Nice restaurant. Food was ok, nothing extraordinary. Will I be back...probably not.
We were lucky to just randomly choose this place and end up there at happy hour. The atmosphere, price, and food was great. The waitress was just ok; I don’t think she was thrilled our bill would be quite low due to us ordering happy hour apps and me not drinking (with my teenage daughter). We’d go again, everyone else was super friendly and kind!
The restraunt had a brunch band . The food was delicious and our server was very kind and attentive.
Great food and atmosphere! We really enjoyed their drink specials.
Outstanding service! Loved the chile queso and the blue crab tacos. EVERYTHING was amazing, actually, including dessert. Service was out of this world. Definitely recommend this place.
Little bit of smell in the dining room area, like maybe a sewer issue beneath building (bathroom area wasn't worse, so I don't think the odor was emanating from there). Waitstaff blew a couple of no dairy requests. One guest powered through but the other waited an inordinately long time for a new entree. It had been a while for me at Manuel's. I think it'll be a while again. Subpar.
Manuel’s is great. This visit was an anomaly - server has waited on us multiple times and is great at his job, for sure. He definitely did all he could to remedy a mis-communication which resulted in me getting the wrong food - I asked about and ordered the sopa de elote (was it vegetarian?) and he understood me to say (or assumed I was saying) the elote relleno. He delivered it to me, I remarked that it wasn’t what I expected. He nicely offered to take it away and get me the soup, but I decided to just go with it and try something new. It’s the only item I’ve ever had there that was not so enjoyable. Oh well, I elected to keep it and eat it, so my mistake. My issue I suppose is that the soup that I thought I had ordered was maybe $6-$8 and the dish I was delivered was $17. I just left feeling like I had spent $10 more than I wanted to for dinner. I’m wondering if it would have been more appropriate to charge me the $6 or $8 I was expecting to spend for the $17 menu item? Again, server was super gracious, as he always is when we are there - it was my choice to keep the item and try it. Just left with a tad of a less great taste in my mouth than usual. Certainly not going to stop me from eating there!!!!
Went there for lunch and it was definitely a more upscale Mexican experience than the usual. Delicious soup to start, followed by enchiladas to die for. Would definitely visit again when in Austin.
The food was great. The service was meh. First margaritas we ordered were great, the second round, they tried to give us well tequila when we ordered patron. So that was disappointing.
Enjoyed a great dinner! We will definitely visit again when we are in Austin!
A very good dinner marred slightly by inconsistent staff, but overall a great way to experience what Austin dining has to offer.
Service was outstanding. Food was hot and delicious!
The food was ok. It didn’t poison me, but it didn’t exactly impress either. Definitely not worth the price tag. Torchy’s Tacos does as well, for much less.
Wait staff was excellent.
We went early (5:30 on Sunday), so it started off fairly quiet but got busy by the time we left. Waiter was amazing... very friendly & paid attn to details! Great variety of margaritas (hibiscus, pomegranate, prickly pear...and more). I’ll definitely be back...I’m a fan!! !
5-star casual dining experience. Friendly and efficient check-in, lively atmosphere. Our waiter, Manny, was extremely knowledgeable of menu and made excellent recommendations. Food was delicious, husband said the Chili Relleno del Mar was one of the best dishes he's ever had. Great experience all around.
Excellent Tex-Mex cuisine. Service was professional but slow at times. Would definitely return
The food was bland, but the service and live music are always exceptional.
Loved the ambiance, live music and $2 mimosas for brunch.
Food was not good. We had a group of 7 and 4 of us didn’t eat our tacos. Mine was so dry it was awful. I had ordered 2 and sent 1 back. It was a huge disappointment. Our server was nice and very helpful.
Dinner with my daughter - we’ve been coming to Manuels for over 25 years. Dinner was delicious as usual, but our waitress tonight was absolutely brilliant. The best service I’ve had in years!
Lively brunch - lovely to see Kenny Williams performing.
Mexican martini was too sweet. Margarita was ok, but pretty tart. Staff were nice. AC vent dripped on us. Food was fresh and not over seasoned.
Jackie was an excellent waitress
The best authentic Mexican food in austin!!
The vegetarian options here are just too bland. I’ve had the cheese enchiladas, chile relleno, and spinach enchiladas. They just need more flavor. Other restaurants do better.
It was so yummy! Great food and service! Specifically we loved all the gluten free options!!!
It was lunch during a convention so they were slammed. The beans were amazing food was good overall service was slow.
Went for Sunday brunch and live music!
Always great food and service!
I love Manuel's because the food is always good, the service is great (they will make recommendations) and it's always a positive experience. I tell people to go because this is a gem downtown Austin cannot lose!! You will love it!
Excellent food, cocktails, and service. One of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. Will go again if in the area.
Not a great experience. Food was too expensive for what we ate and the waiter was lousy.
Great food, friendlly efficient service (Patrick) and good value. What's not to like.
Took my girlfriend here prior to going to Esther's Follies. It was an excellent choice because our table was in a corner where we had some privacy and could talk without difficulty. The server was very attentive to our needs. The margaritas were good, though a tad expensive. The chips and salsa were tasty, especially the salsa, which we both enjoyed. We each ordered the same entree, though I chose the pork and she ordered veggies inside her poblano pepper. Neither of us left any on the plate. We declined dessert. A nice start to our evening.
Service was slow; but when I made the reservation online they asked if I was celebrating an event; we were! I wrote it was my friend's birthday. We even mentioned it to our server and we got no acknowledgement of our celebration. I asked the hostess when I left about it and she said "oh we don't so anything special for birthdays" then why do you even ask when someone fills out the reservation online. She showed me my reservation and sure enough; there it was. They were not the friendly of a staff either; seemed very unhappy. Our group will not be back; there are too many good texmex restaurants in Austin to put up with poor customer service.
We are from out of state and rarely get authentic Mexican food that we enjoy. We loved the drinks, the appetizers and our main dishes. The server was cheerful, quick and responsive. She was able to make slight changes for us which we very much appreciated. If you want a great tasting, filling and authentic Mexican meal, this is the place!
It had been a while since I dined at Manuel's. It was outstanding back a few years ago, and they did not disappoint. Professional and friendly service, food was fantastic and the drinks were awesome. An overall fantastic dining experience! Great job!
Sarah was an excellent server.
Service was very lackadaisical for a Friday night in Austin. We had to ask for a server to come to our table to take our order and didn’t see her again until we asked the manager to please bring us our check. We were one of 5 tables in the whole restaurant.
