What Insiders Are Saying
Marc Forgione is a good choice when you need a non-stuffy special occasion spot.
Had been wanting to go here for a while and saw my opportunity when a visiting friend came to town (with his deep expense account in hand). The ambiance is great (dark and moody) and is better for date night and friendly conversation than turnt up big or loud groups. The overall service was great and the food was delicious.
I had the scallop app and stripped bass main and my friend had the chili lobster and pork chop main. My friend is a big health nut and could not begin to eat the pork which was over 50% fat. We sent that back and they quickly brought out a new one that was much more lean.
The reason I dinged them slightly on scoring is that for both the scallop and fish dish I thought the amount of protein on the plate was way below average. I don't mind spending a lot on food but if I am still hungry after an app and main that is unacceptable for me. Dessert shouldn't be required just to satiate my hunger.
I had heard a lot of great things about the restaurant and was very excited to finally eat there. My expectations were all met, the meal was great, the service was great, the vibe was great. Very happy!
GREAT meal. Food really was superb (a word I never use, but this meal was deserving). Atmosphere is fun and energetic. Service was good not great - they were busy and you could tell. Expensive but the food was special so you didn't feel bad paying it. GREAT spot.
Fantastic restaurant! The food is creative to the max, extremely delicious and refreshingly offbeat. The décor is rustic vibe themed and works perfectly with the cuisine. Our server was very attentive, knew the menu very well, and was a lot of fun. High on my list of favorites in NYC.
One of our all time favorites places. Food and service are consistently excellent.
Excellent service and the food was incredible. Also great wine list by the glass. Wonderful experience.
Booked for a romantic birthday - perfect evening!!
I’m a foodie, one of the best meals of the year. Everything was delicious - tuna tartar (must try), chicken for two (yes, get it) and yummy pumpkin donuts (crunch on outside and moist inside) with I think a vanilla-sage ice cream.
Service is on point with surprise b-day touches, great balance of being attentive and giving enough space/privacy.
Anniversary & proposal
You cannot go wrong hereto food, ambience and service all combine to make a PERFECT NIGHT! Trying the chicken here is a must. I think it is the best in NYC!
Food was good, but overpriced. The waiters seem to be rushing us out the door.
Let the restaurant know it was my husbands birthday and they greeted us with champagne on arrival to our table and a handwritten happy birthday card. Extremely thoughtful and lovely experience, on top of the already delicious food!
Absolutely incredible! We were celebrating birthdays for two of us, and the attention to detail was impressive. We received a handwritten birthday card, amuse bouche, a small pumpkin pastry dessert and a biscotti to go as well as a special birthday citrus shot with candles and singing. The appetizers and entrees were tasty as always. What a lovely evening! All the more reason why Marc Forgione is my favorite restaurant in the city!
My husband and I dined here for our anniversary and both agreed it was one of our favorite meals together. Order the kampachi to start - it is a flavor explosion in your mouth. We shared the porterhouse which came with a side of salad, sauerkraut, and roasted squash. It was perfectly cooked. The restaurant also does a sweet job in making the night feel special with a champagne toast to start, amuse bouche, and a little note. We want to come back at least once a month a now!
Best restaurant in nyc!
Delicious homemade pasta with with truffles - doesn’t get any better !!
This was an anniversary dinner, and there was an anniversary card waiting for us at the table, our waiter brought us champagne immediately, then we had a special note on our desert plate. Staff was very attentive, service was on point. Food, although portions are small, was also on point, the best meal I have had in New York City! The outside of the restaurant is nondescript, But extraordinarily and impeccably designed inside. Our gentleman Bartender was thoughtful enough to research a drink that I ordered that he had never heard of. He was able to quickly craft a well-balanced cocktail. Clearly the staff are well trained, and take pride in their work. The Chefs’ (Doug and Annie) attention to detail, ability to balance flavor and chemistry, and simple yet elegant presentation were impressive. Thank you for making this anniversary dinner special, one we will never forget. The experience far exceeded our expectations!!
Major disappointment. Service was incredibly slow and inattentive. I could see the kitchen was disorganized from my table. Portions were ridiculously small. The salad was inedible and the sushi was terrible. We were starving three hours later and had to order pizza.
The food was amazing. As always the chicken was extraordinary. Tonight the maestro himself, Marc Forgione came to our table and shaved some white truffles on the steaming hot chicken. Great dinner!
Delicious food and cocktails. Service was great and they were super accommodating for food allergies (down to bringing a separate amuse bouche and crackers so that I wouldn't miss out! Had the chicken under a brick. Even though it is one order meant for two, they split it up for us. Cooked it regular for my friend, and dairy free for me. The pear cocktail was also delish! Not too sweet. Will be back!
