Made reservations for Father’s Day. Only down side was wait was 40+ mins with a reservation but probably because it was Father’s Day. Restaurant compensated by giving everyone who was waiting champagne so that was nice. Server was awesome and attentive. She came to speak with us several times and was very friendly. The food was great.
Ruined our Father’s Day.... While we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time, everything else moved in slow motion. Over 45 minutes from when we ordered to food arriving... Just not okay. Though I’m always conscious of large parties on a holiday, our experience for a party of four was awful. The same manager in a whale shirt kept figure-eighting around the restaurant, not once did he notice that we’d been sitting there for forever with no food. My husband had to get up and talk to the hostess before anyone even acknowledged us. Another manager came and comped our drinks. Our waitress didn’t even check on us... Just horrible. So bummed after making our reservation a month in advance in the hopes of a relaxing lunch in a small-format restaurant. Instead, a disappointment.
Patina, you can do better.
We were greeted with a smile so that’s a plus...our server was super friendly and nice...we were seated outside where it was actually warm because of the
The only thing that would have been nice is a view of the gardens. Our waitress was very attentive but the others, bus boy and other would only ask if one person wanted coffee and ignore the other and same with bussing the table.
Our server was nice, but a little mentally checked-out. The food is good, but it a tad pricey. The servers and staff don't seem happy - and this is based on our observation of sitting near the bend where food is brought from the kitchen. Things we loved are the décor, chai latte and the bacon.
I went with a large party of 12 and 3 toddlers.. they were so incredibly accommodating with our requests of seating. They also brought out the kiddos food first, which was making, bc we got to feed them, until our food arrived. The food was good. I highly recommend this place!! I didn’t get his name but a gentleman kept checking on us to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Also offered to take a group photo of us outside! Will def be back!
This is our third time at Maple and the food and experience is OUTSTANDING. I want to give a special shout out to servers, Tony, Jamie, and Huyen. They are warm, welcoming, and the ultimate in hospitality. Truly, going to Maple is a joy. It's the perfect, intimate and elevated brunch experience.
Had the best toast ever. The mixed berry toast with the cashew cream cheese was the best find. Please go to just order that! Also, the service was excellent all around.
Very friendly staff
Three of us had brunch here yesterday and the food and service were fantastic. It was planned so that we could spend time walking Descanso Gardens where MAPLE is located, and it was a fun and fruitful day! We ordered the fried chicken and kudos to Uriah and Anthony and the welcome staff for their help. This is another PATINA win!
Always great food, this was my 4th time going back. I wish they were open during the week. Very cozy and nice place.
Service was fantastic - everyone very nice and attentive. Frittata was under seasoned and the chipotle/carrot hollandaise was more of a decorative element than a discernible sauce adding to the dish. Husband enjoyed the bright Bloody Mary.
I ordered the chicken and beignets for brunch and was very impressed! Presentation and taste were excellent. It was a really nice beginning to our day at Descanso Gardens. It set the mood for a relaxing and enjoyable day, thank you!
We made a reservation at Maple for a special day out. We arrived a few minutes early and let the hostess know. We waited and waited and watched patrons WITHOUT reservations being seated before us. When questioned we were told that reservations were seated in order of arrival. When asked why patrons without reservations were being seated before us they responded that was their policy. (Makes no sense, right?).
We were then seated at the worst table... by the waitstaffs area.
Food looked beautiful but was very poor quality overall. Presentation was exquisite but the food was tasteless. The frittata had no flavor whatsoever; totally bland. The berry toast was ordered to share and the bread was so hard it could not be cut with a knife. The ciabatta sandwich was also tasteless and the slab of thick bacon that was on it was so hard and tough it could not be eaten. We were incredibly disappointed.
One of the guests seated at the table next to us sent her food back and told the waitress it was inedible. She declined to order a replacement.
The champagne brunch was excellent. A wonderful place to meet with family and friends.
Maple is a fantastic brunch place. We visit the gardens all the time but had never stopped into the restaurant until last Sunday. We brought friends from out of town and we all loved it. The food is SO good and great service! Can’t wait to return!
This is the second time we've had brunch at Maple. The first was an hour wait, in cold rainy weather, and then the food was delivered cold. The management was kind, adjusted the bill, and encouragedus to return. Which we did - yesterday. Knowing that rainy weather cuts the reserved seating capacity in half and that the restaurant overbooks and does not let diners know, we arrived 30 minutes before our reservation. Unfortunately, we had the same experience with the food. It was COLD! AND the coffee was cold. As wonderful as the management was, we will not be back. Really disappointing.
The food was unique, beautifully presented, and delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. I went with 4 adults and 2 children and everyone enjoyed their meals.
My husband and son took me to Maple for a late Mother's Day brunch. It was a perfect day to sit outside on Maple's lovely patio. We ordered the vegan hash, and our son ordered the breakfast burrito and beignets. Everything was delicious. Our server, Jessica, was attentive and friendly. We will be back.
