   We’ve been here several times, and usually have a great experience; however, this time wasn’t as good as others. We made a reservation for outside at 6pm. We arrived 10 mins early and were told we had to leave by 7:45pm due to another reservation. We were also reminded a few times throughout the meal. At each of our checkpoints with our server, we made sure we were prepared to order. Still, we ran out of time and were not offered dessert. It was also interesting that we left promptly at 7:45pm and no one was waiting in the foyer. I’d also like to call out that the restaurant should probably have a dedicated photo space. We constantly needed to move our chairs or even get up from our seats to accommodate large group photos.

   Ordered moscato, not sure what we got instead. Waitress seemed thrown by having to take the wrong drink back. Two people ordered the pesto pasta with grilled chicken, she brought two pasta no chicken. She didn’t take the pasta back and returned to say she had not ordered the chicken initially and it would be out. It came out, after the pasta was ice cold. She was awful. Two people ordered cappuccino another asked for decaf tea, waitress rattled off all teas that have caffeine- it was the busboy who overheard and came by to say she could have a decaf cappuccino. We asked for the ice cream to be set in a dish away from the molten cake- nope came smack dab next to it. Either your bar and kitchen are disasters OR just our waitress. She was horrible.

   I’m am so disappointed in the quality of the food. I feel like everything was frozen. The calamari was very tough it was served with a glob on Mayo. My chicken Caesar entrée had frozen chicken on it which had brown hard pieces within the chicken.  The mashed potatoes tasted as if the potatoes were boiled, mashed and served there were no seasonings on them. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The server was not much better than the food. The best part of this restaurant was the door man who opened the elevator doors.

   Excellent meal! We had octopus which was cooked perfectly delicious light salad and unusually prepared- cod in prosciutto that was fantastic! I don’t love the atmosphere indoors as it’s quite open and impersonal design in my opinion - but it was too cold for outside. I wish the heat lamps were operational !

   This was our first visit to Mare Rooftop. We mentioned that we were celebrating an anniversary in our Open Table reservation and we were surprised with two glasses of Prosecco. Our server, Melissa was very welcoming and attentive. Even though she was taking care of several tables, she anticipated our needs and her service was flawless. The food and drinks were delicious. Mare Rooftop is a bit of a splurge but we will definitely be back. Next time we hope to be able to try the lovely outdoor seating.

   Unfortunately, this time my party and I did not have a great time. My friend came for the first time in America, we decided to take her to our favorite spot and rooftop in Providence. She was very excited. We were seated at a table outside, and a couple of minutes later they moved us, they have some construction going on. They were nice and said we could move from a high table to the previous table, but we decided to go inside because it was windy. They were fine with that. Inside we were seated next to the door. Our server was Olivia. Very sweet and polite person but she was all over the place. At the beginning of our dining experience, I gave her a credit card and said don’t bring the check to the table. When we sat down we ordered the bottle of sparkling wine, Santa Margherita, always a great choice! For dinner time we decided to start with a Hummus plate and a charcuterie board. The hummus was delicious! Unfortunately charcuterie board (which on the menu clearly says it comes with meat and cheese), we got without cheese. We were confused because I’m not eating meat and I was expecting some kind of cheese. We told our server, and she looked at us and the board and she apologized. She went to the kitchen and told Chef. They brought us cheese. 3 small pieces of Grana Padano (literally parmigiano reggiano, super hard and ready to shave on some pasta) and blueberry blue cheddar. Very disappointed. It looked like they send us some random stuff just to bring it to the table. We looked at those cheeses and we laughed. We decided not to have entrees just to order pizza to share. Burrata pizza with prosciutto on the side. Very delicious! The most disappointing part was the end of dinner, when my friend asked for a check and she just got to the table, thank us for coming and leave it on the table, while I gave my card at the beginning and clearly said to don’t present the check. Overall, not the same experience as before. Maybe something was going on, but still..🤷‍♂️

    Still our favorite restaurant. A beautiful Sunday night eating outdoors and celebrating Mother's Day. We enjoyed delicious food, ice cold martini's and served by our favorite waitress, Julia. I'm sorry we can't give this establishment 6 stars!

    Took my mom here for Mother’s Day lunch. It was a wonderful experience. The Octopus was cooked perfectly and some of the best I have had at a restaurant. The cod wrapped in prosciutto was outstanding as well. I thought it was a very nice touch to give the moms plants at the end of the meal. We enjoyed ourselves and will recommend dining here to our friends and family!

