Awesome as always
The restaurant met my expectations. There was a penned note from the staff when we arrived congratulating us on our anniversary. The note was accompanied by a free glass of champagne. The Chili lobster was out of this world! We also ordered the octopus with risotto and the chicken dish. The chicken dish was enough to serve four people. It was succulent and flavorful. I can't wait to eat the leftovers.
The service was attentive and kind.
Ate here for the first time a few weeks back, was amazing.
Came back to bring my wife on date night and was disappointed. Service was really slow, had to ask for our menus and waited 15 minutes before they brought out our bottle of wine.
Wait staff was really nice and I can understand they’re busy, but it was noticeable and could’ve been at least addressed.
Dinner was fine, but our dessert was still frozen when they brought it out (you couldn’t even cut through it).
Was pretty weak showing for a really nice restaurant. Maybe just an off night for the kitchen...
My wife and I had the tasting menu, and once again it was Great! The classic Chili Lobster and Kampachi were great as always, but the new addition of the Spaghetti with tiny squid was outstanding! The service as always was top notch, even with a busy dinning room they made you feel like you were the top priority.
Delicious food - every single thing - Wey accommodating to gluten free - perfect service - new favourite
As usual, Marc Forgione delivered across the board. Maintaining its long-running rank as my favorite restaurant in NYC, our staple, the Hiramasa was incredible yet again, and the hot oysters were something different and delicious. With top notch, attentive service, I can’t wait to go back again.
Food is delicious, service is very nice, setting is beautiful but prices are too high.
This was the best dining experience I’ve had in several years.
The restaurant was packed. Nevertheless it was quiet, and we were able to converse with a normal tone. Kudos to the designer.
The wine list was extensive, and varied. The service was incredible. Our server was very attentive, but not pushy. He seemed to appear miraculously out of thin air when we needed something.
We had the torchon of foie gras and chili lobster for appetizers. Both were excellent. I’ve been to Singapore several times. The chili lobster was just as good as the best chili crab in Singapore.
Our main courses were every bit as good as the appetizers.
Despite the crowd, we never felt rushed. I will be back on my next trip to NYC.
I am from the industry. Get to try many restaurant and Marc Forgione is always outstanding. Try the tasting menu, this is where you can truly experience the Chef skills.
Awesome as always!
Second visit to Marc Forgione did not disappoint! We returned over a year after our first visit for another special occasion meal, and it was once again a wonderful experience. The service was friendly, helpful and attentive without being overbearing. The food was playful and delicious without being too pretentious. The setting was warm and rustic and felt like a good restaurant should. The desserts are outstanding, and I joked that the Smores should be criminalized because it's such a fantastic dessert. They treat special occasions as if they're special to them as well. Highly recommend!
Great evening at Marc Forgione. The service was excellent and the Hiramasa is a truly unique appetizer that you have to experience to believe.
Everything we ate was amazing. Definitely recommend the chili lobster and chicken under-a-brick!
For the first time in about 6-7 visits, we left disappointed. We had the tasting menu and beverage pairing, which we've ordered on most previous occasions. While every other experience has been outstanding, this time was not up to par. Most of this had to do with the service which wavered between being discombobulated to disinterested. Also, it seems like they cut the number of courses but raised the price. Some of the courses were excellent (halibut, hiramasa, chili lobster), others were not good (notkitori was fatty and rubbery; strip steak was served with gristle and not very flavorful - a little gristle is no big deal when you have a whole steak but it's an issue when you're only given a two-bite portion).
Good spot for gathering, Upscale. Great food, good service. Gets loud at peak times.
Wonderful food and staff
Was a great meal. Great service. Great explanation of the dishes. We had our kids with us and they also had a great meal! Adding to rotation of places to go when in the city.
Great experience celebrating our anniversary! The staff was superb and the food didn’t disappoint! I would come back here again for sure!
Went for Valentine’s Day and made a perfect choice.
Service, ambiance, creativity of the menu, quality of the ingredients, the food... all of it wonderful. An excellent dining experience
The food, service and ambiance alone are enough to make this one of New York’s best restaurants. I’ve been here twice and each time Chef Marc Forgione came to visit our table to say hello and talk for a few moments. Such a kind and humble person. If you haven’t been to this restaurant you’re missing out.
