At Mantra India we serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Our chefs are trained and well versed with North Indian Mughalai cuisine, and Punjabi traditional village style cooking. To compliment the classy ambiance and exotic foods, we also boast of an exceptional selection of cocktails, beers, fine wine, and traditional Indian beverages.
At Mantra India, we use natural, organic and fresh ingredients in our cooking. We source our vegetables and other ingredients locally through the local farmers network in and around Bay Area.

our second visit to Mantra India. We ate outside, very pleasant and good, genuine Indian cuisine, which we always enjoy. We will return.
Poor food quality and taste.
we went there, and service was bad, and food was bad.
we ordered the dinner option and what they told while ordering, was different from when they brought it.
then they said they will replace it , and we were done with dinner by the time they replaced it (who takes 30 mins to get a replacement vegetable).
Another opportunity to dine at this place after the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival. The food was delicious and packed with flavor. The staff was friendly and cordial but a bit slow. Didn't understand why because they weren't short on staff. There were plenty of them just standing around.
There was also a large family dining right next to us who had a small toddler that kept crying and screaming throughout our meal. They couldn't comfort their child thus making it almost unbearable for us. We couldn't stay for dessert. We finished our meal the same time as they did. We do understand that this can happen at any time.
We still would like to try their lunch buffet.
Our favorite Indian restaurant in the South Bay., and where we always take our family and friends. Great flavors, great presentation (try the biryanis!), friendly and very professional service.
It was nice
Delicious food with a good range of sauces and spices. Every dish is yummy! Naan is good too. Worth going every week.
The food is interesting but way too spicy. I love spicy food, but this was over the top!
This was actually our first outing at an Indian restaurant and we were pretty pleased! The food was delicious, although a wee bit spicier than we would normally prefer. The service was ok, they were attentive, but not quite a personable as we may like. Overall, we very much enjoyed it!
Very Authentic Indian food. If your looking for Tandoori chicken or meat out of the oven, this is not the place. Most dishes are in some kind of a sauce. One vegetable I love is eggplant and unfortunately, it came in a purée like, which was disappointing. The chicken curry was good. The sauce in the meat tandoori was quite hot. The menu does not breakdown the spiciness of the dishes nor can you ask the waiter of how spicy you wanted.
The place was ridiculously loud with kids crying on each table.
Our reservation was at 7:15, with an empty restaurant we were seated at 7:30.
Our order was taken close to 8 and snacks took 20 mins to be brought out.
Dinner order was served without serving spoons.
Service was ridiculous.
Food wasn't good.
Rice tasted stale.
I highly recommend the restaurant owner to take a look....your restaurant ruined our celebratory night.
The quality of the ingredients at the lunch buffet was very good but the taste and variety were inadequate. There were six rice dishes and only a couple of vegetables. Very disappointing. Their soda machine was broken so they substituted a salted lassi instead.
Four of us had: one vegetarian fixed dinner, one non-veg fixed dinner, goat curry, butter chicken, the street food chick peas, and naan. Everything was delicious; my favorite are the chickpeas - just enough heat to be able to savor the aromas, but not too hot. The butter chicken is a classic, and Mantra delivered a succulent dish with lots of sauce to dip the outstanding naan. They were out of the beer one diner was asking for, and it took a while for the main dishes to arrive, so we had to hurry out to catch our 8pm performance at the MVCPA, even though we had booked the table for 6:30 and arrived early, when it not busy at all yet. For a while, no one came round with water to refill our glasses, once the restaurant had filled up.
The servers looked surprised that we had a reservation, pressured us to order, and acted generally strange the entire time. The food and ambiance were both great.
This may be the best Indian cuisine buffet lunch I have ever had! Every dish was delicious, with special care taken in the balance of spices. The buffet area was spotlessly clean-- quite a challenge as guests drip masala and curry sauces between the chafing dishes and their plates. The table staff were very efficient, quickly clearing away plates for those who wanted to go back for "seconds." (I don't know how anyone could resist that second trip to the buffet!) I cook a lot of Indian cuisine dishes at home, since many Indian restaurants in our area have buffets that do not seem to pay much attention to details in the dishes' ingredients or in the presentation. Mantra India does pay attention to everything from seating to food to the quality of the guests' experience.
