What Insiders Are Saying
Marc Forgione is a good choice when you need a non-stuffy special occasion spot.
Incredible experience. Nailed my wife's birthday. Absolutely loved it.
Amazing birthday night. Service, food, and ambiance beyond words. Favorite place in the city.
Service was terrible and food was disappointing.
Great meal. Poor service.
We always love this eatery. It’s a go to place for us since we live in the neighborhood. It was our friend’s first time and they were in awe! Thanks for putting us our favorite table. Service was excellence as well.
We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. Everything is always spot on!
Wonderful service and the food is really amazing!!
New Years eve
We go a few times a year and EVERY time it is FANTASTIC. Such original ingredients!!
Amazing. AMAZING. I've been dining here since 2010 and there is always something new and incredibly delicious, with both the cuisine and the beverage program. The service is always top notch as well. But one of the best things is, it is not stuffy at all. High quality, high service, but very welcoming.
We love everything about Marc Forgione. The food is exceptional and the atmosphere warm, rustic and inviting. Service is attentive and friendly as well. The roast chicken is wonderful as is everything else we’ve ever had on the menu.
Celebrating the Holidays with my daughter who flew in from San Francisco. Toasted with Concord grape mimosias. YUM followed by chili lobster and chicken under a brick everything delicious!!!! Can’t wait for my next visit!
Excellent birthday celebration! We appreciate it.
Amazing food. Had the tasting menu. It was wonderful. Service was excellent. Everything was top notch.
Tuna tartare was a must to try!
Likely the most under-rated restaurant in NYC. Anyone who is local and knows this place likely loves it and raves about it. Most, however, do not - and that's a shame.
Chicken under a brick is a staple and a must order. Simple dish that will ruin you for chicken anywhere else forever. I believe it's an example of what a professional chef can do with a fairly simple dish - with quality ingredients and simple preparation. It's not something that's unattainable or made with a special ingredient. It's a simple dish that everyone can "TRY" to replicate at home, but will never get right. So much so, that Forgione actually gives the recipe out as a postcard.
My husband and I joined two other friends for a birthday dinner. When we arrived, there was a handwritten card on the table to the birthday celebrant. The service was phenomenal - top notch but never stuffy. The waitstaff were engaging and friendly, immediately attentive to any needs (such as multiple accidentally dropped napkins) without fuss or formality. The menu had a range of prices and if your goal were to minimize cost (which ours was definitely not) then you could manage to keep it reasonable. The food was generally well prepared and flavorful. Our only complaint was that the $47 truffled mac and cheese was dry and the noodles overcooked. If you are going to be audacious enough to charge $47 for mac and cheese, it had better be perfectly prepared. Otherwise, our dinner was blissful. We will certainly be back.
Excellent food and very attentive service. Highly recommend the chicken for two.
The restaurant is laid out nicely and has a homey rustic feeling. The food though was not as good as I expected. We ordered drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. The brick pressed chicken was tasty, but very oily and the gingerbread Mille Feuille was also tasty, but the gingerbread was undercooked and very doughy. The Asian pear cocktail was delicious.
The biggest issue I had is that that rushed out entire evening. It was not appreciated.
Delicious food and wonderful service!
Once again, a wonderful experience all around at Marc Forgione! The food, service and ambiance were fantastic as always. The s’mores dessert should really be illegal- it’s that good! The wait staff were gracious and attentive and we yet again had an all around fabulous experience. Definitely recommend for a nice dinner out.
Our dining experience at Marc Forgione was incredible. We chose this restaurant for our anniversary, and the staff made sure our dinner was special. They even wrote us a handwritten card wishing us a Happy Anniversary (along with a complimentary glass of champagne!). The food was outstanding, and the ambiance was warm, cozy, and romantic. Next time we are in NYC, we will definitely be back.
Excellent ambience food and customer service
Amazing spot. Never disappointed
Top 5 of all restaurant meals ever... whole trout. Extraordinary and simple. Bravo!
Still my favorite restaurant in TriBeCa. The chili lobster is and always will be my favorite.
Really good as always.
Been trying to get down to NYC to dine at Marc Forgione's for the last 6 months - wish I found this place 10 years ago! Absolutely the best overall restaurant for me in all of NYC! Could go on endlessly about our experience, but rather, simply - my all time NYC favorite.
Very friendly and attentive service. Lovely atmosphere and perfect for a chilly winter night.
This is always the best meal, it is so inspired and creative. The quality of the ingredients is above what you would find at most other restaurants. The cocktails are out of this world, the atmostphere is intimate and chic.
Absolutely amazing, one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the classics tasting.
Had been wanting to go here for a while and saw my opportunity when a visiting friend came to town (with his deep expense account in hand). The ambiance is great (dark and moody) and is better for date night and friendly conversation than turnt up big or loud groups. The overall service was great and the food was delicious.
I had the scallop app and stripped bass main and my friend had the chili lobster and pork chop main. My friend is a big health nut and could not begin to eat the pork which was over 50% fat. We sent that back and they quickly brought out a new one that was much more lean.
The reason I dinged them slightly on scoring is that for both the scallop and fish dish I thought the amount of protein on the plate was way below average. I don't mind spending a lot on food but if I am still hungry after an app and main that is unacceptable for me. Dessert shouldn't be required just to satiate my hunger.
I had heard a lot of great things about the restaurant and was very excited to finally eat there. My expectations were all met, the meal was great, the service was great, the vibe was great. Very happy!
GREAT meal. Food really was superb (a word I never use, but this meal was deserving). Atmosphere is fun and energetic. Service was good not great - they were busy and you could tell. Expensive but the food was special so you didn't feel bad paying it. GREAT spot.
Fantastic restaurant! The food is creative to the max, extremely delicious and refreshingly offbeat. The décor is rustic vibe themed and works perfectly with the cuisine. Our server was very attentive, knew the menu very well, and was a lot of fun. High on my list of favorites in NYC.
One of our all time favorites places. Food and service are consistently excellent.
We’ve never had a better experience at a restaurant. Servers were efficient and respectful. Food superb. Ambiance comfortable. We’ll be back.
Excellent service and the food was incredible. Also great wine list by the glass. Wonderful experience.
Booked for a romantic birthday - perfect evening!!
I’m a foodie, one of the best meals of the year. Everything was delicious - tuna tartar (must try), chicken for two (yes, get it) and yummy pumpkin donuts (crunch on outside and moist inside) with I think a vanilla-sage ice cream.
Service is on point with surprise b-day touches, great balance of being attentive and giving enough space/privacy.
