MARDI Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The chef is very inflexible. The vegan/vegetarian options are not good. I am no chef but can make a better salad at home using the same supermarket bag of mixed greens and don’t have to pay for it 3 times more for the action of adding dressing to it.
For the high prices, Mardi puts on a facade. My Reservation was for 12:15 and we were sat at 1:10. Not a good way to kick off a fun brunch. Took about 20 mins to get our mimosas and they forgot a drink. My party was 4 people... get it together, yo! Incorrectly served us avocado toast instead of our ordered ricotta toast. Charged us for 3 extra mimosas. The entire staff's eyes are just glazed over. I'm shocked I had to pay for torture. This place will test your patience even if you're not easily frustrated.
This place continues to struggle even after its reboot. Service was very slow even though they weren't busy. Some mains did not include a side dish and the service did not point it out for our consideration when we ordering. Their outdoor seating options leaves something to be desired (our table was HUGE for 4 people). The food was tasty and satisfying with the exception of the issues mentioned above.
The last time that I dined at Pallihouse Weho, it was a French cuisine. Mardi is a wonderful best kept secret. I love that it is not the one month wait list type of restaurant. Mardi offers so much more than those annoying wanna-be competitors. The atsmosphere is romantic. You can close your eyes and re-open to find yourself dining in an court-yard eatery somewhere in a Europe. The furniture
and ambience is fitting to a English-French theme. The wait and back wait staff is on point, from the refilling of water to the changing of plates and silverware between dishes. Now, The food.... One word..AMAZING! Everything that my guess and I ordered was delicious. Presentation got an "A" The flavor"A" also portion size "A". Between the two of us, there was enough food to share on each dish. So many good points left no room for bad points. I will definitely return.
We went on a Friday about 12pm and there were about 7 people at the time. Service was SLOWWWWW. We did not receive our sodas for about 15 minutes. The portions were incredibly small and the bill came to $50 for two platters and one soda. I say one soda because the waitress split one can of Diet Coke for the two of a us with a "promise" to bring back the second can, which never arrived. The waitress came by a total of one time in the 45 minutes were there. We were on a vacation in LA for 10 days and ate out over twenty times and this was the only meal that was bad.
Oh, and let me add that when we arrived the front door was locked and the valet person had to open the door for us. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Cute little brunch time hide-away, ambience is old world and calming. You quickly forget about the bustle of the street. Quality food and good coffee. We sat for a long time chatting after dinning and were never disturbed with constant requests for more food and drink.
Highly recommended for a chilled out weekend brunch.
Overall the food is pretty interesting and good. The space is odd. It has a lot of potential but seems to have been decorated by an amateur. The decor is a hodgepodge of thrift store finds that just don't come together. Nor does the decor make the hipster, eclectic vibe it is going for. The service is ok. Everyone is friendly, but everything is slow and not very polished. All of these things would be fine-- they aren't bad in and of themselves.
What earns this an overall 3 from me is how ridiculously overpriced the place is. If Mardi is going to charge like a 5 star, fine dining restaurant charges, they have to get a designer in there and improve the service. The staff are super friendly mind you. But I would recommend that this place cut its prices in half and make up for it with all the new business they will get... and all the booze they will sell.
The place is huge and in a great location. It could be something really special.
Wow what a huge let down! food fair to bad and overpriced, restaurant empty and I mean no but our table, staff nice but slow, even the bar staff, no idea how this place stays in business other than my bill should keep them going for the next week, yep expensive and not worth the price tag at all.
The food was amazing. We had the mushroom and the fish main courses, both quite tasty, as were our martinis. The waitress was wonderful, accommodating and friendly. The ambience is okay: outdoor, with accommodating heaters, but no indoor dining, except for the bar.
Met up with a group of girlfriends here recently. We were initially drawn to this place by photos of the patio! This place has such a cozy, clean atmosphere, and we loved sitting outside amongst the greenery. The food options were okay, everyone was able to find something suitable, but nothing on the menu really wowed us, and it's fairly pricey for brunch. I would go back though, as overall the experience was really pleasant.
MARDI is one of the best kept secrets in West Hollywood. The food is superb (try the spatchcock chicken!), the service prompt and polite, and the ambience delightful. I don't want to rave too much, or it will be "discovered" and the lovely, quiet ambience may be disturbed. But it will always be my favorite for a quiet, sumptuous reasonably-priced dinner.
The food tasted great although we waited for over 40 minutes for it to arrive, one salad was missing its meat and we were overcharged on our bill. Beautiful environment and as I said, food was great but the service missteps meant we were unlikely to ever return.
