What Insiders Are Saying
Marc Forgione is a good choice when you need a non-stuffy special occasion spot.
Amazing!! Marc is an incredible chef and his staff is knowledgeable and of the highest quality.
Marc Forgione was nothing short of amazing! From the moment you walk in, the vibe and ambiance grabs a hold of you! All five senses are immediately engaged and you can’t wait to sit down!
The service is attentive without being the least bit intrusive. Timing of the courses was perfect as was the quality and creativity of the dishes ordered.
Thank you for a most memorable experience!
Excellent Service! Amazing food! The pork belly and Tuna Tartare was exceptional. I will come back for the chicken ... looks delish
Amazing food, little on the pricey side but very satisfying
The attention to detail was amazing!
I have been here three times. Each time was one of the best dining experiences in my life. The service is flawless and when I say flawless, I mean, really, truly perfect. Our waiter, Mark, was exceptionally knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. One of the bar backs, Nick, was incredibly knowledgeable about cocktails and how they make their inventive, delicious drinks. Zoe, the hostess, was warm, friendly and totally on top of everything, and the restaurant was very busy. All of the food was creative, innovative, unique and absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to go back!
Incredible food and totally unpretentious, attentive service.
I went here for my birthday and had a wonderful experience! The service was exceptional and the food is some of the best in the city - meticulously prepared, deliciously combined ingredients, beautifully presented. Absolutely worth the trip and we will definitely go back!
In the positive side the food was fresh, service good, and nice ambience, as well as gluten friendly. However, the food had no harmony. There were way too many flavors in our appetizers of calamari/caponata dish (caponata mixed with salad flavor and calamari). It did not go together. My husband had bacon/watermelon salad and did not like it at all, felt bacon was horrible and dish way too complex. We shared the chicken dish, onions and potatoes were good with initially a nice flavor to the sauce. However after a few bites the onion was overpowering (despite loving onions), and it all covered up chicken that was only ok. It was greasy overall and we both felt sick that night.
Love it- we keep going back! Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Best meal and outstanding service!
An unbelievable culinary experience. Everything from the food to the atmosphere and service was just outstanding!
Amazing. Awesome. Food and service was fantastic. Great for a date. Would go again. You
Probably a little over priced for what is was, but it was overall a good meal.
My wife's birthday and now one to remember for a very long time. Everyone was such a professional, felt like I was being taken care of by family, and a plus how many times do you get to meet the chef with his name on the door it was awesome experience from drinks to the food to the staff.
Thanks for the great memories you gave us.
The food is very good. The ambience is poor.
Noisy and cramped
We love MF. Chicken under a brick is devine!
I thought the food inventive and extremely good. I thought the flavors, the textures and presentations wonderful. The cocktails were interesting with a good level of complexity. The menu was broad enough to cover most tastes. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. Wines by the glass was a wide enough range and also reasonably priced. The waiters were very well informed about the menu selections.
My disappointments were two. The first was that it was a bit loud. The second was that we felt rushed, therefore, not overly welcome. The wait staff did not leave a finished dish or glass on the table for any appreciable time period: the speed was disconcerting and many items were cleared in less than a minute (we timed it a couple of times). They also did what I consider two really rude things, one was that a person's plate was removed before the other had finished, and two was that they brought the bill without being asked as soon as we were finished with dessert. Because of the clearing action and bill presentation, I got the impression that we had a very defined allotted amount of time for our dinner. We were there for exactly 1.5 hours from a 6:15 reservation. And the funny thing was that the restaurant was only about 60% full when we left.
The 4 of us shared the excellent Chili Lobster to start - don't forget to dunk toasts into the broth. My companions and I had the wild sea bass - don't be deceived by the small size of the fish. Despite the small portion, the fish was meaty and very fresh. We didn't even have room for dessert!
Our food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Restaurant was a bit warm but it's summer so to be expected. Definitely worth it if you like well prepared fish.
Nice lowkey spot. rustic decor mixed with sensual lighting creates a perfect causual occasion.
I booked for two and arrived earlier than my friend who was stuck in traffic. Even though there were plenty of tables open, they would not let me sit at table and said I needed to wait at the bar until the entire party was there. I wanted to order a bottle of wine and the starters ahead but the bartenders were quite busy and couldn't answer my questions. Since I wasn't at my table there wasn't really anyone to take care of my order.
Great restaurant for a fun evening. Ambiance is casual, food is very good and the staff is friendly, attentive and very professional.
