Worthy upgrade to a great restaurant. The new decór is airy, with nice mid century touches and lighter, warmer colors. The brunch buffet includes some nice French touches including crepes, mini croques monsieurs, etc. The menu has a few things that stood out from standard hotel brunch. The steak Benedict was tasty but standard. The soufflé pancakes were amazing with house made lemon curd, fresh fruit, granola and syrup and are a must order.
It was well done. Our server Marilyn was Dynamo! It's such a great space that the only way it can be filled is with a first class presentation.
Food well prepared and artistically presented. lamb sausage was tasty, trout excellent and salmon wellington perfectly cooked. The asparagus with the salmon was the absolute best restaurant asparagus I've ever tasted. Would pay for it by itself! Disappointed that they were out of sardines and the radish app was just a plate full of radishes. Had eaten the night before at Smith & Wollensky, Margaux was better food, better value.
We were very disappointed with your restaurant...it certainly didn't meet our hopes and expectations. We found the whole operation to be very pretentious and overpriced. If the food and atmosphere had been of high quality, the cost would have been acceptable, as this was a special occasion for us. The lack of professionalism was obvious in all areas.
The young man at the Valet service didn't recognize the name of the restaurant and told us we were at the wrong location. The waitress's blouse was ill-fitting and exposing; the manager was wearing skin-tight ankle-length pants, no socks and a jacket too small and tight to button. That was the first impressions.
The menu was impressive to read but the food when served was mediocre. The presentation was amateur and the quality only average. My husband ordered the cold seafood tower which turned out to be a small amount of seafood served on a ridiculously high bed of ice and set on top of a pizza stand. The dessert (poached pear) was pathetic...wet, soggy and tasteless. So very disappointing.
My husband is a retired executive chef and I have a BS degree in hotel management, so perhaps our expectations are higher than others but I would think your goal would be to meet them rather than be satisfied with mediocre results.
Compared to the French restaurants in Old Montreal where the staff take great pride in their work and are true professionals in every sense of the word, their restaurants offer such a warm. relaxing ambiance that it makes guests want to linger. The professionalism and finesse is genuine not fake. Margaux needs a lot of polish...it just doesn't measure up. Sorry...
Excellent food, impeccable yet comfortable service. And the cost was less than I would have expected for such a great experience.
We had guests in from out of town and took them here. Our experience was terrific with Brandon as our server. He was attentive, honest in his recommendations, and provided top notch service.
We had the mussels (huge bowl of them) with a tasty broth to dip fresh, crusty bread into. The charcuterie board which was well appointed and delicious along with yummy French onion soup that wasn’t too salty.
The scallops, short rib, and lamb (what we ordered) were all well done, nice portions, and tasty!
The chocolate molten cake with the malt ice cream was ridiculously good!
We’ll definitely be back ♥️
Good experience and loved the ambience. Entrees were wonderful. Had the lamb and scallops and olives and steak tartare for appetizers. The steak tartare was a really disappointment. So spicy it made our mouths burn and we couldn’t even taste the beef. The lamb was excellent and the scallops and a very generous portion with some mussels as well.
Great service and food!
I have been to 616 multiple times and this was my first visit since the partial renovation and rebranding. A lot of the menu was similar to 616. I had the New York strip which was lukewarm, mostly due to the sauce poured over it and not as good as the 616 version. The wine list did seem more interesting with greater French options. A decent option for a last minute reservation given it doesn’t seem to fill up.
The food was very good and service excellent. Had a NY Strip med-rare that was cooked perfectly (red, warm center), generous size of 14oz and very tasty. The truffle fries were not truffley enough for me, heard there was some truffle oil on them, not what i expected, but still good fries. My wife had sea scallops which she said were very good; my only criticism was that there were four that were all very different sizes, some of course probably more cooked than others. Conclusion, we would definitely go again. The ambiance lost a star simply because it was in the Marriott Hotel, still a bit of a stigma from my perspective. Give it a try, especially if your staying at the hotel, we were not.
What a let down. New French restaurant, what a disappointment, expecting an experience like Ruth’s Chris or Chop House or something close, WRONG!!! Small, loud, seated so close it’s ridiculous, almost on top of each other. Food mediocre at best. Burnt bread. Chilled seafood tower what a bust, 12 mussels, four shrimp, 3 oysters, one very small lobster tail $55, REALLY! Go to Roth’s Chris freaking outstanding for less. Salmon Wellington , soggy, fishy, YUK. Wagyu hamburger $25, ordered med, came well dome, edible yes, but nothing special, plenty of local places with a better burger for under $8. The $13 french onion soup was very good. Basically BOO !!! Sorry for the bad revue, but have to call it like was.
It's just 616 with a different name. In fact, my experiences at 616 were better. The remodel and new menu represent a step backward.
Service was awkward, poorly timed, and inaccurate. At this price point, the person delivering food should not be asking who ordered what and having guests pass their entrees around.
Extensive wine list. Nobody knew anything about it.
People yelling at the bar area was unsettling. If concert goers are going to whoop it up before they head out, there needs to be a physical separation between the bar and the dining area.
Poor value. 50 dollar new York strip was only adequate in taste and texture. Better (and warmer) frites can be found at any number of downtown brew pubs.
Zero vegetarian entree options seems like a huge miss on the menu. To be fair, the chef did prepare a vegetarian pasta dish upon request.
They brought us a different bottle of wine from what we ordered. My husband didn't notice until halfway through dinner that this was not the year he picked out on the menu. He called over the waiter, who called over the sommelier and she told us that they didn't have the year that was on the menu and what we ordered. Hmmmm...wouldn't you think that someone would of told us. All she said was sorry.
Big mistake...we won't be back.
Good evening, Thank you for your review. I apologize for mix up regarding the vintage ordered, however we did offer to bring a new bottle which was declined. Please reach out to me discuss your visit further. Thank you, Elle Wadel Margaux General Manager 616.242.1449
Food was delicious. Great service. Excellent wine choice.
Abby was our server and she was outstanding! The warm seafood tower is to die for - highly recommend!

Service and food were excellent! Highly recommend!
