Mantra India Ratings and Reviews
Service was very slow. My boss ordered onions on the side and chai for his dinner. he had to ask 3 times to get the onions and never got the chai. Then, when it came to getting the bill - it took forever! My boss eventually had to go to the front. The food, once ordered, came out very quickly and was very tasty.
Ambiance and service was good. But the food quality was somewhat disappointing. The gravy of Kashmiri Dum Aloo, Butter chicken and Kofta Malai tasted the same. The gravy of Lamb Roganjosh had too much tomato flavor (tangy). Overall the experience was unlike the previous times. Was kind of disappointed!
Me and my husband visited this place on his birthday. Being a hardcore delhite my husband doesn't approve of tandoori preparations very easily . But to my surprise he was extremely delighted with the chicken tikka here that he exclaimed,' finally the best Delhi standard tandoori chicken I have tasted in the US' . Butter chicken was sumptuous and of huge quantity! The garlic naan was a melt in the mouth . Service is exceptionally good . Credits to the manager who is on the toes and alert to everyone's requirements! Ambience is spacious ,simple and comfortable. Both me and my husband loved the place and are definitely recommending it to all our friends . I'm glad I chose this place for his Birthday
We love the food. However, my entrees were not hot. I don't mean spicy. I mean not warm enough when they came to the table.
We felt we had to wait a little bit too long. We waited more than 20 minutes to get our first dish.
Also, I prefer water with ice.
The food is delicious.
We all felt that the food was very good but extremely spicy (hot) even though we asked for very mild spice. The portions were large compared to most Indian places we have been to in the Bay area. The butter chicken was terrific, simple, flavorful, well prepared -- just wish I could eat it with all the heat. The breads were excellent, and the keema nan (with lamb) was among the best we have had, but we left much of uneaten because it was too spicy. The eggplant dish was superb and was the least spicy dish, but still quite hot. The soup of the day was too spicy hot to eat. By the way, one couple in our party was Indian, and they also said the food was too spicy. Good Indian food need not be soooo spicy to be good.
There were ample staff, but we had to work to flag them down to order, to get their attention to get more water, and to get the bill. The waiter was very pleasant but his english was not very clear. He could not explain what the vegi meal contained. I think they know that they have a communication issue, as the waiter read back our order to us, which was reassuring. However, they did not seem to get the not spicy request, or the cook was incapable of honoring it. After making our request, waiter said "a little spicy" and we said "no, please, less than a little spicy, not hot at all," which we said even though we know there would be some spice, but just not as much as that!
Food was really good but services were very mis managed and insanely late. Manager did give us 10% discount for that. Manager was very nice and trying hard to manage all the tables on his own and seems the servers were not able to coordinate.
They have completely revamped the interiors and have increased the menu pricing. Interiors look really good but still high prices are not justifiable. With these prices, I would rather go to Sakoon or Shivas, high-end neighboring restaurants. I used to love Park Baluchi because of its great food and good pricing. Pricing factor has gone!!
First, the good stuff; the Tandoori chicken dishes and the baked eggplant were great, and the accompanying rice was divine. Then the bad stuff; the Fish Pakora appetizer was made with fish that tasted many many days old; the service was atrocious as well as the timing of the plates, we looked at a couple plates of just chicken, which was brought out sizzling, but by the time several minutes later when the remaining dishes and rice came out the sizzle was long gone.
We have been enjoying the food here since last 3 years. Amritsari Paneer Tikka and Gobi Manchurian are our favorites. Food was light and non greasy. Wish we had the option to customize our bread basket. Garlic and butter Naan along with the Veg Korma and Balluchi daal left us craving for more. The waiters need more education about the dishes on the menu and the ingredients used, even though they have good customer service skills.
Very tasty and extensive buffet for lunch - the service is solid and the lunch choices were tasty and well prepared. All the platters and bowls were consistently refilled and served hot (or cold as the case may be). The buffet price also includes a drink too. Overall, very nice place to have Indian cuisine.
I went with my colleagues to have a heartfelt lunch. Must say, my tummy was more than happy with the variety, flavor and quality of food. I relished the "Achari Mutton" especially. Great ambiance to catch-up with old pals over great food on a lazy afternoon!! Recommend, recommend.
The service is very lacking, they only has two servers for the whole restaurant and they had to literally be flagged down for drink refills. The same servers were also the bartenders, they didn't make any of the cocktails correctly and kept asking questions like "is there ice in that" when my friend ordered a dirty martini.
We are not familiar with Indian food, but went for dinner with an Indian who lives in Kansas. She was our instructor. We really like the platter selection that gave us a chance try several different dishes. She was very happy with the food served and said it was really authentic Indian food.
My husband came late and the waiter served him quickly. He had chicken while we had vegetarian. The wait staff was great. I look forward to going again.
Excellent food with just a trace of the spiciness mentioned in previous diners' reviews. I don't particularly like super spicy food so I was a little hesitant but I needn't have worried. We started with the Gobi Manchurian and Pepper Crabcake, which were excellent choices to appreciate the beautiful spices with just a hint of heat in the Gobi Manchurian. The cauliflower florets dissolved on my fork as if I were eating a meat dish, and the crabcake couldn't have been any fresher. the downside to the crabcake is that you receive only one; at $9.99, I probably won't order it again, but I enjoyed the dish nonetheless. Dinner was Lamb Saag and Balluchi Chicken Curry. I would have loved a little more lamb with my spinach saag but at $13.99, I really shouldn't complain. The curry was perfection. Bottomline, eating at Park Balluchi reminded me of what I've been missing in Indian dishes at other restaurants. I'm looking forward to having lunch here next.
I went there for dinner, and between 4 of us ordered 4 entrees plus rice and naan. The food was very good, though everything was spicier than we expected. I wasn't bothered by it, but it was a little too much for some of our group. It would have been nice to know that mild wasn't the default at the time of ordering or we would have specified mild if possible.
The portions were on the small size, though 4 entrees was basically enough for the group, though a couple of us were still a little hungry afterwards. A friend picked up the bill, so I don't have a good sense of value for money, but based on the menu, I thought the prices were reasonable.
The server made me slightly uncomfortable, but it wasn't terrible. I felt like he meant well.
I'd definitely go back.