Great cocktails and bar service. Waiter was attentive. Sommelier was awesome. Apps were good but entrees (swordfish, halibut and chicken) were all exceptional. Cooked perfectly, great flavors and well presented. Also don’t skip out on the 10 minute choc chip cookie dessert. Would def come back
Our favorite restaurant in NYC !
Chef Marc Forgione is highly creative and attentive, He always goes out of his way to personally visit our table and to chat and bring some new amazing creation for us to taste .
Simply the best!
One of the best meals I have ever had. Incredible flavours and superb service. Certainly worth having the tasting menu.
Excellent and very interesting food. Do not expect big plates at all. Pricey but worth it if you look for something different.
What a wonderful night! It was such a nice time. All of the food was stellar! Definitely have to get the chili lobster!!!
The food and the service were wonderful! Never disappoints.
The food is beyond amazing, the atmosphere is always a cool, confident, comfortable vibe but it's the staff that makes a memorable experience even more outstanding. We have been over a dozen times and have never had a bad meal or experience. .......it's truly a NYC experience that shouldn't be missed. Marc and the staff are always outstanding!
Without a doubt, the best food I've ever had anywhere! I'd highly recommend to anyone and we will be back next time we're in NYC.
Beautiful ambiance. It was a slow night so the restaurant was very quiet. Delightful flavors and presentations. Exquisite service - knowledgeable and attentive, but not overly precious.
The food was spectacular. Interesting and unusual flavor combinations, beautifully presented. The Crudo with schezchuan buttons was a stand out. The scallops were superb. The roast chicken outstanding. Will definitely return.
Amazing meal! Very expensive but worth it. Foie gras and chicken were both excellent.
Great food, service was just ok. Waiter was very confused when I asked for a vegetarian meal, and asked if I was "sure" that I wouldn't eat fish. However, the other attendants were excellent at keeping wine & water glasses filled, and my veggie dish was delicious. Great atmosphere, dim but not too dark and quiet enough to have a conversation.
This is my favorite NYC restaurant. We started with the smoked oysters that are so over-the-top flavorful and unique. We both had the halibut with the hazelnuts and cauliflower. The dish was so unique, layers of tastes and the perfect size. Love this place!
This was the second time visiting this restaurant in 5 years. The first time we were non-plussed with the food. We had hoped this time would be better because the place does get its share of accolades, but unfortunately it was a mild disappointment. The service and, especially, the wine list were excellent, but the food was only ok. Too much oil, salt, and the flavors are not subtle. The chef could let the ingredients do his/her talking more. A little more attention to detail in the food and subtleness in the flavors would help a lot.
Most of the food items were very good except lab dish which was awful. Taken back returned still awful. Waiter was a bit lost and not very familiar with menu. I reached out via email to restaurant but received no response.
Always an amazing meal at MF! We love the Halibut with the proposal sauce - we too would propose marriage to Marc! Had a special bottle of wine and the Sommelier is always helpful! The whole experience is great it's what keeps us coming back time and time again.
This is the third time I’ve been here. I try to come every time I am in New York and the service is consistently bad. Awful! If you are really hungry I don’t recommend because you will be hangry. The price for the food is a bit pricey. We ordered the huge ribeye, which was all fat and they preceded to tell us after the bill was brought that the price was for two people and the menu price was per person. I am a restaurant owner and a foodie, do I really give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. I mean hell, this was my third time because I felt I didn’t give the place a fair chance the first two times. I saw the Mexican helpers more than our server. We spent $500 for three people. It’s not the money, but enjoyment of going to dinner and the experience. Won’t be back there again.
We absolutely love this restaurant. It’s our favorite in New York. The menu is fluid with frequent changes, which is great for regular diners. Everything on the menu is top quality, crafted with significant attention to detail. The service is wonderful - that includes the bar where mixologists can make you a drink of choice off the menu. For the price, it can’t be beat in NYC! Also, it’s refreshing that they allow you to bring a bottle of wine for a small corkage ($25). You’ll never make a mistake recommending this restaurant
another amazing meal here! the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and i love the seasonal aspect of it. can't wait to go back.
