Marc Forgione is a good choice when you need a non-stuffy special occasion spot.
Great room, excellent service. Kampachi app was a highlight, great way to start. Chili Lobster lived up to its billing (although at $50 was a bit of a surprise!), it was awesome. Lamb Osso Buco special and Halibut mains were also on point. The sommelier was great, forgot her name, but she made great choices for us (although wish they had half bottles of champagne, since they had none by the glass, and we wanted a toast before going to wine). We will be back for sure...

Food was incredible. Especially loved the lobster appetizer, the halibut, and the brick chicken entree. I a cookies for dessert. Very special meal with a warm, cozy ambiance.
Came to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. Service was great! Staff was aware of the occasion and there was a nice card at the table waiting and the dessert came with a candle and Happy Birthday written on the plate. Food was so good. I am still thinking about the Halibut we had and the Mezcal cocktail was a winner! Will certainty be back again and recommend!

I loved my first experience at Marc Forgione restaurant. The food was the highlight and it was delicious. I had the tuna tartare and the chicken. I also tasted the spaghetti vongole which was wonderful. The atmosphere was casual and fun. The service was ok, we asked 2-3 x for a few things (not ever getting one of them).
I would highly recommend as I am a foodie and for me me it is about the food and atmosphere.

From beginning to end my experience at this restaurant was outstanding. The Chilli Lobster I had with Texas Toast was beyond my taste expectations as were the Kampachi appetizer, Monkfish entree and Pavlova desert. My waiter, Michael T, was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and took the time to explain in detail all the dishes I was enjoying. It was also great meeting Doug Forgione, whom I would like to extended a special thanks to for the hospitality shown me during my visit. I will make it a point to recommend this restaurant to family and friends who plan to visit NYC.
I love love love this restaurant. In my mind, it is the perfect place to have a dinner with my husband on a cold winter night. The service is perfect. The food is delicious. It just never disappoints.

Amazing. AMAZING. I've been dining here since 2010 and there is always something new and incredibly delicious, with both the cuisine and the beverage program. The service is always top notch as well. But one of the best things is, it is not stuffy at all. High quality, high service, but very welcoming.
We love everything about Marc Forgione. The food is exceptional and the atmosphere warm, rustic and inviting. Service is attentive and friendly as well. The roast chicken is wonderful as is everything else we’ve ever had on the menu.
Celebrating the Holidays with my daughter who flew in from San Francisco. Toasted with Concord grape mimosias. YUM followed by chili lobster and chicken under a brick everything delicious!!!! Can’t wait for my next visit!

Likely the most under-rated restaurant in NYC. Anyone who is local and knows this place likely loves it and raves about it. Most, however, do not - and that's a shame.
Chicken under a brick is a staple and a must order. Simple dish that will ruin you for chicken anywhere else forever. I believe it's an example of what a professional chef can do with a fairly simple dish - with quality ingredients and simple preparation. It's not something that's unattainable or made with a special ingredient. It's a simple dish that everyone can "TRY" to replicate at home, but will never get right. So much so, that Forgione actually gives the recipe out as a postcard.
My husband and I joined two other friends for a birthday dinner. When we arrived, there was a handwritten card on the table to the birthday celebrant. The service was phenomenal - top notch but never stuffy. The waitstaff were engaging and friendly, immediately attentive to any needs (such as multiple accidentally dropped napkins) without fuss or formality. The menu had a range of prices and if your goal were to minimize cost (which ours was definitely not) then you could manage to keep it reasonable. The food was generally well prepared and flavorful. Our only complaint was that the $47 truffled mac and cheese was dry and the noodles overcooked. If you are going to be audacious enough to charge $47 for mac and cheese, it had better be perfectly prepared. Otherwise, our dinner was blissful. We will certainly be back.
