which spoiled the taste - was awful. I took off all the grilled chicken which was dry and unseasoned and just ate the ham/cheese and some bread which was way too thick and soft. Julia Child would turn over in her grave if she saw this mess. I had the Frites which reminded me of Wendy's fries. They were seasoned and fairly crispy. I wish they had been closer to shoestrings tho. Be wary, we wanted to get a glass of the German Reisling but saw it said 2007. Whoever heard of a German white wine being good past 2-3 years at the most? 12 years - no thank you. Everyone knows German Reisling wines do not age. Hate to say it but Michael Mina needs to either take his name off this restaurant or get more involved. Pass.

Reserved for what I thought would be lunch; actually, only brunch served. Brunch menu was somewhat limited, strictly a la carte. Food was competently prepared, appetizing, well presented. The prices were high for the quality served, but this was not a surprise -- I knew we were at the Waldorf Astoria -- and the ambient was certainly pleasant. There was no table cloth (somewhat irksome for a restaurant of some pretention), but more importantly the service was unacceptable. The waiters were certainly pleasant and obviously seeking to please, but it was apparent they had received no instruction as to how a table is served in an upper shelf restaurant (eg, the silverware was strewn sort of in the vicinity of the client, the plates were handed to the client rather than properly placed in front of the client, the servers' attention was a bit distant, etc.). Before we finished the first course, they simply brought the main course, handing the plates to us across the table. I thought they were going to leave the appetizer plates there, but they did redeem themselves, sort of, by withdrawing the plates well before we had finished them. In brief, we enjoyed the brunch, and the restaurant was good for conversation. The food was good if not distinguished. I blame the inadequate service on administration; it was apparent the waiters were hired and told to go serve a table, rather than anyone taking the time to show them the details and finesse of careful waiting at table. OK place. I might give it another chance during dinner time. Otherwise I would not plan to return.

We visited Margeaux Brasserie on the recommendation of the manager Chad Noce at FarmTable Cucina in St. Petersburg, Florida. Chad's suggestion was on point! Brunch was fabulous, everything we chose to eat was an excellent selection and on our next visit to Chicago we will dine at Margeaux again.

We gave it four stars overall because the menu has an option for "Everlasting Rose - sommelier’s selection of everlasting rosé choice of still or sparkling to accompany your entire brunch". We chose the sparkling selection and out came a sparkling wine from New Mexico, USA. Margeaux is a french-themed restaurant; we thought the sparkling choice should have at least been a French sparkling wine.

Margeaux has become one of our, if not, favorite restaurants in Chicago. The food is wonderful but the service is exceptional and they the staff makes you feel like you are their best customer every time you go. Special mention to Nicole, the sommelier who is beyond terrific. And thanks to Jose for the attention to special requests and details.

Outstanding meal in a beautiful and romantic setting. Service was top notch, cocktails were great, The short ribs were amazing. The pork chop was the best I’ve ever had. A wonderful venue to celebrate our 39th anniversary.

I always have a wonderful time at Margeaux. The staff make me feel like a VIP. My favorite bartender makes a great drink. The cuisine is always first rate. The band on Sunday was outstanding. I am looking forward to getting news when the Thanksgiving and Christmas menus have been finalized. My Sister is making a rare visit this Christmas and I told her about Margeaux and she is really looking forward to having Christmas dinner with you all.

Wonderful environment with an outstanding waiter. Very patient and explained everything. I found the egg white omelette very mediocre. There was more cheese than eight white and it was just poorly made. Price is high for poor quality food

I do not normally write reviews but I was so pleasantly impressed with my entire experience here I had to let everyone know! My girlfriend and I went for my 35th birthday dinner after which we had to meet a group of my friends at another location downtown. It was a bit of a run around plan and we also had 35 cupcakes with us to be concerned about. From the moment we arrived at the Waldorf Astoria (were Margeaux is located) the service staff went above and beyond to make sure all our concerns were at ease and we did not have to worry about anything! The took my car, put my cupcakes in a refrigerator and kindly guided us to the Brasserie. Then we got up to Margeaux's the hostess was beyond friendly and our water Alex was wonderful. He suggested great champagne and wine pairings with our meals and was keen enough to make a wonderful off the menu suggestion for my girlfriend who is a vegetarian (which resulted in a dish dish she loved and said should be on the menu - basically it was the lobster gnocchi sans lobster.. but they substituted with amazing assortment of vegetables). I got the duck which was done to perfection. Also, as it was clearly my birthday - I was in a bright fuchsia tulle skirt - the staff were very engaging and friendly too and offered to take plenty of b-day pics for us. We had such a good time we forgot what time it was and then when we realized we had to rush out - again their exemplary customer service - made even a rushed exit seem seamless - they quickly packed up our left overs, and had my car and cupcakes safe and cool packed in my car waiting for me.

I tend to frequent nice hotels like the Langham or the Four Seasons and so am familiar with good service, but the service at the Waldorf/Margeaux Brasserie stood out because every single person genuinely went above and beyond to make sure I did not have a single concern - and for a Leo woman turning 35 - that is everything! I will definitely be planning a stay-cation their soon!

We went for a birthday brunch on Sunday. The food was really good and quite reasonable for the quality and neighborhood. The live jazz band made my birthday a real treat and it was an unexpected bonus to a happy day!
