Marco's Coal Fired - Inverness
The food here never disappoints. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the dessert was not as expected. It looked like the Nutella was just slopped all over (too much of it IMO).
Would recommend more umbrellas or an extendable shade. People on the patio were wishing for a more shaded area at lunch. Only some seats were shaded.
Very tasty and unusual combinations for the pizzas, plus wonderful salads.
We had a 5:30 reservation- hoping to beat the dinner rush since we had the kids with us. We didn't leave until 7 and all we ordered was two beers, a cheese plate and a pizza. Service was slow and the food even slower. We have eaten at the Ballpark location dozens of times and always been able to be in/out in an hour- even during prime dining times. Not sure if this was an off night or if this is the normal pace for this location. The server did acknowledge that this was unusual, but she seemed to have vanished after taking our order, which only added to the "what is going on??" frustration we experienced.
Kids Birthday. Service was great and food amazing
My niece was visiting from Chicagoland. We Decided a Friday night pizza sounded like the perfect end to her visit. I had visited Marco’s once before and had enjoyed it. Pizza and Caesar salad were good although not outstanding. Not much tomato sauce so more of a white pizza, even with lots of meat.
Good place if your expectations are not too high.
Marco's is my favorite pizza place in Denver metro, bar none. Crust is tasty, thin (but not crisp hard), chewy with an airy thicker edge. The coal oven is so hot it literally takes a couple minutes to cook. Specialty pizzas are all delish, especially the Del Rey. Truffle oil, yum.
Salads all excellent. The house dressing is really good, and they don't drown the salad with it. We split a large house salad between three people and it was enough. Didn't order them this time, but the limoncello wings are outstanding. Flavorful, juicy, roasted in the coal oven - not fried. Worth getting to share with the table. Love that this place is puppy friendly (outside seating). Makes it easy to invite friends that don't want to leave their pups in the condo. The only surprise is that you can easily spend upwards of $25 per person. For pizza! It's just that good, you want to order a lot.
Love this place. Food is great and service is great!
Had dinner with my daughter. Food was delicious and the service was outstanding.
Food is fresh and yummy. Nutella nuggets are the best!
We had the Tuscan Pizza, which I found to be unique amongst pizza's offered in other establishments. The generous portions of prosciutto and shaved parmesan were top-shelf products, and I loved the fresh arugula. The coal-fired crust had a wonderful charred flavor and a marvelous texture. At 10:00 p.m. I thought the lighting could have been a little more dimmed. Loved the sound track from the 70's, but it was a bit too loud. Service from Kyle was excellent. I'd go back again without question.
They used to offer a cheese topping alternative to cows milk (e.g. goat cheese) that I wish would be brought back. I don't care for vegan cheese.
Marco’s is the best as usual. Best Neapolitan pizza in Denver.
Amazing food! Fresh! Will definitely be back! Our server was awesome. we had a party of eight and she never missed a beat! The Hell’s Kitchen was amazing! Their gluten free crust is the best! You won’t be disappointed!
Delish pizzas. Very good happy hour. I wish they would serve wine in a stem glass. Please bring back goat cheese for those sensitive to cow cheese.
Great place! We enjoyed lunch so much we went back for dinner!
I came with a party of 12 for a business lunch. Katie, our server, was amazing. She was funny, attentive to food accommodations and refills, and made the overall experience top-notch. Maro's was a new restaurant for everyone, and it will definitely be one that we use again in the future!
Great pizza. Had New York style along with Neapolitan All great. Couldn't have been better.
Great food and service
Boy, this place has gone downhill. We had been going to Marco’s since the original one opened in Denver (on Larimer) about 12 years ago. For years, this place was some of the best food in town. But like so many other places, especially in the Denver area, their quality has taken a nosedive. To be clear, I’m referring to the Inverness location. I haven’t been to the Denver location in a few years so hopefully the quality has been maintained there.
We noticed the decline about a year and a half ago. The food just didn’t taste the same. The pizza was floppy. The wings (which I used to drool over) became less flavorful, and the quality of the chicken seemed off too. But we gave it a few more tries, not wanting to believe the place we liked so much had become just another substandard restaurant. That seems to be the case though.
