The last place we ate over a year ago was at Marc Forgione. And we ventured out again for the first time recently. It is our favorite neighborhood restaurant and we were thrilled to be back.
We have eaten here many times before and loved it. Our recent experience, however, was terrible. The menu is extremely limited and they were out of one of the additions to the menu. The prices are very high for what you get, and the food this visit was just average...very disappointing return.
Marc Forgione was very considerate and made our night a great experience. We celebrated our one year anniversary there and they had some special treats for us along with a hand written note. Very thoughtful and made our night very special!

Friendsgiving celebration - amazing food, have been a long time devotee. With that being said, kind of disappointed the bread & amuse bouche disappeared. Other than that, a great dinner!

After receiving poor service (delays, several orders forgotten) and following my regular support of this local restaurant throughout the pandemic, I was disappointed to be handed a check with a 10% COVID fee included along with a guilt trip from the server about how the extra 10% on top of my 20% tip is needed for all of the suffering the restaurant has endured during the pandemic. Only after it was added to the bill and following the guilt trip from the server was I told it is not mandatory. By then, any good will was lost. I thought our being regular customers through a pandemic was enough - unfortunately, not. If funds are needed, it is much better to just increase the prices. Otherwise, as was the case for us, I left feeling like I was taken advantage of instead of appreciated for my business.

As always, MForgione continues to delight my palate - the dinner specials that started with baked oyster topped with cheese (name of which evades my memory) has left me found wanting for more, the trout was awesome and the dessert concord grape cream cake was fantabulous (with that I broke my keto diet!). Thanks for making our anniversary special as always!

The food was excellent especially the Halibut en Croute, which was exceptional! I really wanted to try the very popular Chili Lobster with Texas Toast too, but my friend couldn't have lobster 😭. Next time for sure! Our server was the best as well. She went above and beyond to hook us up with little "extras" during the course of our meal, which made the experience that more wonderful. I look forward to my next dining experience at Marc Forgione.

I have enjoyed several birthday dinners since the restaurant first opened in 2008 (I think), and as of Tuesday night the quality of the cuisine, service, and experience has not been diminished in any way. That almost never happens in NYC! Thank you for another delicious and fun evening.

Above and beyond anything that could have been expected. After visiting Peasant, and meeting and talking with Chef Forgione (and being absolutely blown away by the food) only a week ago for my first dating anniversary with my boyfriend, I decided to take him here for his birthday. We were treated like royalty from the second we walked in, and the food matched the service. We ordered the chicories salad to start. It may sound/seem simple, but that was one of the best salads we’ve ever had. We were also given the Hiramasa tartare dish, which my boyfriend declared the best tartare dish he’s ever had. I had the half chicken (cooked under a brick), and he had the halibut - both outrageous. We had the carrot cake for dessert, but we were also given what the waiter called, ‘The Egg.’ He basically told us to move back in our seats a bit as he proceeded to toss a white chocolate egg filled with passion fruit into a plate ... it was as hysterical as it was delicious, and my boyfriend does not like passion fruit.
There are no words that can properly describe this experience. From the card my boyfriend received when he sat down wishing him a happy birthday from the restaurant to the desserts to the sparkling wine to the everything bagel amuse bouche to the amazing atmosphere, this was a one of a kind experience. Simply outrageous, and we will be back.
