Not impressed with the food. Service slow. Food cold when it arrived at the table. Had to constantly look for a server for coffee and mimosas.
It was my first time at this restaurant. The service is amazing. For the sex on. I like the atmosphere there. Definitely, we're going to come back.
Service was terrible. Made a reservation and they were backed up...which is totally understandable but being seated and waiting 25 minutes until we caught someone to come over to take an order was unacceptable.
They didn’t honor our reservation. We left.
We loved having such a wonderful place to eat lunch with friends who were in town. My only negative is the brioche for our eggs benedict was toasted or left out where it became dry, but the eggs themselves were delishious, and so were all the other meals. The Chicken and beniets (sp?) were enough for two people to share. Can't wait to go back and try something else.
This place is just a lovely gem - then you get to walk through those gardens!
Highly recommend, food and service were great! Ambience is wonderful with the gardens there and the restaurant is tastefully appointed.
We had scheduled this restaurant for our anniversary. This restaurant is located at Descanso Gardens. Being Easter, the Gardens was very busy and we were glad to have a reservation. The service and meal were very good. We were seated in the outdoor area with a large umbrella over us and the feel was that of dining in your own back yard with the shade, plants and a brick wall. Our server covered the specials for that day and we both ordered the special fritatta with ham, cheese, different squashes and radishes served in the two handled cast iron cooking utensil. We really enjoyed the day and would return to the Maple again but go on a day when the Gardens would have been less crowded so we could visit them.
The food was delicious, esp. what wound up being the best gazpacho that I have ever had and the service was even better.
Very friendly service, delicious local food and creative variations on traditional dishes.
Great restaurant at the Descanso Gardens - the avocado toast was amazing as was bottomless mimosas at brunch. Worth the visit and would dine again. Breakfast burrito was great and the fried chicken and beignets was fantastic!
It was our second time going to Maple. The 1st time last year was extraordinary, we met with the French manager at that time, very good ambiance, food. The cherry on the top for us (my mom and I) we had a table outside, it was a great warm sunny sunday, WE LOVED IT!
This year we were inside. Not our favorite, too much noise for a peaceful sunday lunch like we like, but we had some mixed-up in the reservation so we didn't complain. However that day was a tremendous mess in the kitchen apparently. We were served the latest, a little bit over 1 hour after we were seated and after people arrived later than us. We were still in a great mood, because we had no rush or appointment and this time the cherry on the top was our waitress Jessica. She has been an adorable and very patient helpful person. Always making sure everything was fine and taking care of us while waiting forever the food. We left after a great meal and were more than pleased by Jessica and her service in this chaotic day for Maple :).
We will come back ! Thank you Jessica.
Food good slow service. Only sit down Cafe at Descansco Gardens
It took quit a long time to get seated even though we had reservations. Our food was very slow to be delivered. Once it arrived it was very good. The inside of the restaurant was very noisy and we asked for an outside table which was available.
Service was excellent, everyone was super attentive and very friendly. We ordered the breakfast burrito and beignets. Both were super delicious. We were also surprised when they brought over a nice variety of toast before our meal arrived. They were a little pricey for the mimosas but good overall.
I have been for dinner and it was really good
We will for sure go back for breakfast. When reserving. Specify inside or out. Only outside was available and it was chilly. We loved it. Walk around Descanso Gardens before or after!
The server was nice but the service much too slow.. We earned so long for him to take our order, receive our order, and for the check.
Must too pricey for that kind of service. We wished we had dined at the cafe.
Expected much nicer restaurant. Decor felt cheap... just a big room with fold up tables and lack of forced air heat, so it was a little cold Food was presented nicely BUT it was cold... we returned it all and had to wait for it to be done again. Don't think we'll go again.
Eggs were over cooked. Potatoes were under cooked. Hot tea was Luke warm.
The only thing that disappointed me was they changed the menu from last time I was there. The eggs benedict had sweet potato and it was delicious, but they don't have it anymore. The bread pudding was to die for. The chicken and waffles were so good. I definitely will come back, and especially where it is located. Before entry into Descanso gardens you can enjoy a really tasty breakfast or lunch. They close at 2 which I also like. It is great to plan with your family on a Sunday.
Great food. Fried chicken was amazing. Bread and house made jam was great. Service was good and friendly.
Food prep was a little leisurely so you can’t be in a hurry.
The only downside was the noise level. There is no sound baffling.
Also double check the prices on your bill. They apparently recently raised prices on a few things but have not updated the menu prices. So insist they charge the menu price.
Overall a good experience. I tipped well and would visit again as long as the everyone in my group can hear well.
My bf and I both had the fried chicken and beignets (sp?) and they were awesome! The portions are insane! Personally, we could have shared one plate and ordered a side beignets because each plate came with 4 healthy pieces of chicken. We were both only able to eat two pieces of chicken, so if you don't have a big appetite, I definitely suggest sharing the plate and getting the side order. I gotta say also, the jam with the bread service was ON. POINT. So good. Our waiter seemed a little distracted but it was busy so service was a tad slow. Not enough to deter me from coming back though. Definitely check it out!
Service was slow
Very accommodating and friendly service! MKe sure to make a brunch reservation 1-2 weeks in advance. Menu was tasty! Francisco and host with French accent were great!