Tonight was officially our final trip to Marco’s. Tonight the service was terrible, which was never the case in the past. Our server was incredibly inattentive and unaware. You can’t be too critical for a bad server though. Restaurants always take a gamble on their staff, especially new people. So I’ll chalk that one up to one bad egg that we unfortunately had assigned to our table.
But the food was simply not good. As usual we started with the wings. They were more bone and sinew than meat. And the bread that comes with them was so under-baked and flavorless. Even that bread used to be phenomenal, but not anymore.
We ordered a Margherita pizza with mushrooms and it was a pitiful, floppy excuse for what their pizzas used to be. So undercooked. I had a chicken parm sandwich and it was almost all bread. The chicken was borderline disgusting. Frankly I’m not sure it was even chicken. We also had a salad with their prosciutto and that was okay — their prosciutto is still good so I have to give credit there.
In short, a shame to witness their decline.
Neapolitan style gluten free pizza was worth it.
Just excellent. We love Italian. The variety of pizzas and the dough--loved it. Can't wait to try lasagna.
Great experience- pizza was delicious, service was great.
Our favorite pizza in Denver metro. The Del Ray is the best!
Also, awesome Lemoncello wings, salads, and that Nutella pizza-yum!
Wonderful mother’s day experience. Highly recommended
Amazing pizza and service. Definitely a spot to check out anytime you’re in the area!
This was my first visit to Marco's Coal Fired, although I had considered visiting in the past. I went this past Thursday because Marco's was participating in the Project Angel Heart donation program that day. PAH is an organization that I have supported in the past.
I thought the Hell's Kitchen pizza I had was excellent. It was recommended by my server Lauren, who was quite helpful and efficient. I started with a small Ceasar salad which was excellent. I had a draft IPA to accompany the meal. The meal was reasonably priced. I plan to return. I recommend Marco's if you are looking for an excellent casual pizza restaurant in the the South Metro area.
Marco’s is one of my go to places for lunch with the girls or a casual dinner with my husband. The food and service is always great. This visit was no exception. However, the restaurant was freezing. This is not the first time the room temperature was uncomfortable for dining.
Excellent food! Great spot for pizza. Slightly noisy.
Great atmosphere, excellent food. Love the lunch special. Top notch service.
The staff was very accommodating to our party of nine people and allowed us to bring a homemade dessert for our birthday celebration. The pizza and salads were delicious! Our new favorite pizza restaurant!
There were seven of us and we ordered salad and pizza to be served family style. Server made good recommendations on quantity of food and everything was delicious. A good experience overall and really enjoyed the pizza!
The few times we've been the staff has always gone above and beyond in service. We get the antipasto platter each time and they recently took away the marinated garlic which was to die for, but our waitress Lauren went the extra mile and brought us out these delicious balsamic marinated onions and they were incredible! The food is always on point! Lemoncello wings and the best pizza around. This place does it right. All of the thumbs up!
Excellent food and service. Our friend that lived in Italy for over 20 years said it was as close to the real thing as you can get in the States. Highly recommend.
Sadly we have had this same waitress Laura several times. She is not helpful. Not knowledgeable. Disappointed in the staff choice. Makes the dining experience worse when the server doesn’t seem to want to help.
Excellent from service to food options
Marco's has really good pizza. Tastes very fresh. The Italian chicken soup is great. The atmosphere is nice, but I found the restaurant very drafty and at times cold because of the front door opening and closing. Would visit again.
After all the positive reviews, we decided to give Marcos a try. Disappointed. Pizza was soggy and didn’t have very many toppings, salad was meh, service was impersonal and we had to hunt down the waitress...until it was time to pay! Then she showed up. Never again.
Amazing food, amazing service....The crust on their pizzas is the best in town, with just the right amount of crisp on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside.
It’s been too long since I have been here for dinner. The Lemonchello wings were even better than I remembered (and I never order wings anywhere else). Pizza was great and every one working there was extremely friendly. We will definitely be back more often! So glad my office is just a few doors down.
