Marc Forgione Ratings and Reviews
Here for our anniversary and enjoyed ourselves like we usually do. This is our favorite restaurant in NYC now for many years and never has disappointed from day one. The service is always outstanding and we are always treated like family and feel very comfortable dinning here. Food is outstanding and the kitchen is always happy to fill special requests like making a special dish not on the menu at that time. We were lucky and truffles were on the menu so took full advantage of that. Go and enjoy one of NYC best placed to dine.
Overall, a great experience. Delicious and innovative dishes. A bit noisy, but we knew that. The problem was that our table was not ready at the time of our reservation, which has been confirmed a few times. 9:15 pm, came on time, table was finally ready by 10:15. I most certainly understand sometimes there is a wait even with a reservation but 1 hour wait it not acceptable. We ended up sitting by the bar, manager who was very nice indeed, found us a spot and gave us a first round of drinks on the house, which is definitely a nice gesture and appreciated.
Been hear every time I come to New York and have always recommended it to friends, but no this time. For me the price has risen year on year but the quality of food has faltered. Our meal this time was hit and miss and when offering us the special starter they didn't mention it was $30+ and not the average of $20 which the other starters were. Also our table was next to the window and was freezing but the only other option was the bar which wasn't much warmer.
Let me start this by saying, we've dined at three Michelin Star restaurants and our fair share of dive bars so we love all spectrums of the food world.
The food was delictable, they had some menu items we'd never tried before and some staples with a new twist. Just really, really good food which is obviously the foundation of a fantastic restaurant.
What really put us over the top was , Mark (no, not Marc), our server. He was genuinely, the BEST, server we've ever had a restaurant. He was kind, funny, knowledgeable, and patient with questions. Marc Forgione, if you're reading this, give that man a raise, he's your most valuable asset, I assure you.
We loved our evening at Marc Forgione and would highly recommend this non fussy, super delicious, well cared for restaurant.
Planned to go there as an engagement dinner. Left a comment telling the restaurant that. They were so accommodating when we showed up and offered us a quiet table for two up front. I had already popped the question before we had gotten there (she said yes :-) so we opted for a different table (which was a lot less quiet, but we didn't mind). Had a wonderful meal. They gave us a champagne toast and a congratulatory dessert. Server, host and everybody was really nice.
The food here is either really a "hit" or a "miss". When the food works then it's outstanding and a true and surprising delight. The misses are more pronounced when you contrast them with the great things they do. Specifically, all the appetizers we had were absolutely original and fantastic - interesting in both substance and taste. But the two entrees were disappointing - the bacon-wrapped salmon and the pork chop. The bacon-wrapped salmon was 'good' (above average, but not much) but not great and the pork chop was very tough to the point of not being edible. Diners at other tables seemed to really enjoy what they were eating so maybe it was just what we ordered. The wait staff tries hard and is fairly attentive. Hard to say why and what happened - maybe the kitchen was off that night. Won't go back and can't really recommend to others.
We dined here with friends and had one of our best meals ever! We opted for the tasting menu, and the restaurant kindly accommodated our individual needs. We also included the wine pairing, the servings for which were very generous!! Every single course was amazing!!! Very creative, incredible dishes, and wonderful blend of flavors. The ravioli and halibut were especially delicious, and the S’MORES dessert was the best version of S’MORES we’ve had at a restaurant. Every dish was a true culinary experience! The service was outstanding, free of any pretenses, and everyone was friendly and accommodating. We also loved the homey atmosphere with a contemporary farmhouse/rustic feel. We’d return in a heartbeat!! What a meal, and dining extravaganza!!
A great recommendation for a wonderful dinner. The staff were exceptional with their suggestions and the three course meal was amazing. The wine pairs were spot on. I have never had the appetizer served with such taste and flavours playing off each other. The entrée was also textures and flavour compliments. Highly suggest the halibut!
Desserts were also mind blowing even s'mores can be creative.