Love the food and the atmosphere. Five stars. A little noisy in the restaurant but the enclosed patio was a perfect place to dine.
Great location and food was terrific, although I don’t think they had planned on the crowd as they ran out of a lot of things. I ordered the Asparagus Tagliatelle but they must have run out of asparagus because it came with sugar snap peas and the server did not explain why. To be fair, there were two small pieces of asparagus but I had to hunt for them.
Previously wrote a review, bu interesting, it doesn't appear on your site. Was very disappointed. Waited about 15-20 minutes before any server even acknowledged us ... servers came and went! Wasn't busy - reservation was at 1:45 on Friday! Ordered specialty drink from menu ... was told they did not have ingredients for specialty cocktails on menu! Odd,cuz kiosk on patio was making same drinks! We mentioned that to server, then asked if we could get drinks from the kiosk. We were able to and bring in ourselces, butvwith management approval ... same drinks on menu from only food/drink provider at gardens?? Food was good, but really nothing up to old Patina standards since under newer management. Service and professional standards definitely lacking. Very disappointing, cuz not just here ... Kendalls, Cafe Pinot too. I would refer to friend for brunch ... last server st brunch was grest! So will give it another shot, but not holding my beeath!
Food was delicious and presentation was lovely. Our server was great and helpful with suggestions. I think it is a hidden gem.
I had the pleasure of dining at Maple on six occasions during the running of the Pasadena Showcase House. Each time there were six of us except for the last date when there were only three of us. I must say that all my guests loved their food, especially the salmon bowl and the shrimp and farro salad. The beignets were so yummy! The manager George was attentive, assured seamless experiences each time and handled my reservation changes efficiently. The hostess Jasmine was wonderful and very helpful. The servers were friendly and quick considering the number of diners present on each occasion.
Lovely outdoor terrace but no view of gardens. Excellent service. Just wish it was open year round... This was special for the Pasadena Showcase House of Design.
We had asked for their signature Chicken dish but they were all out. When we received the kids cheeseburger it did not have any cheese and looked like a burnt piece of meat. The service was not good and the staff looked checked out.
It was delightful. Even with a stroller & baby in tow on Mother’s Day they came through with amazing service and food. We went for all the lobster specials our waiter told us about. Loved every bite.
Maple is a wonderful way to top off a day at Descanso Gardens or hiking in the foothills near LaCanada/Flintridge. Unique dishes and warm, authentic service. We’ll be back!
Maple restaurant is located in front of the beautiful Descanso Gardens. My husband and I have eaten here twice and both times we have been disappointed with the food. Both times we ate at Maple were busy- Mother’s Day and during Enchanted. Mother’s Day was just beautiful and the warm air in the restaurant felt lovely. The food looked so good, but we were all disappointed with our meals- eggs benedict, lobster roll and veggie frittata. My son was pleased with the salad that accompanied his eggs. The ambiance and service were fine. We so want the food to be good and eat here after walking the garden,
Took mom for Mother’s Day. Service was helpful and pleasant and the room was not too noisy. Food was good, especially the beignets, avocado toast, and lobster roll.
Great surroundings. They have a really nice menu and the food was delicious. We had two bad tables and they accommodated us each time we had to change.
Beautiful presentation, but utterly bland food. I really wanted to love it there -- as I love Descanso Gardens and tend to like Patina restaurants. And indeed, the food LOOKED gorgeous. But it tasted like nothing. The lobster avocado toast was not on toast, but on bread, which was soft and hard to cut. Even the caviar garnish was tasteless. Disappointing.
We strolled the gardens for a couple of hours and then had brunch. The menu items were creative and quite varied. We did a lot of sharing with each other. Our server, Wen, was delightful, attentive and energetic. I would definitely come back to Maple!
Good food, good service! What else can you ask for?
The restaurant was very busy and so service was a bit slow but food quality was good with a nice variety of choices.
Lovely food but service could have been much better. Server provided bill without asking if we would like dessert or coffee - said in a sarcastic voice, am I rushing you now when she circled back after we wanted a few more minutes to review the menu - and handed us dessert silverware haphazardly after she had already come back to bring us the crepe chantilly that had been left off the dessert plate. Her attitude brought down the meal and enjoyment of some great food!
This was a day date that I planned. The restaurant did not disappoint. Went for brunch and will go again. Food is so good. Didn’t have drinks but they have a mimosa bar and you can customize your mimosa.
This is the second time I have been to Maple, both due to special events at Descanso Gardens. I wish they were open more often because it would be a great place for lunch during the week, and not just brunch for the weekends. The food is delicious, and the ambiance is simple but pleasant.
Ordered Cobb salad. The bowl was so small and the lettuce uncut and jammed in to the point that there was absolutely no way to eat it without having it fall all over the table. A few pieces of twisted discolored chicken and a nice hard boiled egg. That was it. For $20.00. What a joke! The waitress was very nice and somewhat attentive.
The gardens were lovely and the food was delicious. We recommend the fried chicken and beignets. Wonderful!
