Great aubiance , and wonderful place for a date night. Will definetely be back.
Charming place, wonderful food, great service. Would definitely return
We went on Valentine’s Day. The food was excellent! Nice portion sizes, flavorful, and beautiful. Fun Valentine’s Day meal.
Amazing valentines day dinner and service was outstanding!
Amazing food, atmosphere and ambiance. Our favorite dishes were the buratta and the gnocchi. We will definitely be back!!
This was our first visit to Marchesa and it will not be our last. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. Phillipe our server was excellent, very polite and fun at the same time, also very knowledgeable.
I have been to Marchesa numerous times and have always had a good experience. Unfortunately this time the service was very poor. The food was delicious as always.
The food, service and atmosphere were excellent!! COVID-19 precautions were in place and adhered to by staff. The sea bass and risotto were perfect, as was the pomegranate creme brulee. Hope to return soon!
Wonderful service wonderful food
The menu is old school and stuck in the past. If you're looking for a more modern French dining experience, I would look elsewhere. However, if you want a meat focused menu with throwbacks like toast points, the food is well priced and well prepared.
We had a good time but got kicked out as we were about to order dessert. The manager said we reached the 2-hour time limit. This was not explained to us at the beginning, but I understand it is the current law. Recommend ordering fast or you may not make it full service.
Cocktails are really good you should try them. The Truffle Burrata is fantastic, and the Lobster bisque too. The Risotto is very flavorful a little salty but is a personal preference thing. The prices also seem very reasonable. Leaves lots of room for tipping.
Wonderful meal and experience!! We ate in the outdoor bird house and it was plenty warm. Service was fabulous and food was delicious!!
The service and food were out of this world! We started with the French onion soup, which is the best I’ve ever had!
And the burrata salad & charcuterie were heavenly!
I ordered the scallops as my main dish and they were great too!
The cocktails were tasty and the ambiance was great!
Luardo (sp?) was our server and he was fantastic! So friendly and kind!!
I would definitely go back!
The service and the ambiance were very good, however, the food was, unfortunately, not good at all.
The steak in the steak frites was barely edible as it was so tough even though it was medium-rare.
The risotto w/ seafood did not feature any of the flavors as described, i.e. saffron, fennel, etc. It was a plain and unflavorful risotto dish with a bunch of seafood tossed in at the end. The portion size was huge.
We could have complained, but it was so nice to be out to dinner during this madness.
We celebrated New Year’s Eve in one of the greenhouses here. The ambiance was beautiful, the food was delicious, and it was an overall great experience.
Cannot even begin to say how lovely and accommodating Marchesa is, not to mention how delicious! We found them after having our New Years Eve reservations canceled 3 days before NYE because of “overbooking” and WOW was it the best unfortunate circumstance ever! Marchesa is beautifully decorated and has a staff that goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. It was my sister’s 21st birthday dinner and she was (rightfully) upset to be celebrating in a pandemic, but Marchesa made her experience so wonderful that she has called it the best birthday ever. I would go back any day.
We went for New Year’s Eve and were very impressed, enjoyed both the food and the service 🙂
Wonderful place to dine! Beautiful restaurant, kind staff, delicious food!
Went for dinner Friday. The joys of
Amazing food and service despite COVID. You can eat inside with open windows and heating. It was comfortable and we enjoyed the dinner without freezing.
One of Chicago’s best. Can’t wait to go back
The food, service, and ambiance were all wonderful. Marchesa's outdoor seating is warm, cozy, and personal. Although it was in the 30s outside, we were perfectly warm without jackets in the outdoor dining tents.
Great food and atmosphere.
Our sever Daniel is absolutely one of the best.
I had the most amazing restaurant experience. I will be coming back time and time again to make more truly special memories with friends and family in an inviting atmosphere! The Marchesa family is truly one of a kind. Thank you everyone!!!
Absolutely lovely food and service. The quality of everything is amazing as well. It felt as if we stepped out of Chicago into a real French bistro. The price of the food is outstanding with ranges of flavors, sizes, and variety, making it a great spot for anyone to try.
Exceptional cuisine in River North. Beautiful location and great service. Have not been disappointed by a single dish.
The atmosphere is extremely romantic - we loved the decor. It was nice to be in a traditional white table clothe environment for a change. The servers were pretty attentive but we waited quite a long time between appetizer and entree. We love French good and while we were overall very happy with our food, we’ve had better French food at both higher and lower price points in Chicago.
Great ambiance, great for date night or an upscale dinner
Marchesa is magnificent! Artful presentation, perfect gracious service, cool soundtrack (perfect mix of trance electronica and French music), beautiful interior design/atmosphere, and most importantly, wonderful culinary creations! Easily one of the best restaurants in the city, and one of the best meals I've had anywhere in the country. Dress up, slow down, relax into one of their comfy banquettes and enjoy the fine dining experience; make and evening of it (it's not fast food). You'll be glad you did.
Phillip our server was great ! The food and atmosphere was great also!
Marchesa’s food was exceptional. But the best part of the experience was the service. Our waiter was excellent and all the staff was so attentive. My boyfriend and I are in our 20s so we frequently do not receive very good service at nice restaurants - most likely due to the presumption that we will not tip well. But at Marchesa we were treated exceptionally and the food was delicious!
Dined here on a visit to Chicago. We had a fantastic experience. Out waiter Philippe was charming, efficient and warm. The foos was fantastic. I had the lamb and it was delicious. My partner had the mushroom risotto and it was also amazing. Wine selection was very good.
Room and bar was stylish and art on the walls was beautiful.
We will definitely return!
Fantastic service, food, and ambiance! Celebrated my birthday here and it was so special.
We celebrated my birthday at Marchesa and it was an amazing experience! We had a drink down in the Champagne Cave first, then went to our table where they had my name printed on the paper menus. We had the Petrossian osstera caviar, lobster bisque, sea bass and the filet mignon. The portions are generous and the food was delicious! We’ll definitely be back again soon!
We were a party of 4 on a Saturday evening, and it was a seamless, relaxing and indulgent time for us. The service was very attentive, not overbearing. The food was great, with a high attention to detail and smartly prepared and presented, (not silly or overdone). I love the beautiful yet approachable room. I appreciated everyone (including us) wearing masks. I would dine again, thank you!
My husband and I ate here for our anniversary and had a lovely time. The food was outstanding, as well as the service. The atmosphere was elegant yet chic and modern. I had the lobster bisque to start and then the steak frites. My husband had the foie gras and duck a l'orange. I love that the menu has some pasta and risotto options as well as French fare. My husband loves duck and foie gras, whereas I'm not such a fan so it's great to have some place we can eat where we both can get the food we like. Staff wore masks for COVID, sanitizer was readily available and they had both paper and virtual menus (QR code). Indoor and outdoor dining options; we ate inside and tables were properly set for social distancing. Can't wait to go back!
It get's better ad better. What a great and comfortable room...so romantic.
Great for special occasions or just amazing risotto
