Margarita Saloon Bar and Grill
FRESH - that's what everyone in my party commented, I will add well seasoned and authentic - I've now eaten here several times and can recommend these tasty items: Guacamole, Nachos w/chicken, Sizzling Fajitas both chicken & shrimp, Pollo Enchilada, Ensalada de Maiz w/chicken and a Hamburger. Happy Hour (4-7) gets you $7 Margaritas and it's just a great place for before or after theatre meal
My date and I went there for a bite to eat before going to a play. It is conveniently located in the theater district. No wait for a table – good! Didn’t have any alcoholic beverages, but enjoyed appetizers and shrimp tacos. The guacamole is a definite winner.
Food was excellent, server not great. Ambiance was just ok for me . All in all I would come again for the food and hopefully a different server.
Over priced tourist trap.
Waitress didn’t know the menu (in fact had to ask US twice what 2 of the dishes were despite working there for some time)!
Didn’t know what a margarita serve was (it’s a margarita bar)?!
Food was average to say the least.
Excellent food, but overpriced Margaritas at $18 each!
Overpriced tourist trap. Avoid, unless you enjoy being jammed into tiny tables with people seated practically on top of you, and paying $18.00 for awful margaritas that wouldn’t give a buzz to a fly. They also charge $6.00 for chips and salsa. Huh????? Awful service too.
The food was excellent and was served very quickly.
Overpriced and bland food!
Too expensive for a regular place
Surprisingly great food; when you come in off of Eighth Avenue you might think otherwise. Soft shell tacos are delicious, specialty margaritas add a special option.
Food was very good and the setting is certainly bright and cheery. It was lunch and not more than a third of the tables were occupied plus some activity at the bar. The problem was in the staffing. It seems as though our server also handled the other tables and tended the bar as well. Not good planning as, once the order was taken she was occupied elsewhere. One other person brought out the food from the kitchen. Not sure I would return.
Unfortunately not a great experience. Beef and sauce of enchiladas were metallic in flavor. I mentioned it to waitress who apologized but offered no alternative. No replacement of food. No discount of any kind. While friendly, she completely mishandled the situation. And visited our table infrequently. Maybe she was in the weeds. Not sure. And everything overpriced considering the quality of food, but understandable based on location.
The drinks are great but there are no pitcher options so we ended up ordering a bottle of wine.
Great happy hour specials - not a bad midtown after work gathering place.
Service very average, as well as food. Not great.
I was disappointed because their online menu through OpenTable indicated that they served Mediterranean food. However, they serve Mexican food now. Big difference. I told them to take down their old menu.
The menu was completely different than what was posted. Instead of Mediterranean Food it was uninspired, ordinary Mexican. That would have been ok if the food was good but it was awful.
the restaurant is closed/not there. What else can I say?
THIS RESTAURANT NO LONGER EXISTS!!!!! We had no reservation for dinner last night. Very upsetting
This restaurant is CLOSED. It did not even exist at the location. You need to get your information up to date! Caused us to not have enough time to have a meal before our show!!!
This is no longer a Mediterranean restaurant
It is a mediocre Mexican restaurant named Margarita
L’ybane closed yesterday and opened under a different name today. Maybe they should have told us?
Changing from Mediterranian to Mexican.
The food was mediocre but the service was horrible. My meal arrived with the appetizers. The other main courses took forever to come out ( a good half hour after mine) and my husband's soup was served with his main course. He was told that they had to heat it up which sounded very strange. We asked for more water more than once and that was never served. The main courses only came out after my husband spoke to the manager who didn't even offer as much as an apology. The waitress was surly and unfriendly and also unapologetic. Will never return.
Waitress outstanding. Made great suggestions. Food excellent
This was a great spot for a pre theatre dinner. We had cocktails and a lovely dinner. The menu is somewhat middle eastern and we enjoyed chicken and shrimp skewers as well as hummus and baba ghanouj. The flavors were very good. Our waiter was very sweet and accommodating.
Enjoyed the meal.
We had a wonderful plate of beans with tomatoes 🍅
I had the salmon burger, so big half went home
My husband had the talapia
Very convenient as it is near most of the theaters
Excellent as always
We had difficulty getting a taxi to get to the restaurant, and they were very accommodating about holding onto our reservation when I called to let them know of the problem. When we finally arrive, we were seated quickly and had very quick service (complete with suggestions for items that wouldn't take much preparation time). We ordered only appetizers because we had theater tickets that imposed a deadline. . . the "lamb lollypop" (a single small chop) was well prepared and worth the price. Soups were also good.
Terrific find! Love the venue, food imaginative and yummy! Wine selection excellent, and the server super helpful and friendly. Very attentive. We’ll be back many times
Good for a pre-theater meal. Portions are good and taste was great.
Good food at reasonable prices.
I have eaten at L'ybane many times now. It consistently surprises with its great service and food. On this occasion, 4/24, I was there earlier for an impromptu dinner with a musician-friend. Later, after "Evan Hansen" I came back for "dessert"... the 9:45P reservation... with another friend with whom I'd seen the show. Both visits (before and after the show) were wonderful in their own way. :-)
Fun, busy atmosphere of combo locals and visitors. I’d say stick to the Mediterranean fare. My daughter’s Mediterranean mixed platter and grape leaves were a lot better than my Penne Vodka, but I should have know better. The outside is deceivingly beat up. Inside you walk past the bar to get to the eating area. Can’t say I’d rush back.
First time there. Good food, nice ambience, good service and very convenient to theaters
As good as always. A little on the high end but delicious. Ambiance is enjoyable to dine in.
Booked a table here as it was close to the theatre. Food was nice but felt the waitress was always wanting us to move on or order something. Worst cup of coffee ever! Not relaxed. An hour after we’d arrived the waitress gave me the cheque and said the next reservation had arrived even though there was a free table beside us and I hadn’t finished. I’d never recommend a restaurant which only gives you an hour for dinner. Very disappointing.
Good value for the area. Mediocre Middle Eastern food. Not bad, but needed more flavor. At the end of the meal I requested mint tea. Without a word of explanation they brought me green tea. When I called this to the waiter’s attention they said they were out of mint, and offered me a decaf cappuccino instead. Not what I wanted. The good news is they did not charge me for the tea I didn’t drink. Service was fine.
Excellent Middle Eastern food! We went before an matinee and had excellent print service.
Found this on Open Table but had questions at entry. Food was fine, and server was attentive, but we waited longer than I expected for cold usually prepared apps like hummus and tabouleh. Decor an incredible mélange.
