Margaret Kuo's Kitchen At The Promenade
Dinner with 2 friends; we all enjoyed our meals. We ordered the "Shanghai steamed pork soup buns' as an appetizer to share; interesting and very good. For our main courses, we had the chilean sea bass, one with the plum sauce and the other with ginger sauce. I had the Jumbo Shrimp Shanghai; it was served with broccoli and a slightly sweet sauce; delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and patient as we took almost 45 minutes to order; too much chatting!
We shared the boneless ribs as a starter. The ribs were flavorful, tender and plentiful! I had the mandarin steak with spring pancakes and it also was tender and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the General Tso's chicken. He said it was better than PF Chang's.
Going away dinner was fabulous for our immediate family of four!
Excellent service. Delicious food and reasonable prices. We sat a long time and the waiter was very gracious. I’ll definitely go back.
Second time there in about 2 weeks. The food is very good but not hot enough. rice is cold. Felt rushed, waiter was constantly at the table.
The menu provides a variety of Chinese foods not typically seen elsewhere. The atmosphere was very modern and sophisticated.
Food was very good. Got the apps after our sushi which was our main course but was all very good
Food was good as always but could have been hotter. the waiter never came back to the table to check on us. Just returned with the bill.
Everything was great and the food was delicious!
I have been eating at Margaret Kuo's restaurants in the greater Philadelphia region for many years. You pay a premium to go as the food and service and ambience is better than the average chinese restaurant and a far cry from take out. However, we went there for a Mother's day dinner and the service was slow and poor. The drinks were expensive and mediocre. The food was good but not great. I expect more for the price tag we paid. Above all, they ran out of white rice. I have never heard of a chinese restaurant running out of white rice. I will not likely return but the sushi was good enough for take out.
Birthday dinner. Food was excellent and we sat for a very long time after we finished eating an no one bothered us. A wonderful experience.
We were seated immediately, waiter was very nice & knowledgeable. Food was amazing. Would definitely recommend.
My youngest daughter loves Chinese food. We decided to try this restaurant. It was fantastic. The waitstaff was outstanding. My other daughter ( 10 years old) wanted the sushi dinner. It was very fresh and very tasty. Half way through, .the youngest one stated that here it is where she wants to have her 8 year-old birthday dinner on Friday 4/30/21. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and my wife had the honey nut shrimp, both were awesome. This place diffidently deserves a second visit.
We watched an episode of a cooking show featuring Peking Duck and needed to try it for ourselves. This did not disappoint, food was outstanding and a lovely experience. Will definitely be back.
Very good food and the staff are very friendly
This was for my 40th birthday. Good atmosphere, good food, nice service, overall a very pleasant experience.
Sullivan’s in Wilmington, DE, an excellent place to go!!
Well rounded menu of Chinese and Japanese entrees. Food was piping hot, tasteful, fresh and well prepared.
Service was good and all around service very nice. Very pleased with our dinner experience
Everything was so delicious and the service was excellent!
Service slow as can be and food is just OK.
Hands down this is the best Chinese restaurant in Delco. Margaret Kuo has been known for Peking Duck for many years, so that's what we ordered. There is a presentation of the whole duck as a gong is sounded. It is then taken back into the kitchen for slicing and preparation.
If someone in your group requires gluten free options, they are available. One person at our table thoroughly enjoyed chicken with cashews.
The cocktail selection is interesting. I enjoyed my pear saketini made with vodka and pear sake. The wine and beer menu also offers a nice selection.
Parking is plentiful, as this new building is on this site of the former Granite Run Mall (upper level next to Boscov's). We will be back often to dine in or for take out.
Waitress appeared as if it was her first day...... we asked for a sushi menu option only to be told that it would take too long ..... family who sat after us was served a large sushi platter which appeared to be delicious
Heat was on to the degree that the entire room was red faced (not just our table)
really good food. small place but great and excellent atmosphere. definitely would consider going back again.
The service and atmosphere were wonderful, and I loved the appetizers and the spicy peanuts. My entree however was very disappointing. I’m sure it was cooked appropriately, but the flavor was a bit odd for being “Szechuan” almost bitter tasting? I would go back again though and try something else. :)
So disappointing. I have been going to MK at Granite run, Media and Wayne for 30 years and this was by far the most disappointing experience. First the setting is lovely with Mme. Kuo's custom attention to detail in a configuration reminiscent of the old location (not next to JCP) in GRM with elegant fixtures and good Feng Shui.
This meal experience however was unfortunate. The service was deathly slow, not paced for a zen experience, inattentive and slow. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken "hot" and my date ordered Sichuan meat balls. The Kung Pao was not spicy at all, and was mostly chopped onions, very disappointing. The meat balls were clearly frozen and not fully cooked, we sent them back. The service was so inattentive I needed to go get the manager to point out the still frozen meatballs,
Although he sent a dessert over - we didn't want one and he never came over to explain or apologize . . .
This place is Sooo much better than this and I was so disappointed.
3rd time here and still not good. Disappointing considering they are Marg Quo property.
4 different dishes and sushi platter. No flavor lackluster.
Certainly not worth the prices they charge there.
Service left alot to be desired.
I really enjoyed my dinner. The Japanese Cucumbers were amazing. The staff was very helpful and made the experience fun. They were very knowledgeable of the menu and helpful in food suggestions. It is a beautifully designed establishment and I will definitely return. Very clean and the ambiance was exactly what I needed to wind down my night.
cool place, excellent food and service, fresh. Excellent sushi bar!
Great service and food
Always a great experience.
Love the new location, food is always amazing
The soup dumplings did not have soup in them so that was very disappointing.
They offered a free dessert which as great but 2 options were not available.
The service was good and much improved over our previous 2 visits.
Such a disappointment. Until now, every visit to a Margaret Kuo's location has been an excellent experience but every part of our visit to Margart Kuo's Kitchen was just so underwhelming. The lackluster welcome - the 10 minute wait from being seated to getting water and meeting our server - the TWENTY MINUTE wait between delivery of my and my husband's appetizers (scallion pancake and some dumplings) - the wait from clearing the table to presentation of the check - just bad. The front of the house needs training and probably more staff.
The food was OK though the menu is not as varied or as well executed as when Peking was in the Granite Run Mall.
We'll hope for the best and give it another try in a few months to see if they can get things up to par with the rest of their locations but this was just sad.
Very pleasant and will definitely go back soon!
went out to celebrate Valentine's Day and ordered the special Chinese New Year dinner at $55.00 per person. it took well over 2 hours before we finally got to our last entree. we were left sitting without any food or water on our table for over 15 minutes. at this point we gave up and got up to leave. we were told that our dessert was being prepared. we informed the waiter that we had a prior engagement that we had to leave for and we could not stay for the dessert. Margaret Kuo's seems to be living on past laurels. If you want an excellent gourmet chinese meal try New Leaf in Broomall, PA. You won't regret it.
Had the 7 course Chinese New Year's dinner... outstanding! Too much food for 2, it would be better to go with more people, however each dish was beautiful presented and delectable! We will definitely be back. So glad Margaret Kuo's is back at Granite Run!
While the food was good, the service was very very slow. Seems they are short staffed and/or haven’t worked out kinks on food prep/delivery. Our entrees didn’t come out at the same time and one was incorrect and had to be remade. Hope they get it sorted
I still believe this restaurant is in its “soft-opening” phase.
A bit disorganized still and meals come out at different times.
My view is it will all get better with time.
For now a solid 3-star with expectations that it will move to 4 in due time.
