Chef Marcello Lombardo - INSPIRED BY FOOD AND DRIVEN BY A DREAM
Born in the City of Delights, or more commonly known as Palermo, Italy, Marcello fell in love with cooking from a very young age. Influenced by the crystal clear water, the flavours of the culturally rich air and a little encouragement from his mother, he went on to receive professional training from Milan and owned a restaurant on the Adriatic Sea. Now for over 20 years he's brought his joy of Southern Italian cooking to Vancouver. Marcello's is a neighbourhood gem on Commercial Drive in the heart of little Italy set for any occasion.

                            Service was substandard. Waited a while to be greeted at tdd as blue. When server came she said “are you ready”. Not “Can I get you a drink”. We ordered drinks. Waited 10 minutes then server said they should be up in a minute. Came back 5 minutes later to take our order. Drinks not ready. All in all we were there 30 minutes before getting a drink. We ordered a salad to come before our entrees. After a long delay I bet my wife that the salad would come within 2 minutes of our entree. It was actually less than 1 minute. The server didn’t acknowledge this or apologize. (The Caesar salad was flavourless). After dinner we waited a while then server came by and asked if we wanted the bill. Not “would you like to see dessert menu” or “anything else”. Of course the lowest option for tip on the bill was 18%. 🙄. Really a poor experience.

                            Really poor service… No one to fill glasses of water, nothing to use to serve salads amongst 6 of us. Had to ask for pepper. Waiter condescending Some food great, some food very uninspiring. Have come here for years, and found this evening quite disappointing.

                            First time. Service was great. I personally was disappointed, the spaghetti bolognese was very meaty tasting and pasta was overcooked. It was a big portion. My husband had the vongole which did have a lot of clams but he was used to a cream sauce (should have read the menu!). He said it was ok. Not sure I would go back. I like the simple taste of Nook , even though the portions are smaller.

                            The Gnocci were outstanding but I remembered to have them hold the nutmeg. Its very strange to me that I've had this in many places in Italy and never have encountered the nutmeg.. you might want to rethink this and also it should say that it is an ingredient on the menu. The linguine vongole were good but not great and the addition of tomato was weird. Again never have we have never encountered that on our travels so not suer what regional cooking you have influencing th dish but we would ask for it with out next time. just some suggestions. The Waitress could not have been nicer. Wine was pricy for the quality.