We like the food there a lot. Always get the booth we want since we usually go around 6:00 pm. But service isn’t as good as it could be all the time.
The food was overall good, presented well, and arrived in a timely fashion. The noise level was moderate, definitely quiet enough to have a conversation in low tones. The environment and the dishware were clean. My only reservation is the service; the waiters certainly did not engage with us; we had to flag down waiters to take our appetizer order, to take the main course order, to refill the water glasses, and to bring us the check. I don't recall anyone checking in about the quality of the food or if we needed anything else after the initial food delivery.
Really good Indian food. Wide variety, and most do not have nuts for the customers w/ nut allergies.
Really good Indian food
Excellent food and very knowledgeable staff
My wife and I have dined at Mantra India about five times now, and it has been a wonderful experience each of those times. The food is top-notch, and the service excellent. We recommend it highly.
The host was quite upset that I booked a table via Open table and got something sooner than the wait time he quoted us. So he “penalized” us by putting our 4 person reservation on an unusable 3 person table. Smirked along as we puzzled on how 2 adults and 2 kids could manage with only three seats. When we requested a four person table per the reservation, the response was basically along that’s what you get for using open table shorten your wait.
Finally a waiter had mercy on us and reseated us. Open table might want to discuss this with the restaurant manager.
We decided to try this India restaurant after walking through the Mountain View A La Carte & Art. The staff and service were excellent. The food was delicious and packed with flavors. We will be back when we're in the neighborhood. Would love to try their buffet.
We went for Easter Brunch. Very crowded and you didn’t see the waiter much but lots of variety and the price was great!!!! Highly recommend sitting outside. Very crowded inside.
The service was not like normal. Our drinks took longer than the appetizers and I just ordered a club soda. They didn't remember who ordered what and served us each other's food. Didn't put the dressing on the side of a friend's salad. (This was fixed) Forgot to bring my husbands chai until he reminded him. It was my 30th birthday and we choose to celebrate it at Matra India this was told in the reservation and by a friend when she got there and they made no acknowledgement of it.
Excellent food, and great variety. For lunch it's a buffet, and you can have as many servings as you want.
My favorite restaurant
The food is great. Service is slow and not that good. They also don’t seem to pay attention to the occasion or special event mentioned in the open table reservation. I had to go and tell them that this was a special birthday. This happened twice. But again the food is great.
We celebrated our baby’s 1st bday. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent, Avacado bhel and Kashmiri dum aloo were outstanding. Overall we had a great experience.
Impressed by the variety of choices. The food was well presented and prepared. The waiter explained every dish when ordered as well as when it arrived. More importantly, he made suggestions when asked about certain items. The Lamb Kebabs on skewers were delicious and cooked to perfection. There were also plenty of vegetarian dishes on the menu, which was a delight to see.
A little pricier than expected. Also too noisy, but food was good.
I did not have a great experience with the quality. The main dish was salty and they offered us free dessert. Would try again before deciding if I will visit again
Mantra is a consistently good restaurant with terrific food and good service. The chicken Dum Biriyani had a few small bone fragments in it, but everything else was so good.
food was cold and old i guess. biryani chicken was old
It was good though the site is a little tight.
The food was great
Very congested, bad food, poor choices in menu
Excellent service, wide buffet food selection both vegetarian and non-veg, but not top quality ingredients. Butter chicken was very good, but the lamb/goat was full of bones, and tough.
My friends and I loved it! Friendly wait staff and tasty food.
We ordered the amritsari paneer appetizer and weren't particularly impressed. The paneer wasn't marinated well and disn't have great flavors. The moong dal halwa was really delicious and would go back for that. Service was good.
