The food and service were exquisite. We shared the crudo trio, the wild boar papardelle, and the grilled branzino. All were perfectly prepared. We have a new favorite restaurant in the North End.
The food was amazing. Service was good but I think they were overwhelmed being busy again after so long working at half capacity during pandemic. We know they were doing their best even if things were missed or forgotten. The food made up for it all. We love Mare and will be back soon.
Odd. Our reservation was for 7:45, which is when we arrived. Our hostess told us they just needed to clean the table. 20 mins later I ask again, and she said they just needed to clean the table. So then 3 seats opened at the bar and my family and I tried to sit there. But the manager came over to tell us we couldn’t because he promised that spot to a different person - one person.
A few minutes later they offer us a table, in total nearly 30 minutes after after our reservation. So we were not off to a good start.
But our waiter was very personable and attentive. He recommended oysters for us and when my daughter dropped her mask on the floor he offered her a new one. He was really good.
The food was average. Not worth the cost.
We came on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and loved our experience. Grace was a wonderful server, she was available at all the right moments and things were timed pretty perfectly. The view, the food, the wine, cant wait to go back!
Great night out! The food was so good. Recommend the surf and turf appetizer and oysters.
Delicious raw bar, the crab and the lobster cocktail are a must!
They went above and beyond to accommodate us with a child despite the lack of seating because of mother's Day.
Great food, ambiance, and service. Great outdoor seating area!
Great time for a birthday celebration!
The food is incredible, especially the seafood. The Crudo is my all time favorite. The waitstaff are very amicable and the ambiance is great for a date night or intimate dinner with friends. It's also off the beaten path so it's not a big tourist trap like some of the other restaurants in the North End.
Has originally asked for a fire pit seats since we only came in for a few oysters and some cocktails. Unfortunately they were taken and we were seated a table. A few moments after our first round of drinks came by the host came and asked us if we’d like to move. It was very thoughtful and appreciated.
Usually our favorite restaurant when we come to Boston. We were seated in the way way back outside on a damp and chilly night. Our server told us there were no other tables available. We had a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes before we were seated. There were heaters on the other side of the patio but none by our side. We spoke with the manager and he let us move near the fire pit for our dessert (which he comped). All in all that was handled well but service was lacking and the food was mediocre. We hold the bar high for Mare and we’re disappointed that the bar was not met.
Crystal our waitress was lovely. The food is always delicious and again did not disappoint. They took some items off the menu and we missed our seafood pizza. Paul the manager corrected a hiccup. Overall it was excellent!
Fresh and tasty seafood. Exceptional service and nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
We love the restaurant.. it’s one if not our favorite when visiting Boston. The food is superb, service excellent and the environment very friendly.
Went for anniversary dinner with the hubz.
Place is very nice, tables spaced well. Loved the patio area.
Wine list had great selection at all price points.
We shared the octopus appetizer (with eggplant burrata) which was AMAZING! Hubz had the linguini with clams and I had tagliatelle with lobster. Both were good but the appetizer blew them away.
Why not 5 stars? Service was meh. Not sure if they were short a person, or had some training issues or if being back with full tables was stressing but... The waitress was not very talkative and seemed stressed, the busboy was lost/not paying attention. We waited 20 minutes after our plates were cleared before snagging the manager (which I hate to do) to get our check. Would have stayed for coffee but the service was getting slower and slower.
I'd go back for that octopus though.
Enjoyed the seafood tower! Best I have ever had!
Amazing service and even more amazing food! Would highly recommend anyone come here for a special occasion
Everything was good for the most part. I made a reservation for my anniversary and did not receive any accommodations. Not even a happy anniversary. Maybe they forgot or something but probably won’t be back here again. Pretty meh and upscale. Service was very nice but felt rushed.
Lovey date & delicious drinks
One of my favorites and lived up to its reputation. Hasn't missed a beat through COVID and it was packed on a wet night - testimony to the loyal customer base it has.
Great selection of seafood. Great cocktails
We had a very interesting evening. I was there with my great niece (17 yoa) and were offered a table by the door. I asked to sit elsewhere but was told there was only one other option which we declined. As we were ordering 4 men in the 30-40s came in and were seated next to us. They were loud and crude with every other word being a profanity. I looked around to find some waitstaff to see if we could be relocated. I couldn’t find any. I knew it was only going to get worse as they ordered shots and continued with their profanity. A few minutes later the manager/owner came up and asked if we wanted to be reseated. I said yes. He then went to the table and asked the men to stop with the profanity. We were reseated and the men ordered food. A few minutes later a table of other men were speaking with the manager/owner at which point the manager owner and one of the men went over to the table of 4. Shortly thereafter the 4 men left. So the restaurant handled it well.
Now our meal was delicious. I had tagliatelle with lobster and truffles and cherry tomatoes. It was so very good. Then even though I am nit a big dessert person I ordered the tiramisu. They made it up in front of me. Nice touch and also very good. Thus I give them high marks for the way they handled us and the obnoxious guys along with delicious pasta.
Wonderful birthday dinner. Seafood is so fresh and prepared perfectly. Raw oyster bar had a good variety and they were delicious. My favorite restaurant in the North End!
We love the location and the vibe is usually pretty good. The service is always exceptional. Having been here several times with multiple friends, for the first time two of our party of four were unimpressed with their meals, both seafood dishes.
Repeat diner, terrible experience this time. Waited 20 minutes for water to get to the table. Ended up leaving after appetizers and going elsewhere.
Our waiter, Rosario, was so great and accommodating. The food and ambience were perfect, but Rosario took it to the next level. Awesome service. We will return and hope he is our waiter!
The best seafood, one of the top 10 meals ive had in Boston
Great time for a small group dinner with coworkers!
Great food, great atmosphere, great service!
Mare was a great experience. The food was so good, although, it is not necessarily traditional Italian food. For appetizers, we had oysters and the grilled octopus which was amazing! I had the Branzino which fileted in the kitchen and delicious! My husband had the Frutti de Mare, which was good, yet messy to eat. Aside from the fact that our waittress did not warn us about cracking the lobster shells and peelingthe shrimp ourselves in the Frutti de Mare, she was outstanding! She recommended a great wine and did tell us that the Frutti de Mare is large. We will definitely dine again here and would like to try their dessert next time. Overall, a great North End dinner.
The ambiance was nice but food lacked flavor
Great night out! Beautiful atmosphere and yummy food! Loved it! Cant wait to go back!
Lovely food (very pricey) but worth it for a nice meal out. All the staff were incredibly friendly, professional, attentive, and kind. Service was great. Really great drinks, too.
Excellent server, Grace made our special night out even more special!! Her recommendation of the tiramisu ...YUM!!
We will return
Great dinner! Would recommend. Great bar and spacing of tables was good.
Everyone loved their apps of oysters and lobster bisque. The entrees were excellent and the staff was friendly and attentive. We sat on the deck with plastic walls pulled down. It did get a little chilly, but I didn’t notice it being loud like other reviews have mentioned. Will return.
The food was very good everything was excellent our waiter Lucas was exceptional definitely recommend this place and definitely will be back
As usual, a great dining experience. The food and service was over the top. Private dining suite and Chefs Dessert sampler was a great touch. Linguine and clam macchiato, the best I’ve ever had. We’ll be looking forward to going back soon.