    Made reservations, arrived to a packed foyer area. Waited half an hour to be seated, checked with the hostess, who was very sweet, and she asked if we would be ok sitting indoors. The reservation was made for indoor seating, but regardless, we said yes. Waited another ten minutes, then asked to sit at the bar, to which the hostess said graciously and emphatically, YES! We sit at the bar and are ignored, no eye contact, no menus or water, not even a "we'll be right with you." It was busy, so we understood to a point, but there was zero acknowledgement by anyone. Went to find someone to talk to, spoke with a waitress who said she'd help, sat down, received menus. Another ten minutes, and still nothing. We ended up walking out and told the waitress who said she wanted to comp our drinks, which would've been really great if we had received some! We didn't order anything. It was awful, waiting for more than an hour. PLEASE, if it's busy, we get it!! But at least acknowledge our existence so we know we're on your radar, maybe at least give us some water? We were really bummed out because the location is cute and the menu looked delicious. Not sure if we'll give it another try though.

    Went here for a college graduation for my son, and was not the experience I was expecting. Granted the atmosphere is stellar but service was slow, food was skimpy and on several dishes we ordered were missing ingredients that were listed as a description. For instance the Italian panini stated it had banana peppers, there were not it was just 1 piece of Italian cold it with some garnish. The other panini ordered said it had fresh basil; that was omitted. It was a very hot day and it was a struggle to get sparkling water bottles to our table.as they first said they had different sizes and we wanted large but they brought over smalls bottles cause there was only a case left but then the hostess brought us a large one. It was a frustrating experience especially for a special event. I don’t usual review but had to on this one. There was no communication on items not available on the menu. We did try to be reasonable and blame it on a busy weekend of nice weather and us being there on Sunday thinking they were just out of stuff. But still not a $200 bill for skimpy paninins a salad a small pizza and sparkling water and slow service

    Service was very slow! No olives available for martinis?? Had a reservation but, had to wait at the elevator with a crowd to be seated. Food was mediocre. Always had great food and service in the past. I brought friends that have never been here and they were not impressed! Kind of embarrassing because we said it was great in the past. I know the restaurant industry is struggling but, probably won’t go back.

    We went there to celebrate our anniversary and they started us off with a complimentary Prosecco toast which was lovely. Our server, Olivia was fabulous the whole night. The service was definitely a highlight. We started off with oysters, calamari and the octopus. The octopus was a little over cooked but the taste was good. Calamari was decent but would’ve liked something more innovative. We had the short rib for dinner which was outstanding! Dessert and the cocktails were good also. Overall a lovely night but expected a little more from the appetizers. If you go, ask to sit in Olivia’s s section.

    Fabulous dinner with amazing view of Providence. The octopus was so perfectly cooked. Best ever. Not one piece was over cooked, which is so common. The salmon special was amazing with a crispy crust and also perfectly cooked. Short ribs were tender and fell apart. The potatoes and veggies with the sauce…yum! Highly recommend for a great dinner in a perfect space.

    There was a bridal shower earlier in the day that pushed all reservations back, that should’ve been better managed. There were still high top cocktail tables set up with their party favors and centerpieces in the middle of prime dinner service. The attendees were highly intoxicated and stumbling to the elevator. It was overall was not a great environment (they were all hanging out at the bar- way too loud!!!) and a let down for my birthday celebration!

    A tough restaurant to rate. It has an outstanding location and view. The overall feel and the design of the space is well done. The food is ok, the service is slow, but somehow it still was a good experience. Could be a fantastic restaurant with a bit more oversight and attention to detail.

    Slow service (even to get water) despite restaurant being only half full. Food was very disappointing. My salad was not as described at all. Just a few shrimp and pieces of grapefruit on chopped lettuce. This is the second time I’ve had a bad experience at Mare. The rooftop is nice, but not nice enough to make up for bad food and slow service.

    The ambiance was nice, more of a high class restaurant. Food was delicious. My husband got the braised rib and I got the steak frites. Both were so tasty. We started with the hummus appetizer, the hummus was a bit bland. It was a wonderful date night. I highly recommend.

    I don’t like to give bad reviews but this visit was disappointing to say the least. Peter our server was great but we had to to wait 20 minutes after our reservation time with only a “thank you for your patience” from the hostess. The menu was severely lacking. Our table was inappropriately positioned close to the bar and in the way of all staff and guest traffic. One large group stood next to our table for 15-20 minutes flashing lights in our eyes and bumping into our table taking photographs by a wine wall and the staff did not care. My date was very disturbed to see a bloody UFC/MMA fight on the tv screen behind my head. I don’t understand how anyone thinks that is an appropriate thing to having playing in a restaurant. The other tv had a sitcom plying. It’s March put on a basketball game.

    Mare has one of the greatest ambiences in all of Providence: great interior and exterior, glass roof for daytime brunch, well spaced tables and layout. The service and servers are wonderful, and the food is great. I wish there were a 4.5 star option, because the entree this time was a little overcooked (cod). However, appetizers and dessert were top notch, as were cocktails. 100% recommend.