Phenomenal service the moment we stepped into the restaurant. There was a birthday card on the table for my girlfriend's birthday. Next, our server brought us bubbly on the house, wishing her a birthday. The entire journey we felt welcomed and like we were part of the family. Beyond the service, the food was incredible. The scallops were perfectly seared, with all the juicy goodness intact. The halibut was creamy and delicious. The veal was also perfectly cooked. Overall, service 10/10, food 10/10. Would recommend to anyone.
went here for our anniversary at the suggestion of my brother. greeted with complimentary glass of champagne and handwritten note saying thanks for spending your anniversary with us. they wrote it in chocolate on our dessert plates too! lol. food was absolutely delicious; the best broccoli rabe I've ever had (and as an Italian woman I've had a lot). just a really nice atmosphere, great wine list and a place I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal and beautiful space to dine.
We have been several times and was always great, but not this time. Appetizer was good (but not as described), but my seafood entree tasted like it was spoiled. Didn’t see our server the entire entree so didn’t have an opportunity to send back/replace until my date had completed his. So I didn’t get to eat. Disappointing for the price.
MF was recommended to me by a good friend. I expected a good meal, what I had... was literally life changing. From the first bite of the little bread bites, to the last bite of the donut of the day...it was beyond amazing. Our server was wonderful. Between us we had the scallops, ravioli, beef tenderloin and the halibut. Everything was delicious but the highlight was the Halibut. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Service was excellent and well versed in the preparation of all the dishes
I was impressed
Delicious, creative cuisine. Good presentation. Knowledgeable, attentive, pleasant service.
Food was great, food took forever to come out
Always absolutely excellent, try the tasting menu if you have time
It’s getting a little tired. We did the tasting menu for 2 on a Thursday night. $125 each. Service was ok but disjointed because it involves so many people. Portions are tiny and more creative than good. Wine list starts over $125 and most over $175.... really? Good room but just not worth $400 for 2 .
The staff is always amazing. On this special occasion they went all out for us.
Love this restaurant in every way!
This was our fourth time eating at Marc Forgione and it is fantastic every single time. The chicken is the best.
One of the best restaurant experiences you can have in NYC right now. Food is excellent, service is excellent, ambiance and environment inside is excellent.
My husband and I had an amazing dinner experience. We loved the surprise bites from the kitchen, it added excitement to our meal. Our entrees stood out and so did the after dinner dessert drink, Jameson soaked in bananas. We really enjoyed our special night out and will be back.
This occasion was to celebrate my wife birthday with our newborn 3 month year old. The wait staff was amazing from start to finish. We had the sample courses and it was fantastic. It was just the right amount of food with some great twists.
Great experience from beginning to coffee & dessert. Wait staff was above outstanding and very helpful.
We were so pleasantly surprised with this restaurant and menu. Every single bite we had was just so delicious. Staff was very attentive. My husband said that that the halibut was the best he has ever eaten (and he has tried many around the world!). Can't wait to go back there next time we are in NYC!
It was my second time dining at Marc Forgione and it was even better than the last time I came. Excellent service, atmosphere and of course the food is unbelievable. It is my favorite Tribeca spot.
Great atmosphere, excellent service that matched the excellent food and cocktails.
Chef/Ownet Marc Forgione actually came to our table to wish us a happy anniversary! He also made a special appetizer for us to sample and allowed us to take a picture with him!! He was extremely warm and friendly.
Our server, Page, was excellent!! Friendly, professional, and extremely caring.
Here’s one of the best meals we’ve ever had!
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The halibut is definitely the star. Next time will try the tasting menu. Service was well-timed and friendly.
So disappointed. My foodie friend gave this five stars... I’m thinking we went to two different restaurants. Really ... this deserves no more than two stars. The mezcal cocktail, which looked like a colorful club-med drink, was so watered down and boring. The food was either too spicy or flavorless. The lobster in the lobster chili was the only thing that was worthy of the reviews. Unfortunately the broth (chili?) was over spiced. My swordfish was smothered in a sauce, which was tasteless. The shrimp that garnished the fish were inedible. Both desserts we ordered were soooo sweet - after two bites - we were done.
To add insult to injury, we had a server that was either untrained or clueless. We ordered appetizers and cocktails and told him we wanted to wait to order our entrees. However he kept coming back to our table insisting we order our entrees... our appetizers hadn’t even arrived. After telling him we were not ready to order and we were in no rush, he continued to badger us for our order and returning to our table to pick up random scraps of paper on the table.
Lots of money and calories wasted. With so many awesome restaurants in NYC ... skip this one.