Very noisy inside so we moved outside. Our luck a speaker was blaring music. Difficult situation for people with hearing problem. Or wanting to converse.
Yummy food. Great waiter! Nice to be able to walk the garden after our meal.
No grapefruit juice. Good was not hot. Presentation nice and combination on avocado toast a nice change. Will return and try again
Descanso Gardens is a special place to visit and walk, and we went to hear a talk by a Cycad expert with friends. We thought it would be nice to have lunch near or in the gardens. The adorable and quaint Montrose is only 5 min away, but we thought it would be nice to sit down right after the tour and walk of the gardens.
The Menu was very limited, mostly breakfast dishes. Almost nothing for Veggitarian and Vegans. I actually joked or thought that a horticulture center would be a meat / paleo because they don't want people to eat plants since they celebrate plants. But it almost felt that way. Only one salad choice, otherwise everything is meat or egg based.
The food was very tasty, as it is run by Patina Restaurant.
The staff was very helpful, sitting down our group that grew from 4 to 8. The hostess was great.
The waiter was very nice, and did his best, but was not very effective in his service. Several items came out late, and were missing items.
Given how beautiful the gardens are, I expected the restaurant to be in a nicer atmosphere. How do you take a garden facility, and hide the restaurant in side next to a parking lot.
We sat in the outdoor patio, which is near the parking lot. It was nice outside, but not speical. I didn't even see the inside.
Food was good, but not fantastic.
I would go back again, but I might prefer to visit the village of Montrose. It is a cute few blocks, etc.
Prices were not overly expensive for a captive audience, but it is not a bargain.
Parking is free. Bathrooms are near by the restaurant.
Great place but we felt a bit rushed - We get the Mimosa bar and which was unlimited drinks but no one came to refill? The food was great, unique in preparation. we had (8) in our group and everyone enjoyed there meal. Love the bread pudding.
I was here for brunch with a friend, and neither one of us had ever been there. Although had a reservation, upon checking in, my friend was told that there was only 1 patio table available at that time! Wasn't even given an option. We were given the worst table possible! No heater and it was cold!
I went off yelp reviews for their chicken and beignets dish, and my friend had the brisket burrito. The chicken was breaded and crispy on outside, tasted citrucy and looked undercooked from inside. Not what I expected! Couldn't eat it. The beignets were dry! Coffee was leukwarm . I asked for bottomless mimosas and literally stopped getting refills after second glass! My friend had to place empty glasses on edge of table to get a third one. I had to ask for a coffee a couple times before finally getting one! Same scenario happened with refill! After a while, I noticed the waiter became a bit rude and when he came back to refill my coffee and mimosa... literally, just slammed the flute on the edge of the table. Refilled the cup of coffee, where I had left a couple chicken bones and pieces of chicken I couldn't eat (not edible). Not once he offered to replace cup with a clean one! I honestly would've gotten better service at a Dennys than this restaurant. I noticed someone in the restaurant who wasn't serving tables went around a few tables checking on to see how everything was on multiple ocasiones.... not once did that person check with us at our table. Our waiter did it only once right after bringing out the food....and never did it again! Honestly, the service I received at this restaurant by this server was by far the worst I've ever had! The food was the worst I've ever had ...... I shouldn't even have tipped the waiter, but I realize he is not the cook, and I honestly just felt bad about walking away without leaving any gratuity... so I still left something. But my tip definitively reflected his level of service. Never again will I return there!!!
I always have a great time when I go here, but I do wish the food were a little better! Menu looks appealing enough (though they could use more vegetarian options and more greens), but nothing arrived terribly hot! Sent coffee back twice, finally changed order to americano to ensure it would be warm enough. All griping aside, staff is super-nice and very accommodating. We had a great time and would definitely return and recommend.
Very kind staff, but the service for a Sunday brunch was intolerably slow. Coffees were a disaster. A cold brew arrived late, one hot coffee arrived cold and another one had a lipstick stain on the cup.
My Huevos Rancheros (vegetarian style with avo and tomato sub for meat) was excellent.
My partner had the Maple Benedict with Ham and felt it was too sweet for her taste, and her dish wasn't hot enough when brought to the table.
Latte was delicious...
Our Server (male) was excellent.
great setting at the lovely Dicanso Gardens, Serving comfort food at very comfortable patio. delisheious brunch , good food selection on simple menu, friendly service and fun location.
The listed prix fix $ on the Descanso website was $75 each. They actually charged us $85 !!!!! Not sure why. Very unhappy with that. It was already $$ at $75. The good was very good but only a couple of dishes were exceptional. The doors were all open so it was a bit chilly too. Servers were very sweet
I was underwhelmed with the Valentine's Day pre fixe dinner, for the price. I've eaten there many times but the last few times, since the new chef has come on board, I've been disappointed with the food. Ambiance and service were on point, as always.
I really love Maple’s once a month dinner. My first was February but it won’t be my last!
Great special occasion
Maple is a charming restaurant and the staff worked hard to be accommodating, even when my disabled husband had complaints about the brightness at our table and we asked to move after already being seated. We enjoyed the Sunday morning brunch and the ambiance, and will recommend this location to others. It was a lovely way to start our visit to the park.
Service was very slow, food selection was very limited, and the taste was not that great.
