Amazing as always.
They offered to put your leftovers in your car!!!!
Okay. A very good friend of mine frequents this restaurant and I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WHY. The ambience is very nice. Very plush and cozy. Leather and wood. Beautiful jazz music playing and top notch staff. My servers were not only dashing, but knowledgable and friendly. I had the Filet Madame and the Marcel salad which is fantastic but the STEAK just melts in your mouth. I had a nice white wine from near Sancerre and the server even brought me a taste of a red. I opted for the coffee almond ice cream as dessert. It was just PERFECT. Overall a PHENOMENAL experience. I parked just over in the parking structure where West Egg is but there is also a valet just out front of the building the restaurant is in. On a warmer evening, I would have gone for a stroll. Well, all the more reason to return. This is an experience everyone should enjoy at least once. Worth every penny!
We had to leave before we ate due to water main break forcing the restaurant to close. Can’t wait to go back and try it again...it seems like an amazing restaurant!
What an exceptional experience from start to finish. The decor and atmosphere are among the most unique and beautiful in the city. The sommelier was very professional and helped us navigate their perfect wine list. Our server immediately greeted us and set the tone for an upscale experience. All of our courses we prepared and presented beautifully. Marcel is a must in Atlanta.
Delighted to see beautiful dining and service back in Atlanta! Bravo Marcel!!
One of the best in Atlanta. Gave me the table that I asked for (round booth) and it set the tone for my visit. Other than the first course taking a little time to arrive, the food was one of the best I experienced in Atlanta. Highly recommend the filet. John was a seasoned professional service captain. Won't take long to return!
We took my mother-in-law out for her 77th birthday dinner and it was perfect. The food and wine were delicious. It was expensive but worth it. She felt very special and a gentleman with an operatic voice sang her happy birthday.
Great evening as always, Tanner was an excellent custodian of our evening.
Enjoy this restaurant as the food is outstanding. It's just really expensive, and I am used to paying well for good meals.
However, my biggest complaint would be how dark, dark, dark the restaurant is. This is why I don't come more often.
Emily and I had dinner at Marcel on my 77th birthday - it was our first time at Marcel.
Our experience started out well (w/ free parking at an adjacent parking garage). The ambiance in Marcel is absolutely first rate - almost a feeling that we had gone back in time to a happier place!
We had an early reservation and manager Bob came to our table and gave us a very friendly 5 minute welcome including multiple “happy birthdays”.
We had 2 waiters- Maurice & his assistant Larry. Maurice took time to explain the menu in great detail which was much appreciated.
PROBLEM 1 - The restaurant is dark and reading the menu was difficult for my old eyes. More importantly, the darkness led later to further difficulty just seeing my food.
PROBLEM 2 - Because waiter Maurice was also handling an adjacent table of ten diners, we saw little of him after we ordered and we were mostly taken care of by the Larry.
So, we started with very good drinks from the bar. Emily had an Oysters Rockefeller type appetizer that she absolutely loved; I had an unexceptional Caesar Salad.
Emily’s main course was Veal Parmesan.
PROBLEM 3 - Emily expected veal filets in tomato sauce but what she got was a bone in veal chop smothered in cheese. She was not happy with her choice.
I ordered the 22 ounce “Cote de Boeuf” medium rare ribeye (warm RED center). BTW - This is the most expensive steak I have ever ordered in my life at a hefty $79.00.
PROBLEM 4 - I love steak but don’t usually order filet or strip steak which were the only beef options on the menu under $70! So I took a chance and was not rewarded. The steak was a bit overcooked (though it was so dark that it was hard to tell). And the steak was tough.
NOTE: Part of the toughness problem may have been the flimsy steak knife provided.
PROBLEM 5 - Our side dish (potatoes au gratin) was served cold but replaced.
PROBLEM 6 - So end of meal and NO FREE b’day dessert.
The bill was $220 plus tip.
We will not be back.
Love this place, but it ain't cheap. Great food, great service, great ambiance. Don't let the curbside view fool you!
Over the top! Lovely restaurant. One of my favorites. Beautiful ambience and delicious, well presented food with amazing service.
I just found my favorite Atlanta reataurant. Francophile that I am.....this restaurant filled a deep void. Thank you!!! Jim Glover
This was an awesome night. The food and service was outstanding. The ribeye was so tasty with the oscar on top. Best tasting steak in the ATL.....
Great ambiance, food & service!
Everyone was amazing and accommodating. Our waiter, Tanner, was the best!!!
