    It can definitely be tough to get a reservation here, especially on weekends . Marcel is tucked away upstairs in West Midtown, a bit subtle if you haven’t been before. They offer valet (priced based on how long you stay), or there's a nearby deck with 2-hour parking validation. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere hits you in the best way. It feels like stepping into a classy 1950s steakhouse, complete with dim lighting, rich wood tones, vintage photos, and just the right background music. It almost has a speakeasy feel. The bar area is nice too - it's a square setup so people can sit around all sides, whether you’re grabbing a drink or just soaking in the ambiance. Even though the place was busy, it didn’t feel cramped at all; high ceilings and great layout help with that. Service was on point from the start. We were greeted quickly, had water and drinks going in no time, and the sommelier came by soon after to walk us through the wine list. Everyone we interacted with took their time, made thoughtful recommendations, and didn’t make us feel rushed. They also made a point to congratulate my wife on her new job, which was a really nice personal touch. Food-wise, everything we ordered was excellent. We had a couple of steaks (NY Strip and Filet), the brie starter, and finished with the baked Alaska. One thing to note—both steaks were very heavily salted. It might just be their style, but it did take away from the actual flavor of the meat a bit for us. The baked Alaska, though, was a standout; fluffy marshmallow exterior, strawberry ice cream, fresh berries, and a brandy sauce. It’s definitely a splurge spot - the steaks, wine, everything adds up quickly, and it’s priced higher than similar spots, even for the same bottles. But with the level of service and experience, it kind of makes sense. All in all, Marcel is a great choice for a special occasion, date night, or if you’re just in the mood for something a little different. We'll definitely be back.

    Marcel is usually one of my favorite dining experiences in Atlanta. The food and service is consistent and very high touch. Outside of my normal visits, I have made it somewhat apart of my birthday ritual to have dinner there. Last week was off. I am not sure if there have been changes in management or major staff turnover. My two servers, Avery and ( I forgot the gentleman’s name ) were nice. But some disconnects wish cocktails, the taste was off and when I asked to taste my wine options so that it could be served with my meal, the tastes came after the steak was served. I enjoyed the bread service as always and opted for caviar to start. The presentation and taste was great. The steak, however, left something to be desired. Temp was not correct (medium rare versus the requested medium) and the presentation was completely inconsistent with what I have come to know here. I have come towards the end of the night before but the Oscar style filet looked sloppy and it was not all lump crab. I took a few bites and was over it. I didn’t want to wait for a new and just doctored the one I had up at home and ate it for lunch the next day. My best friend had made arrangements in advance to treat me for my drinks and dessert. But honestly, I was underwhelmed and not even wanting to stay for dessert. She had also asked if I received the glass of champagne she requested. I will give the benefit of the doubt and assume it was supposed to come with dessert but it would have been nice if it was still offered. I’ve lived here for just 2 short years and don’t like many restaurants, I was sorely disappointed that I couldn’t count on my dining experience on my birthday. I hope it was just an off night.
