Marc Forgione is a good choice when you need a non-stuffy special occasion spot.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

We had such a disappointing experience here after having enjoyed this place a few years ago. The two of us were seated (more than 20 minutes after our reservation time, with no apology - the two hostesses seemed largely useless, particularly after we informed one that our table was very wobbly and she did nothing about it) between two extremely loud groups of people. Their noise was distracting, to say the least.

Food was generally good - chili lobster is good as always and snacks were delicious, even though we were encouraged to add an extra piece of each to our order because there were only three pieces to an order. Wine by the glass list is not great and very expensive. The $150+ tomahawk steak for two was a huge disappointment. Underseasoned with just a smidge of chimichurri, which we were not given more of when we asked for it. Listen, you cheapskates, just give more chimichurri.

By the end of the night (and almost $500 poorer, without dessert and with 2 drinks each) we just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. Service was perfunctory and oddly robotic.

TL;DR version: for what this extremely loud place is charging, the customer service stinks and the food is not worth it.

Everything was great except they seated us about 20 minutes after our booking time and we got there 30 minutes before. Obviously we didn’t expect to get seated early but certainly didn’t expect to wait 20 minutes past our time when it seemed like a couple who arrived much later than us were seated earlier than us. But the food was fantastic and we will give it another try!

Fantastic night out for a a birthday celebration. From the hand written bday note on the table to the wonderful service, incredibly delicious and inventive food to the lovely wine - the evening was a memorable one and one I certainly want to repeat!!!

On vacation and booked as close to our hotel.
We had the Spring Tasting menus which was truly amazing.
There were dishes of incredible ingredients that absolutely challenged and delighted our palate
We will return when possible
Staff were a large cast of very engaging and helpful people
We are booked at three Michelin rated restaurants over the next week and this place will be our benchmark

The waiter was amazinh and we had a lovely time until the maitre d/host told us we had to leave our table two minutes after we paid our bill. We were not at the reataurabt for that long even and it ruined our experience. It was rude and unprofessional

I have never previously experienced the variety and depth of flavor I had at MF. Service was above and beyond. Ambience was clean, cozy, and romantic. Wine selection was vast. One of the best meals I’ve ever had.

I love Marc Forgione. Every time I’ve dined there before I have left thinking it is the absolute all around best. Unfortunately the waiter really ruined that warm and fuzzy feeling for me. His coldness toward my friend and I detracted from it. We asked to share a wine pairing and both ordered the tasting menu. I’ve done this at many very nice restaurants with no issue whatsoever. The waiter reacted as if this was the most ridiculous request ever and “had to check if ‘they’ would allow that.” “They” did but he was very standoffish for the entire meal. Everyone else we interacted with was fabulous—the front of house people, the bartender and trainee, the gentleman bringing the food, and even the manager who poured a few of our shared drinks.

Honestly, was terrific until the last course...the raspberry cake dessert just wasn’t good enough to follow up the strong apps and main, and the server forgot our dessert drinks. He apologised, but we’d been waiting a long time at that point. He could have offered to comp the half eaten overly dry cake, but he was flustered and working a lot of tables. Was it worth $110 a head? No. But it was still a strong 4 out of 5...3 out of 5 if you are looking at the price tag. But, that said, they were packed, so I doubt our absence in the future would be missed.

Came for a friend’s birthday dinner and was blown away by how far they went to make the night special.

I’ve been here several times but loved how they had a handwritten thank for her on the table, then started us off with a champagne toast ending with a special dessert!

The food is always flawless, the drinks are good, and the service takes it to the next level.

Nice design of restaurant, but food had excessive amount of fat. Our experience considerably diminished due to misfortune of sitting next to a table with a really annoying person airing his personal problems with a shrill voice.

Such a wonderful place for a special celebration or an evening out with friends. As always, food is superb (chicken under a brick and tomahawk steak were lush even as leftovers!), staff exceedingly knowledgeable, friendly and go the extra mile to ensure you have a top rate experience.

We came here for my husband’s birthday and enjoyed most everything. We both ordered the mezcal cocktail. It’s not what either of us were expecting. It comes with tons of ice in a tiki glass like you’re on vacation. It’s also pretty sweet and just not what we wanted. My husband send his back but I didn’t have the heart to. We started with the chili lobster and Texas toast and shared the chicken. Both dishes were delicious, but beware, the lobster is $56 dollars (it’s marked MP). We also got the warm cookies for dessert. The service was really impressive. I had marked through open table that it was a birthday and we sat down to a handwritten note (nice touch) and also were poured a complimentary glass of champagne. The amuse bouche were probably the highlights of the meal. Amazing bread and the chicken consume with filled little bread (crouton?) was unreal.

The special ceviche was so amazing and flavorful, each bite was more vibrant then the next! My friend and I split the tomahawk steak for 2, I am not a big meat eater but this was out of this world and I loved the sides it came with!! Can't wait to bring my husband!

My third time in a year ( I live in Oklahoma!) it’s amazing every time!! The food is so good. Erin, the sommelier, needs to be recognized!! She has been so helpful and always spot on!! I love listening to her explain each wine in detail!

We had heard good things about this restaurant and were not disappointed. Exquisite food in cool Tribeca digs. Attentive, friendly service and creative cocktails from the bar. We went with the tasting menu with wines pairings. Michelin star quality and creativity in every one of the nine courses (we added a white asparagus extra course). The halibut in particularly was extraordinary. Although the portions were on the small side (even for a tasting menu) the taste, preparation, and overall quality of the experience made up for it. Highly recommended to those who appreciate some love and care in what they eat.

Absolutely incredible. The restaurant provided us with a HANDWRITTEN note waiting on the table when we arrived to send us happy birthday wishes. THAT is something that stands out.

Food was delicious. You must get the kampachi and the halibut.

No complaints. I will recommend this place to anyone celebrating something special.

Food was amazing - loved the atmosphere! Perfect for date nights (very romantic and rustic). The only thing I found strange was the service. My friend arrived 20 minutes early and was not seated until I arrived, even though not all the tables were taken.

Once again we were absolutely thrilled with our wonderful dinner .
Chef Marc is the best chef in in New York!
We enjoyed some new creative dishes as well as signature dishes .
Service is great, sommelier Erin extremely knowledgeable.
The atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious while maintains big professsioalism. Chef Marc himself was on the premises and as usual, came to our table to greet us and chat.
Simply the best!

I came here for brunch with two friends and we all loved our dishes! The pork carnitas and popover plates were delicious. We were a little bummed they’d run out of the brunch burger, but we came at 1:45pm so weren’t totally shocked. The blood orange mimosas were delicious too!
