The doré fish in Nantua sauce was soooooo good! I loved it!!
I’ll be back and will travel across the state to do. Food was outstanding, probable one of favorite within the last couple years.
Perfection! Brunch at its finest. Had the seafood eggs Benedict and my first sorbet mimosa! Everyone at the Amway greeted us were kind considerate and more than competent!! A cleaner on the stairs was super friendly, the hotel staff, hostess, waitress etc. all treated us like they were excited we graced them with our presence!! What an incredible feeling. Amway is above and beyond in the service industry. The new decor at Margaux was breathtaking. Such an improvement visually. We will continue dining there.y highest recommendation!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Margaux. The food was excellent, while the ambiance and aesthetics of the restaurant were beautiful. I took my fiance here for an anniversary dinner and it was a wonderful pick. Although the menu is not overly comprehensive, almost everything on it looked fantastic! I ended up getting the Walleye and it was superb. The service at Margaux was excellent as well. The staff and our waitress were very courteous and were very knowledgeable. Margaux has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in Grand Rapids.
I've been here before for business related meetings. First time I took my wife to celebrate birthday. Had much better appreciation of the place. nice ambience and service was great I had the pork tenderloins, delicious and well prepared. My wife had the salmon but it was overcooked and very dry. I would still go back my wife probably not.
In spite of the name, this is not a french bistro. The escargot was decent as was the steak, but there were excessive frites and I did not notice the "black truffle" on them. My wife's caesar salad was overdressed and her walleye was tasteless (and likely frozen). The crayfish sauce was not good and the potatoes could be eaten in one bite. The baked alaska was poor and the outside was some sort of ersatz whipped cream rather than a baked meringue. We had been once before for lunch and were pleased. Margaux is clearly not what it was before and we will not return.
We enjoyed our meal at Marqaux. The service was excellent and our food was prepared as we requested. My wife really enjoyed the trout. My only complaint, and it's minor, is that the restaurant is right next r to the bar area. The music in the bar was no fitting for a nice French restaurant. I did mention this to our server and she said she would pass my concern onto management.
Our server Jaslyn was wonderful and the the French onion soup is always amazing!
Was a little nervous to eat outdoors next to the river on a breezy day but the juxtaposition of the serene outdoor seating next to the imposing tall building protected us somewhat.
The food was mostly amazing with the exception of some burned bread brought out a few times. Otherwise, we couldn't have enjoyed the food more.
It is a very loud restaurant and the ambiance is cold. The food was just ok for a higher expectation of a JW Marriott property. Not a recommendation for me.
Pricy drinks but the JDek is lovely on a warm night.
I was disappointed bc when making the reservation on the Open Table App bc it did not say that the dining room was closed til the following week and did not say we would have to sit by the check in area. My in-laws came in town from Oregon and we wanted to give them the most high end beautiful experience like I know Margaux can bc but if I would have known it was understaffed, a wedding was using the entire restaurant and we had to sit in the check in area we would have went somewhere else. Also no management said sorry for the inconvenience and I truly felt having worked in the restaurant industry something should have been compt.
Amazing place. Went for our anniversary and could not have been more pleased with the service, food and environment.
Outdoor seating on the Jdek, a terrace above the Grand River, was warm enough. We enjoyed the olives and Caesar salad, but the Roasted Seafood Tower was fantastic, all elements perfectly seasoned and cooked. Chocolate Marquise, Creme Brulee, and 2016 Pinot Noir rounded out a fantastic meal.
Staff is top notch. In the middle of crazy COVId they just made it work whether I wanted to eat there or bring back to my room. They were pleasant and attentive. I wish I could bring them home to my restaurants in New Jersey and show them how it’s done :). Food was great I was super relaxed. I’ll probably eat here my entire stay.
Very misleading. They wanted to seat us in the lobby of the hotel but did not explain this on the Open Table site. They were not ready or adjusting to the Covid restrictions like other restaurants have. This was a special dinner for my anniversary. We left and thankfully went to another very quaint place called Divani which was around the corner.
Celebrated a birthday here this weekend. Our waitress was very kind and understanding, willing to move us when we asked due to the rain. Outdoor sitting is great however there are a lot of bugs, and a lack of lighting, it was hard to even see the food. Other than that everything was great. Loved the NY-Strip Steak. Will be back sometime soon.
