High tea in the Marble Garden/courtyard.
I will begin by saying it was absolutely beautiful, and everyone was in high spirits.
When the food did arrive (what I was able to taste) was delicious.
The tea selection was nicely curated.
Despite making my reservation over a month in advance for a specific area. Our initial table was moved indoors “due to high demand and booking. The Marble Harden was not available and guests were already seated”. After voicing my discontent (as I had called several time to verify seating arrangement and several more to try to add to our party... I could only reach a person 1/2 of the time when calling) our seating was moved to the proper area as reserved. Interestingly enough, there was no one else seated in the Marble Garden/courtyard ar the surrounding tables for the first two hours we were there.
Secondly, when the food did arrive only two tiered serving trays were provided, meaning that each person was unable to taste one of each item (we had a party of six).
Third it took over an hour to get tea refills, our sever kept forgetting to return with the tea box, a second server brought a tea box but lost the labels.
Fourth, while still waiting for our tea, the server dropped an entire tray of four water glasses on two of our guests and all over the table.
It was in no way worth the money. Despite the beautiful atmosphere.
If you are simply wanting a pretty experience, this is your spot. But if you are looking for excellence, I would recommend doing further research. I would recommend a restaurant with more communication and proper proportion sizes to the number of paying guests and.
The food was exceptional. We truly enjoyed the food, the tea, and the table. Where it fell short was the service. I had the reservation on Open Table for a month, and even called The Mansion to confirm details as it was for my sister the day before her wedding. Upon arrival, the table was not ready, and everyone seemed a little confused. We had 4 people, and there were 3-5 tables sitting for the whole nearly 2hrs we were there. It took 30 minutes to have anyone speak to us about being served or choosing a tea, and we had to run someone down to ask. It was 45 minutes before any tea, an hour before we had any food, and 75 minutes before the tea tray. We had other appointments following tea so we had to shovel the food down to get out on time. We would have left, but we were worried about parking and getting in at another restaurant. We did have one guest that was a pescatarian, and was brought a bacon adorned dish anyways after informing of her dietary restrictions twice. After that, the tea tray that came out was altered to exclude everything but salmon/vegetarian sandwiches, which was perfect. The server was very nice, respectful, and continually apologized for the time, but I expect more than this from The Mansion. We will consider giving it one more shot in the future, because the food was wonderful, and every place and person can have an off day.
We tried out their "English High Tea" service and it was fantastic. Our server, Gabby, was amazing and very attentive. Came round to check on us with the right frequency so we could enjoy our meal without being frequently disrupted or neglected.
The teas were delicious and the foods to go along with them just as yummy. Would definitely recommend.