Great food, casual and fun atmosphere. Good for foodies and for getting together. Quiet enough to chat without raising your voice. Save room for dessert!
Just exceptional. Artistic yet totally satisfying and satiating. Absolutely one of the top two or three restaurants in the city.
Food is pretty good especially chicken on the brick . Cookie dessert is great and tasty .
However , portion is pretty small. Appertizer comes in 3 pieces and we need to add extra piece for 4 in my party .
Marc Forgione was exceptional! We went for our 1st anniversary and they exceeded our expectations. They provided a hand written card for the occasion included special extras throughout the meal, moved us to their best seat in the restaurant and worked very hard to make it a special evening. Our server was excellent and the atmosphere was great not to mention the food was top notch. I will be back on my next trip to NYC for sure!
Incredible food, great service! The atmosphere is warm and vibrant makes it a wonderful dining experince.
Service was very rushed, within an hour of arriving we were done with our dinner. Not what I expected from this level of restaurant and for the price paid.
The food overall was moderate to good, bit salty/over seasoned.
Never disappointed when dining here. There's nothing like it in NYC.
Arrived a little early and the kitchen wasn’t quite open. We were welcomed to sit at the bar where the bartender prepared some delicious cocktails for us while we listened to some upbeat music. Not stuffy at all which was nice for a fine dining experience.
Shortly afterward a very friendly, professional new employee sat us. We enjoyed a nice spot on the patio and tested some more of the cocktail menu. Everything we tried was truly great.
My swordfish was excellently prepared but I wasn’t a huge fan of the sauce which resulted in my meal being a little on the dry side (by choice I suppose I’ll have to admit). My wife’s lamb, however, was fantastic.
Excellent spot to enjoy some great food and drink in a relaxed atmosphere. Worth checking out!
This restaurant is a true gem. The food is innovative, full of flavor and beautifully presented. The chili lobster is a must. The lobster was cooked perfectly and easy to get to (no bib necessary), and the chili broth is amazing. It comes with fresh bread wedges for dunking.
The service was excellent and fun.
Don’t miss this place.
Food was almost a 5. The sushi in crust was overly tart. Otherwise a 5 star. Lost 2 whole stars because we asked for $70-$80 bottle of wine and was first brought a $280 bottle with a verbal introduction of "are you in the industry" We didn't answer question partly because it was an overtly rude ruse to get us to take the bottle that we were turned off from being happy with service the rest of the meal. We happened to be with our adult children so absolutely no problem turning it down. But ruse was so overt that would have laughed it off and refused it if we were in a business meeting. Additionally ordered the porterhouse for 2 at m/p. Just criminal that this perhaps being overly generous with my estimate (2lb steak)on our tab as $160.00. It was delicious. Not worth the price. If $90, okay. The Kamachi appetizer is now served with either 1/4 or 1/2 "button". We had 2 full orders for 4 of us. Last time, we were served a whole "button" per person. Very pretty presentation. In it's current form, just not the same visual punch. Our tab was $800 for the 4 of us. Although a very nice meal, we can't justify/figure out the bottom line. We didnt have this same impression during our last visit. Oh, we had one dessert.
Our experience was excellent all around. Everything was so thoughtfully done and well executed! Loved every bite, and the service was fantastic.
Delicious and inventive food. Celebrating my birthday day. Gave me a glass of champagne to begin and decorated birthday plate for my dessert. Just a wonderful evening. Would recommend and love to return on another visit to New York.
Phenomenal experience! We enjoyed the incredible food, service and fantastic sommelier whose advice we were so happy we followed. The highlights were the best ever Hamachi prep and the dessert special which was a crispy, light chocolate peanut butter doughnut both of which have been the subjects of conversations with anyone willing to listen since our dinner.
Absolutely a wonderful restaurant with exceptional service and great food. The chef is always approachable and open.
Wonderful creative food in a charming setting
The service was professional but still warm and friendly
For our anniversary we were not only treated to a a complimentary glass of champagne but a delightful handwritten note!
Truly above and beyond!
This place would have to be my favourite place in the world. It was better than eating dinner on the Eiffel Tower.
The staff was exceptional, our waiter assisted with making the experience even more special by suggesting certain foods and wine matching. Couldn’t recommend them more highly. Will always be a must when I come back to NYC
Great food, great ambience and nice extras for my birthday. Third but not last visit.
