Split a tomahawk for 2. Problem with that, I like Med and husband likes MR. Told the waiter and the chef cooked it perfectly to please both of us!!! Wine prices silly for a bottle. $60 start. Could have offered some $40 or $45
Waited slightly for a seat because there was no hostess on post. One man band entertainer was a bonus and livened it up! Loved mini tacos too!
We waited at the hostess stand for 5-10 minutes. When the waitress came to take our drink orders, there were five of us at the table, but she only asked four people for their order. When the food came, four orders came out together, but the fifth order didn't come out until everyone else was done eating. The check was wrong when we received it. They did make the adjustments after it was pointed out. The waitress apologized for the slow service saying they were unusually busy. There were 7 tables of 2 or 3 people and our table of 5, in various stages of dinner. This was my first time here, so maybe 8 tables is alot for them. The food, however, was outstanding. The weight of the steaks are listed on the menu, so portion size is not a surprise. The sides are enough for 2 people. It was quiet, the tables were pretty with just enough light to read your menus. The tables are spaced so that you are not sitting on top of the table next to you. Overall, a nice restaurant. If the service was as good as the food, I would have given it 5 stars.
They were short staffed the night we went & apologized with a discount. May try again.
There was music which was nice, the food was great, and the service was outstanding!
The worst rack of lamb EVER! It was shoulder lamb with gravy & onions-disgusting! Service was lacking too!
We ate at this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday evening at 5 pm. We were the only couple in restaurant as it opened at 5 pm. Despite being the only people in the restaurant it took over 1 hour to bring our dinner to the table. The waiter apologized a few times but never made any type of complimentary offering to make up for the unacceptably slow service. I can't imagine what the wait would have been if there were other customers. The steaks were very good.
Went on a Friday night and used a Groupon, which was a great deal. Food was great, service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back.
The restaurant was empty. Maybe 3 tables with people at the time. Waited 10-15 minutes before a hostess greeted us. The food was awful, especially the dressing on the wedge. The strip steak was chewy.
Went on a Sat. Nite with open table reservation. No hostess was there and they didn’t understand open table . Waitress gave us a lunch menu but it was 6:30pm and we wanted dinner. There were only a few waiters and I think they were overwhelmed. I ordered filet mignon and lobster medium and it came out well done. No pink inside at all. When the manager walked around he took it off the bill. The creamed spinach was good. This is nothing like the old Strip House and I think it needs serious improvement.
Service was horrible. Food just ok. Dessert, cheesecake, was delicious
The service was off from the start. Arriving for a reservation and had to wait 10 minutes for someone to show up to the hostess desk to seat us. One waitress for the restaurant - not full but 5 tables and one was large. The people at the bar were very loud and you could hear ever word as no real wall separates the bar area. We didn’t get all the food we ordered (forgot a requested salad), a medium rare lamb chop dish tasted like boiled lamb mush, the (minced) crab cake was awful, and we got a completely different dessert than one that was ordered, which when we inquired about why, we learned they didn’t have anymore so they just game us something that wasn’t even on the menu. And the gentleman who served our food thought it appropriate to reach across us to serve food to the other side of the table to save himself the trouble of walking around. All in all, it was lacking and I will not be back. Ever. Miss when this restaurant was a Strip House.
The service is lacking. Don't allow them to seat you at a table on a bench under the windows. The bench seats sag so that you're about 8 inches too low.
We ordered the 48 oz tomahawk ribeye. Didn't get much more edible steak than if we'd ordered a 16 oz boneless steak.
French fries were soggy.
Waitress asked if we wanted wine with dinner. Left menu never returned to take drink order.
We went later in the night and the restaurant was quite and well presented. The bar was loud and interfering. The appetizers were not great -not bad, just nothing special in those Tuna Tar-tacos, but we ordered the Tomahawk and it was amazing! Service was also very good, helpful. The NY Cheesecake was also fabulous! And so big we couldn’t finish 1 between the 2 of us.
It was holiday weekend so very quiet. Food was good, drinks excellent. We went with a Groupon which made this a great deal. Service vet good, but place empty would return.
We’ve been to marble and moxie several times. We always enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the service. We will be back.
Was there on a Tuesday and service was great. Very attentive staff. Steak was great.
It was so wonderful in every thing you wish , specially when you are with family.
Food was great. Loved the 48oz. Tomahawk strak
food was good...waitress outstanding...pleasant experience
Great food (pasta with shrimp dish/lobster mac/filet mignon and lobster (all delicious)
Considerate and thoughtful staff
Some furniture in need of an update
They seemed to be understaffed and the taste and quality of the dishes had declined since my last visit some months ago. I chose to eat here on Fathers Days as a special treat for my family, but I don't think we will return I am sad to say.
The food was good but the crowd at the bar was loud (not typical) and the service was horrible. There was 1 waitress for 7 tables and only 1 bus staff. No one was well trained. We ordered a bottle of wine; the manager spilled the wine all over the table twice. Chef is great, waitstaff terrible. Very slow service.
This was our 2nd time back in the month. It was very good. I enjoyed shrimp cocktail, steak, lobster and broccoli. The service was great. Only thing lacking is good lighting. I feel this restaurant is too bright and spotlighty for a Saturday night. Other than that, no complaints!