Enjoyed our experience at Margaux. Had the charcuterie and fromage, the walleye, tenderloin and the chocolate marquise dessert and the chèvre cheesecake. The taste was just what you would expect from a place like this, tasty and balanced, presentation was on point and I’d definitely try it again. Too bad they ran out of the crème brûlée, we’ll try it next time when we’re in town.
Wonderful staff and Food. Great Service and atmosphere
Great service and food!
I dined at Margaux in January and loved it. Last Friday didn't resemble what I knew ugh
Beautiful location with great food. The hearth grilled seafood tower was world class.
Good Afternoon! Thank you so much for your feedback. I am happy you enjoyed the seafood tower and your experience with us. We hope to see you again soon!
Great concept, poor execution. Food and cocktails were so-so. Server was friendly. Would not return or recommend to friends/family.
Really enjoyed lunch on the deck. Food was good and tables were spaced appropriately. I was a little concerned however as there was a guest walking around the deck without a mask on. Wish everyone was respectful of each other.
Got a 50 dollar steak with fries??? Come on!!
Of course, a beautiful location and excellent food. Our service was frustratingly slow. Despite a reservation, we waited for a table which was in poor condition (wobbling causing my wine to nearly spill if bumped). We had to ask the host to send us a server, were offered food that belonged to another table, were not able to order a second round of drinks, and had substantial delays in getting our bills. I was hosting two friends from out of town and the situation was pretty embarrassing.
We came to Margaux to celebrate a big life moment and we were sorely disappointed in the experience. While the server was nice, the $50 steak was mediocre at best and I also had to ask for different glass of wine since the Pinot Noir I ordered was vinegary. In addition, when we asked to sit inside, we were sat in the hotel lobby watching people check in to the hotel instead of inside a nice restaurant. I would recommend Margaux to grab cocktails and maybe an expensive app, but not for a nice meal.
The Oven baked seafood tower was really wonderful. We dined outdoors and the view is always lovely. Service was very attentive. Drinks were delicious and perfectly prepared.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed our warm seafood tower! We look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes, Elle Wadel Margaux General Manager
We picked a great day to be on the deck. Gorgeous late afternoon on the Grand River! First off, their bartenders are rock stars! My friend and I both had over an hour to drive home after dinner so alcohol was out. But we didn’t want plain water, so we asked our server if they were willing to do a “mocktail” for us. We were feeling something cold and a little fruity and sweet but not too much. We were totally cool with being surprised. They delivered two glasses of excellence! Especially when they didn’t have alcohol free options on their drink menu.
Excellent service continued when there was a miscommunication; when I made the reservation I put “absolutely no shellfish, person in party is deathly allergic.” That message was crossed between them and the kitchen. We also didn’t ask if the sauce for the walleye dish contained a shellfish, so as delicious as it looked and smelled, my friend had to send it back. When we explained why and several apologies to them, they re-made it with a cream sauce. “We have eyes on the plate as soon as it’s ready!” Everyone was very sweet and we felt bad because we didn’t ask first. Our surprise dessert was absolutely to die for!
Great good, fantastic service. Definitely be back!
It was great!
Service at lunch was fantastic, from hostess to waiter to bus-persons to bartender. Food not as expected but that’s not critical for me. Had a fantastic time.
Great, service was a little slow but she was very friendly so we didn’t mind since it was a busy weekend!
It was my husband’s birthday and I let them know. I asked for a special dessert to come out and NOTHING was even mentioned. Please don’t ask how you can make it special if you are not planning to actually follow through with the request. Disappointed for the amount of money we spent...
Service was great! Ambiance was awesome except it was very dark once the sun went down and difficult to see. The tables outside could have benefited from candles.
We waited 45 minutes to get seated with reservations. Don’t have plans after.
It was nice on the outside patio, breezy and warm. Because of Covid menu and Wine List was limited. Understandable considering the epidemic. Servers made it fun. We had salmon, Walleye and the Trout we were all happy with our meals as when we go out for fine dining it’s always for seafood. The price is more for the ambiance and dining on the river.
Perfect Date Night with my Husband. Great atmosphere, amazing drinks and food, perfect view. We WILL be back!
Good food - excellent atmosphere
Very impressed. Best experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Food was outstanding.
