Food was ok. The tables & chairs can use a make over
The food and service were good but not remarkable. We went for an early diner before the theatre. The ambience was fine but the music was too loud to talk over. We were very pleased that our server lowered the volume when we asked. It seemed a bit over priced for decent, but not extraordinary, Mexican food.
Stopped in after a play and it was very convenient to the theater district, and at 10:00 very quiet and comfortable. The nachos had a lot of toppings on them and quickly filled us up. My only suggestion is that you get the hot sauce and add that as there was not much spice in the dish. This is a very reasonably priced place to know about in the theater district.
Very accommodating for a large group! Fajitas were very tasty. So close to the theater and hotel.
Our friends and I have been to this location when it was a Mediterranean Restaurant, same owner, and liked it. So now with the Mexican theme, we also enjoyed it immensely. The food was fresh, plentiful and tasty. They even had a REALLY great hamburger and fries for my hubby who is not the Mexican food type. Definitely will be back.
Margaritas is a fine place for pre-theatre meal. Food is good, tasty. I’ve had better Mexican food but I like this place enough to return. Reasonably priced and a happy hour. Drinks are just ok.
how can you go wrong with fresh delisih Mex food and $7 margaritas. while i could recommend a lot on the menu - the Fajitas are my fav - skip the calamari it's just not up to par with the rest of the menu items
Nothing to look at from the outside. You would probably pass it right by, but surprisingly, we had a great experience and enjoyed the night. Great food and great wine. Our server was terrific and very accommodating.
Recommend it highly.
Looks like a hole in the wall and we were hesitant at first.
Glad we did go in. The half price margueritas until 8 PM are a great value especially for the City.
Service was quick and friendly, food was very good.
If you're in the area I definitely recommend.
The restaurant is intimate and quiet which we really appreciated. The food was excellent BUT the drinks were a big disappointment. Margaritas are $18 and they were very weak, not just on alcohol but flavor. I would go back for the food but next time I'm drinking straight tequila!
Despite some shortcomings (e.g., the noise level), it was an enjoyable place with good food.
Great food, great staff, convenient to theatres! Will definitely go back!
Margarita Saloon Bar and Grill was delicious and a fun atmosphere. My friend and I had dinner before a recent Broadway show. The food was timely , service was great and the Happy Hour drinks were reasonable and good.
We had a great time at Margarita’s. The staff was nice and food was great!
The service was horrible. The food was ok.
Bad Mexican food, untrimmed dark meat in Enchiladas and Quesadilla, server missed our appetizer. Bar is right near dining seating and loud. Decor is nice.
FRESH - that's what everyone in my party commented, I will add well seasoned and authentic - I've now eaten here several times and can recommend these tasty items: Guacamole, Nachos w/chicken, Sizzling Fajitas both chicken & shrimp, Pollo Enchilada, Ensalada de Maiz w/chicken and a Hamburger. Happy Hour (4-7) gets you $7 Margaritas and it's just a great place for before or after theatre meal
My date and I went there for a bite to eat before going to a play. It is conveniently located in the theater district. No wait for a table – good! Didn’t have any alcoholic beverages, but enjoyed appetizers and shrimp tacos. The guacamole is a definite winner.
Food was excellent, server not great. Ambiance was just ok for me . All in all I would come again for the food and hopefully a different server.
Over priced tourist trap.
Waitress didn’t know the menu (in fact had to ask US twice what 2 of the dishes were despite working there for some time)!
Didn’t know what a margarita serve was (it’s a margarita bar)?!
Food was average to say the least.
Excellent food, but overpriced Margaritas at $18 each!
Overpriced tourist trap. Avoid, unless you enjoy being jammed into tiny tables with people seated practically on top of you, and paying $18.00 for awful margaritas that wouldn’t give a buzz to a fly. They also charge $6.00 for chips and salsa. Huh????? Awful service too.
The food was excellent and was served very quickly.
Overpriced and bland food!
Too expensive for a regular place
Surprisingly great food; when you come in off of Eighth Avenue you might think otherwise. Soft shell tacos are delicious, specialty margaritas add a special option.
Food was very good and the setting is certainly bright and cheery. It was lunch and not more than a third of the tables were occupied plus some activity at the bar. The problem was in the staffing. It seems as though our server also handled the other tables and tended the bar as well. Not good planning as, once the order was taken she was occupied elsewhere. One other person brought out the food from the kitchen. Not sure I would return.
Unfortunately not a great experience. Beef and sauce of enchiladas were metallic in flavor. I mentioned it to waitress who apologized but offered no alternative. No replacement of food. No discount of any kind. While friendly, she completely mishandled the situation. And visited our table infrequently. Maybe she was in the weeds. Not sure. And everything overpriced considering the quality of food, but understandable based on location.
The drinks are great but there are no pitcher options so we ended up ordering a bottle of wine.
Great happy hour specials - not a bad midtown after work gathering place.
Service very average, as well as food. Not great.
I was disappointed because their online menu through OpenTable indicated that they served Mediterranean food. However, they serve Mexican food now. Big difference. I told them to take down their old menu.
The menu was completely different than what was posted. Instead of Mediterranean Food it was uninspired, ordinary Mexican. That would have been ok if the food was good but it was awful.
the restaurant is closed/not there. What else can I say?
THIS RESTAURANT NO LONGER EXISTS!!!!! We had no reservation for dinner last night. Very upsetting
This restaurant is CLOSED. It did not even exist at the location. You need to get your information up to date! Caused us to not have enough time to have a meal before our show!!!
This is no longer a Mediterranean restaurant
It is a mediocre Mexican restaurant named Margarita
L’ybane closed yesterday and opened under a different name today. Maybe they should have told us?
Changing from Mediterranian to Mexican.
The food was mediocre but the service was horrible. My meal arrived with the appetizers. The other main courses took forever to come out ( a good half hour after mine) and my husband's soup was served with his main course. He was told that they had to heat it up which sounded very strange. We asked for more water more than once and that was never served. The main courses only came out after my husband spoke to the manager who didn't even offer as much as an apology. The waitress was surly and unfriendly and also unapologetic. Will never return.