After reading other reviews I went here with low expectations (with convenience necessitating eating here). They were certainly met. The good news is that their appears to be a new manager. I know this because he dealt with an issue at an adjoining table. The bad news is that the over-all quality of the food appears to have deteriorated (our tomahawk rib eye for two had a high percentage of gristle). Diners are grouped closely together to make it easier for the two servers. The old Strip House's louche ambiance has disappeared into hard-edged modern decor with even the circular booths appearing more like lonely satellites than cozy places to canoodle. If the food was better the limited menu wouldn't be so off-putting (three types of potatoes but no mushroom sides?) and the wine list is designed for expense accounts not regular folk. Desserts from the local restaurant supply store. And the service? I am a huge fan of women servers in steak houses (though I'm not certain this place deserves that label). The two ladies in question (assisted by exactly one other) appear to be trying to make the best of a bad situation. I wish them luck.
Food was great
I went Saturday night with a bunch of friends who live in Short Hills and Livingston. I consider us all foodies. I wanted to try this place despite some reviews.
We were 5 couples and the manager put us in a private room which was nice. The waiter/ waitress was very attentive to our needs.
I ordered the shrimp cocktail, filet mignon, baked Potato and asparagus. The food was excellent. My friends ordered salads, fish and other veggies. They were all very happy too.
The drinks were creative and good
We didn't have dessert but I'm sure that would've been good too!
The only thing I think this restaurant needs is better lighting. It is a bright atmosphere and on Saturday nights, I like more dim to set the mood
I'll be back!
While the food was very good, service was not. Restaurant was barely active so no real reason for poor service. Bar is nice, would go back for drinks.
Very disappointed. We ordered the Colorado rack of lamb and crab cake entree with cream spinach. The lamb was good but VERY fatty, especially for a $46 price tag. The crab cakes were loaded with large pieces of crab but completely flavorless. The cream spinach was very good. Room was empty which is indicative of how the restaurant is doing. Felt badly for our waitress who had responsibility for the entire room which clearly affected her attentiveness: she didn’t ask how we wanted the lamb chops prepared, didn’t offer ground pepper and brought the check without a pen. Minor, but annoying oversights. The manager seems to be doing only the barest minimum of walking through the dining room and asking “how’s your food taste” a few times. Definitely not worth the price which is a shame. We had missed the Strip House and were looking forward to the new and improved. M&M is just “meh.”
I thought the food & ambience were wonderful! We went for a birthday celebration.....it was very quiet which we liked so we were able to talk to each other not over each other. Highly recommend!
Hostess was off putting -spent time socializing with friends rather than standing at her area
Bartender made sure to let his customers know how inexperienced he was and how many times the management had changed over in the past six months.
Manager/owner (not sure) sat at the bar talking shop with his computer open. Didn’t look up Or acknowledge his customers. A couple came in that he went to high school with and he proceeded to spend the night talking with them and ignoring everything else that was going on around him. Didn’t go unnoticed.
The chef did his job well. Tomahawk steak was delicious!
Server was very attentive.
Unfortunately, we miss the strip house! It’s not the same experience at all. Sad for them. Won’t be going back.
Have been to this restaurant under previous ownership when it was excellent. Being a Thursday it was not very - just as well.
The appetizers were good although I had the tuna tartare which was barely three mouthfuls, it was good but tiny. The server then poured the red wine to taste into a dirty glass..... and then on the table..... When the steaks came they did not bring any steak knives. When I asked for three they came with the only two they could find ! Not impressive for a less than half full steak house..... The manager came and apologized but did not offer anything....
Having said that the food was excellent.....
I think they will get their act together but they need some help !
Good (not great) food, horrendous service.
The steak was very tough hard to cut l told the manager it was good there were people around l am a person that does not make a seen
Really was surprised by this place! It seems a little off the radar and there are not many reviews of it. It is somewhat new. The steak was delicious, best I've had in NJ. Actually much better steak than was served when it was The Strip House or that we've had at Ruth's Chris or Roots. Appetizers were good too, only complaint was baked potato which tasted pre-cooked. The atmosphere is very nice and service was good, but this place better do some advertising or the word will not get out! Will definitely go back!!
I usually never write reviews , however the food at Matble and Moxie was so disappointing I was compelled to do so. I started with a chopped salad that was nothing more than iceberg lettuce with a few small pieces of avocado and very little else. The steak was fine, and it was cooked well. However the creamed spinach with truffle had no taste needed salt and was an extremely small portion. There wasn’t even a hint of truffle The asparagus also needed salt and there were literally only 5 thick stalks. The crab macaroni and cheese cheese was a strange combination and also lacked salt. The end of our meal we had the special dessert which was an enormous piece of dry stale chocolate layer cake. The entire meal was disappointing from beginning to end and I would be very surprised if this restaurant is here 6 months from now.
Total disappointment... Bartender attended to us as we sat in the bar area, appetizers were totally tasteless, and the manager walked by us without even breaking stride, he needed to go watch the football game....
I took my husband here for his 40th Birthday. It was the perfect special occasion/date place.
The steak was great, also a lot of great non-steak options for me (I don’t eat red meat). The staff was really friendly, knowledge, and really made the evening special.
I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was empty - which is too bad because the food was very good and cooked exactly the way we asked. The menu is limited, not enough choices of side dishes, but overall, a very good meal
Amazing. Food was excellent. Will definitely be back.
All 3 of use ordered the NY strip steak, it was tender but bland. No flavor at all. Tuna tar tar was ok but the portion was very small. It was served in little cones, which was odd. Sides were asparagus and fries, both were very good. We had creme brulee for dessert and it was not crispy on the top but the flavor was good.