This was our first time visiting. Since it was New Year’s Eve, there was a slight delay in seating but the food immediately made up for it with the serving of the bread and a little cocktail. Overall, the food was delicious. I was disappointed that a menu dessert staple (Baked Alaska) that receives rave reviews from customers was not offered. Very sad since the regular menu was offered and we were looking forward to this treat.
Great service from our table servers!!! Will be back....
Another amazing night at Marcel.
Outstanding service and an exceptional dining experience for an early New Year’s Eve dinner. Arrived a bit early and was able to enjoy a drink at the bar. Seated promptly and staff was very attentive to our needs.
Best meal I’ve ever had. The ambiance was magical, the food was phenomenal & the service was truly perfect. If you’re looking for the best steak in Atlanta and a restaurant that treats you like you’re the only guest in the building this is the place for you. We will be back!
The staff was wonderful and very welcoming. The food was delicious even the lobster risotto which was fantastic. Highly recommend for a special dinner
5TH DEC 31st in a row and it continues to inspire...Love this place and will continue to be a patron.
Great restaurant and amazing atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.
Great great atmosphere, great food and great service!
I’ve been to Marcel many times and hate to rate based upon one experience. It was still a very enjoyable night and has become a December family tradition celebrating our two sons’ birthdays with their spouses. We also go there frequently with friends. This visit the food was not up to our previous experiences and our waiter was rather rude and less than attentive. His assistants were the only saving grace. Several of our dinner items were improperly entered and we received food we didn’t order. The waiter refused to allow a steak order than was prepared less than medium. Never heard of that in a steak house. He also rarely came around to top off our wine.
I won’t let one bad experience deter me from returning. I still believe Marcel to be a great place.
This was our first visit to Marcel and we were pleased beyond expectations. Excellent service and food. I would like to have seen a broader selection of wine in the 'by the glass' category, but that was the only thing I'd change on the menu.
Amazing food and experience. Really reminds me of a classy NYC Steakhouse
What a wonderful find! This is a Steakhouse, but with a completely unique vibe. As the name implies, it has a French flair, but make no mistake, you can get the great steakhouse favorites. The service was outstanding and every course of the meal was perfect.
Excellent service- at the bar and table. Great food!
Our initial impression was that the decor created an eclectic feel. Something like an old Victorian museum. With that in mind the service made us right at home. Jimmy was phenomenal! The food was complimentary to Jimmy’s hospitality skill. We will make it our business to return and invite friends and family next occasion. Jimmy we will be looking for you. Thank you for the worthy experience and may 2020 bring you the level of accolades deserving of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
This was a surprise birthday party and it could not have been any better. The entire Marcel team was fantastic and the food superb.
Amazing. Will be back soon!
Glorious. Amazing. The best.
Spent 4.5 hours here catching up with great friends. First class experience. Justine and Pam were fantastic. Thanks for letting us close the restaurant down!
Lovely atmosphere. Fine food. Great service.
The fact that a place like Marcel could get anything less than 5* on any review is proof there are crazy people in this world. My wife and I came for an early Christmas outing, and I can hardly put into words how amazing our experience was (but I'll do my best!) To start, the restaurant can be a tad tricky to find. While the address (1170 Howell Mill Rd) pops up easy enough on the GPS, Marcel is actually located above Aziza, which isn't immediately obvious until you go up the stairwell, across from Yeah! Burger. Parking was free and plentiful. Inside, the decor of the restaurant is stunning - dimly lit with a fancy yet modern/cool vibe. I'll state it now because I'm sure I'll repeat several more times: our server, Maurice, was completely fantastic. Now for the food. We had the Escargots ($17.95 for 7 snails) to start - both my wife and mine's first time trying snail - and it was excellent. The parsley butter sauce and the sourdough you dip it in were essentially legal crack. We then split the Salad Marcel (1 salad is PLENTY enough to share, and because we mentioned we were splitting it they brought it out on 2 plates. Highly recommend.) I called in 24 hours in advance for the Beef Wellington ($119.95), which was possibly the best meal I've ever had, no exaggeration. The meat was tender and juicy, and the pastry perfection. For our side we split the Cacio e Pepe ($13.95), or as Maurice put it, fancy macaroni & cheese with black pepper. That's exactly what it was, and we loved it. For desert, the Creme Brulee ($9.95) which was hands down the best I've ever had. My wife also had a cocktail, though the name slips my mind. All in all, we spent $260 including tip, and drove home mutually convinced we'd both eaten the best meal we'd ever had. EVERYTHING, from the decor, to the service (Maurice is the best!!), to the escargot, salad, beef wellington desert, was perfect. Heck, even the complimentary bread they brought out was arguably the best I've ever had. In summary, this
Clayton was an amazing waiter. Excellent service, excellent experience
Terrific food and service
