It was Sunday night and because of the COVID-19 scare hardly any other diners were there, so we had this wonderful restaurant to ourselves. Our waiter was very helpful, thoughtful, and efficient. We all shared a lot of apps. and had our drinks refilled quickly. Great service, great ambiance, great food!
Love the food and variety of the menu items
great happy hour specials
great for an intimate or large group setting
We had guests in from New Jersey and wanted to treat them to Mexican food. The service was good. The chips were not fresh. The food was good but not great
The food was excellent my only complaint was the margaritas were tiny for the price
I've been dining at Manuel's since the 80s and the food has been consistently amazing!!! I can't recommend enough. Both the mole and adobado sauce arre sublime!!!
Wonderful service. Wonderful food.
Very enjoyable dinner
Our preferred table for our early dinner was in a section that was closed until 5.30 so we had drinks at the bar first - although they were able to open the section very quickly for us.
We enjoyed happy hour cocktails and nibbles at the bar with excellent service by Christy, then we went through for a leisurely dinner.
Jackie our server was excellent - very friendly, patient and thorough.
A couple of items served weren’t piping hot and she happily returned them quickly for us.
Delicious flavors all round.
We had an excellent lunch and delicious margaritas here at the recommendation of a local friend. So good I have already recommended it to other friends. Yum!
Fantastic guacamole and ceviche!!!
Food was ok. Drinks were also just ok. The restaurant has a bad smell, like sewage? or spilled drinks on carpet that has never been cleaned. Overall impression was just ok. There are far better places. Even our drinks in our hotel were better than the drinks at Manuel’s.
This was a fantastic choice for a Valentine’s Day dinner. The booth was very cozy and the food was amazing
Great food and service, prices not unreasonably high given location and quality.
Service was great, place is nice however the food was poor. Mole was ok, I make mole and expect a restaurant to be better than mine. Fajitas were almost like boiled skirt steak no char very disappointing my wife didn't finish and left the remainder. We left very disappointed being that we're needed reservations and it was Valentine's day.
There were two vegetarians at our table and they really appreciated the interesting and varied choices of Mexican dishes that are usually just cheese or some meat option. The black beans that came with the mushroom enchiladas and many other of the dishes were truly excellent. The chips were just alright and the salsa that came with the chips was good although there were two bowls served and no explanation for how they differed. We weren't sure that they did differ but it would have been nice to know. I had a mango daiquiri which was reasonably priced and very tasty! This place was great for larger groups but fine for our smaller table too. Highly recommended!
We picked Manuels because it was downtown and walking distance from our hotel. Very busy restaurant on a Friday night but good service. Menu was not your typical Tex mex which we loved. Had the house margueritas which seemed a bit weak.
Food and drinks were amazing. Get the chile del mar - it was incredible
Great food and service!
Great food. Great drinkks. Great service. We will be back
Very good food. Good service. Relaxed ambiance. Highly recommend.
Sunday brunch was fun with live music! The food was great and reasonably priced!! Sunday Funday
We were underwhelmed with the food at Manuel’s. The ambiance and service was great but the food was overly spicy and not remarkable nor deserving the higher prices they were charging. Overall a fine dining experience but with all the other options we might not go back.
Great recommendations and shrimp tacos were very refreshing
Fajitas were chewy totally not worth what I paid for. Food did not have flavor. I will not be going back
As a meeting planner, I often book multiple reservations at the same restaurant on different nights for different dinner groups. This time I made 2 reservations on 2 different nights for others, plus ended up taking 2 VIPs to dinner on the fly myself one of those nights. EVERY SINGLE GROUP including my table absolutely loved the food, ambiance, and service. BIG KUDOS go out to Austin T. Sp--- for his attentive, excellent service and great sense of humor. I have been to Manuel's many times over the years and they never fail!
We had a great Sunday brunch at Manuel’s on Congress. Terrific migas, breakfast tacos. And fresh fruit plate, live music. Good thing we made a reservation on Open Table - the place was full. Highly recommended!
Great food, service and atmosphere!
Entree delivery slower than expected. Refill of drinks (iced tea) also slower than anticipated. Otherwise, a good experience.
The Chile Rellanos Del Mar was exceptional, highly recommended.
Super yummy and friendly.
Pleasant atmosphere and attentive wait staff. Food was impressive overall, except ceviche that was bland. Excellent shrimp dish, good chile, and OK squash soup. I recommend Manuel's.
We had a nice experience. Delicious as always. Great brunch.
Food wasn’t good!
We always hit Manuel’s when downtown. Service was wonderful on New Year’s Eve. Poblano soup was our favorite this night. Highly recommended!
Manuel’s exceeded all of my expectations. The food was amazing. I had the chicken fajitas which were so good, and my boyfriend had the fish tacos that everyone wanted to take bites. The mole enchiladas truly are the best in Austin as advertised. The portions were huge and filling! Overall a delicious meal.
Best brunch in downtown Austin. Regional Mexican food and live music. We had a great brunch - mushroom omeletta, breakfast tacos, mole. Wonderful!
Dinner was absolutely amazing! Service was wonderful too. Highly recommend.
I love this place. It is an Austin treasure. Everything on the menu is fantastic, and the service is beyond great.
Warm beer and bland tacos
Poblano soup was very tasty!!
Excellent choice if you’re looking for fantastic Mexican cuisine. The food was excellent and service was prompt, helpful and met all of our needs. Did not disappoint.
