Hip all-day hotel cafe with an old-world vibe serving seasonal French-Mediterranean fare & drinks.
We wanted a good spot for the pride march this worked out perfectly!
Excellent food, service presentation and taste, as well as attending. Very accommodating and we went with our two year old. Wonderful experience.
The meat was undercooked and needed 3 tries to get right, the vegetables looked and tasted terrible
Sea Food not fresh!
Good for brunch but not for dinner.
I have been to Margaux before and had a much better experience but that was also 1.5 years ago.
This time the service was extremely slow and the restaurant was nearly empty. The food was sub par to say the least. I ordered the bucatini which is supposedly one of the best things on the menu and it lacked all flavor- the lobster in the dish was chewy and tasted of rubber meanwhile the bucatini pasta itself was good everything else about the dish was honestly not even worth ordering. The only redeeming quality of the dinner was the french fries that came with the burger.
If youre going for appetizers or to sit outside, this is great! Otherwise - entree is a bit of a miss (lacked flavor) and the service was unfriendly.
Brunch menu looked interesting but execution was lacking. My scrambled eggs with cured salmon looked like it was from a diner and came with one small slice of toast.
Nice venue with less than diner service. Mediocre food. But so much potential if someone managed it right. Why are you ignoring the reviews on consistently awful service?
Good food. Pretty space. Pleasant service but extremely slow.
The food here is outstanding, and the service is good. The wine is rather overpriced however.
Although the food was good and our server was attentive, the host was not welcoming and the bartender stopped pouring our glasses of preseco for some reason. I made a reservation to celebrate a friends birthday and one of the guests brought two balloons. When I asked the host where I could put them, she said: "I don't care as long as they are not in the way". I then went to our table and wrapped them around chairs on my hands an knees while the host and others stood watching me with their arms crossed. Not one person asked if they could assist me, I was very confused by that. Working as a host myself, I would never say to a customer "I don't care" and I would CERTAINLY assist them to ensure the balloons would be placed where they wouldn't bother anyone; I work there, I would know best. The $700 spent was not worth it considering the lack of service.
Amazing. Excellent service. Great atmosphere.
Would I recommend Margaux to a friend? Hmmm... maybe. If they are looking for a beautiful space for a mediocre drink or meal. I thought the food was a bit overpriced for the quality and the service was pretty bad. My drink was empty before the waiter even came to take our food order and I don't drink quickly. Actually it wasn't even our waiter. My husband had to flag down someone else because our waiter would not stop at our table.
A nice, cozy village bistro. Food and service were top notch.
A cozy, old fashioned West Village restaurant, perfect for a winter supper. Super cute and comfortable with an easy comfortable menu - lots of pastas, roast chicken, burgers. Slightly expensive for the size of the plates - on the other hand, it IS the West Village and the location is unbeatable. We loved the farmer's plate appetizer, the scallops were delicious and so was the burger - grass-fed, which is crucial. However, the kale salad was dry and hard and not even worth eating which is somewhat shocking in today's kale-centric world. Sadly, coming from LA, the gluten-free and vegan options are limited, too.
Bad service, very mediocre food. Not a winning combination in Manhattan. There are hundreds of better places to spend your money in Greenwich village.
Absolutely amazing in every aspect, can’t wait to dine here again!
Very nice restaurant with a cool vibe. Good cocktails. Food was very good, but menu, a bit limited. Also a bit heavy, not many choices for something lite although the scallops we're great.
Nutella ice cream sandwiches we're huge and not tasty. May want to try that one again. Cookies were hard and not sure where the Nutella was.
Stayed at the Hotel and had brunch the day we left. Great food and great service. The ambience and decor was also a plus plus.
Had a nice time with friends
Food was good, atmosphere was charming, reasonable wine list. But staff was meh, host & waiter were fine, but not friendly or warm. The runner was the best staff person, lovely.
Needed a night out. So glad we chose Margaux!
It was a lovely holiday dinner!
Quiet and well-designed space; service a little uneven. Appetizers were good but the burgers were rubbery with oversized somewhat tough buns.
waste of time and money.
waste of time and money.
Limited menu and no atmosphere. Our waiter forgot several things we ordered and the place looks run down
Very disappointing. Not at all as described or pictured. More like a high-class diner than a restaurant. Food was uninteresting. Everything seemed pureed and overcooked.
Margaux is one of our favorite special neighborhood spot. Food is comforting and delicious! Service is warm and welcoming! Thank you AMAR for taking such good care of us! Ambiance is classy, chic and comfortable!
Excellent service; able to find a quiet table; delicious food.
Ordered a pasta it came out cold and we ordered muscles and half were served closed. Ambiance is nice bummer the food wasn’t up to the standards. I overall would not recommend this place for the food. Very disappointing!
Margaux is a great place to go if you just want some food that you know is going to be good and simple. I’ve been there a few times now. Everything on the menu is outstanding. The cocktails are delish. They have a nice little patio area or they have sumptuous round booths. I almost don’t want to hype this restaurant because I love how easy it is to eat there. I always feel great after a meal there.
I've been here before and was disappointed in this visit. The waitress was sweet but very green....we ordered white wine and she just poured, no tasting. Then she poured each of us huge glasses almost to the too - why??? I was trying to say stop but it was too late. Ordered apps first - thank goodness we didn't order entrees at same time. Apps out in 2 minutes, ordered entrees later, out in FIVE minutes. I had risotto! Mushy, gross. It was like everyone in the kitchen had a party to go to and wanted to clear out the place as fast as possible. It's a f riday, and this isn't pre theater- what in the world is the rush? We were super irritated. Very different from past experiences, won't be rushing back.
My only co plaint is that the kale salad was so overt spiced I could not eat it. And I specifically asked about strong biting spices. Disappointing.
The best place in town when you want to spend hours catching up with friends - nobody rushes you, it is wonderfully quiet. Love, love, love this place!
It's a great place to meet friends for quiet conversation.
Always reliably delicious! Service is also quite good.
The garden room is lovely for an early weekday dinner - the plants and the light create a special feeling. Menu was much more limited than what I saw on the website, which was disappointing. Food was ok (except for very skimpy amuse bouch) but nothing that would draw me back. Maybe return just for drinks next time.
Not too crowded. Good food. Decent service.
Lovely in many ways, but am thinking of not going again simply because every time I go, drinks are shorted. Every single time. A cosmo on the rocks in a small oval glass that costs 16 or 17 bucks shouldn't be 2/3 full, mostly with ice, right? There's something going on with the bartender that needs to be corrected.
