It's absolutely for special occasions and worth saving money for. Memorable experience for your palate. Pairing menu is a must but be prepared for a dd.
One of the best meals we have ever eaten. The only option is the tasting menu, we also added the beverage pairings to go with it. Every course was amazing, in both presentation and taste. The pairings were good, and not just wine, one course was paired with a sake and one with a beer. All of them excellent. The only downside is that it is quite expensive. The dinner is $275/pp plus pairings, plus a optional cheese course if you want it, plus cocktails. Not something most people can afford to do very often (once every 5-10 years or so). It is worth it to do at least once, if you enjoy fine dining and creative cuisines.
Amazing service, great food, and a perfect wine paring. My group and I have had good meals before, but Manresa is at the top of our list. Catered to our every need and request without question. Really appreciate Manresa making my girlfriend's birthday complete.
This was our 3rd time to join them for my wife's birthday dinner.
Unlike other creative cuisine chefs in bay area, David's thorough investigation for "Umami" is amazing. Menu plaques from Kagurazaka and Azabu, Tokyo will be pieces of
the evidences for his prestigious works.
We had a wonderful night. Thanks, David et al.
Too many seafood courses
Fantastic service from start to finish. The staff is exceptionally well trained and gracious. I've been to Manresa many times over the last ten years and the menu is a constantly changing thing, so come prepared to be surprised. I recommend showing up a little early and having one of their house cocktails, which are consistently excellent.
The service was amazing and Shay, the bartender, cannot be beat. He was the best part of our night. The food was just okay, which was disappointing. I like mushrooms and fish, but if you don't, I wouldn't spend the money. It's a chef's sampler menu, so you don't have a lot of choice. I can't even think of one dish that blew me away. I'm easy and I'll eat just about anything. The food wasn't bad, but for the money you spend, one would expect exceptional cuisine. On a positive note, they did make vegetarian dishes for my wife.
If you want a high end food dining experience, try Gary Danko up in SF, it's cheaper and the food is amazing.
In general, it is very good restaurant. The price level can be widely different depends on how much you are going to drink. I personally do not like the wine pairing menu that is sort of pricey in terms of quality. Especially, if you are not mix drinker you should order by glasses.
The best dining experience I've ever had.
Amazing dining experience. Everything was both beautiful and delicious. The staff were attentive, polite, and very knowledgeable.
My favorite courses were the garden / buckwheat noodle salad and the squab. My husband loved the wagyu beef course best. We had the wine pairing. We've had wine pairings at other Michelin restaurants before and this was the first one where we enjoyed every one.
We lucked out somehow and got invited to see the kitchen and what was happening behind the scenes. Lots of chefs hard at work back there.
There were 2 dishes that were really good, the Garden in particular was very special. But the other dishes left a little something to be desired and I feel that for that price point you want to be impressed by every dish.
The best I've ever had. Save your pennies though!
We have dined at Manresa many times over the years but have not been back since receiving their 3rd star. The difference definitely shines through in the food and service.
We had an incredible dining experience. The preparation and presentation of each course was perfect, surprising, creative, and authentic. We love manresa and feel fortunate to be able to dine at such as restaurant and that it is close by here in the South Bay.
Food is delicate and tasty. I expect more "wow" factor and more sophisticated food / ingredients . I didn't bother to ask for special dessert for B-day celebration which I mention in the beginning and tables around me got it. One bit disappointment is when a fly rested on my husband's cup.
Overall, the food, service and ambiance was ok. I don't think it deserves 3 Michelin stars. Came here due to its 3 Michelin star status but was rather was disappointed. Not to mention, the squab and wagyu were only bite sizes. Spending $350 per person at this restaurant is not worth it!
Service is impeccable, food is packed with amazing flavor and overall exceptional experience.
Most expensive meal I've ever had but also the most impressive dining experience as well. Almost a dozen courses over 3 hours showcased the extreme creativity and labor that went into each course of the tasting menu we enjoyed.
Manresa was able to easily accommodate our dietary restrictions and everyone involved in the service was well beyond other dining establishments. Waiters were attentive, had great personalities, were very helpful and made for a great overall experience.
The cocktails were very inventive, balanced, and tasty (I stuck with bourbon and other whiskeys)
We have been to a number of 3 Star Michelins. This one was no exception. Staff was terrific and the food a symphony of flavors and textures. Everyone should experience it at least once. Only complaint is that i did not find the wine pairing up to the food. Nothing bad, but nothing to blow us away.
Thoroughly enjoyed 5 hours of pampering with awesome food, warmth and hospitality from the very moment we arrived to the time we left.
Absolutely amazing. You will definitely leave full!
Excellent Service and Dining experience. Food was great.
This was an amazing over the top dining experience. One plate after another each intricately prepared, with exceptional and unique wine pairings.
Oh Manresa, thanks to you food has been dismal, bland, and boring since I had your tasting menu. The wine pairing was decadent and perfect and everything, EVERYTHING had a perfect balance of flavors. I've never enjoyed tomatoes but somehow Manresa made them savory and perfect. I can't imagine food will ever taste the same way again.
There's little point in my reviewing a restaurant rated three stars by Michelin. This is an amazing restaurant. I somewhat prefer it to the equally amazing French Laundry. If you have the $400 or so per person it will cost, it is definitely worth trying. The point of these restaurants is not about how much food you get for the money, but how differently their offerings make you think about food.
The courses are small but numerous. The wine pourings in the pairings are small, but also numerous. The wine list is full of wines I've never heard of (but that's true almost anywhere, for me.)
We had a great time, and will go again someday.
Absolutely awesome food and service! We had been to Manresa many years ago and were disappointed in some of the food and the service was just plain weird as the waiters marched through the dining room. Manresa is a completely different restaurant now. The food was fantastic - every course was delicious, creative, and beautiful. Some dishes were a bit on the salty side, but since we like salt that was fine for us. And Manresa has added cocktails to their offering instead of just very expensive wine - the Aloha cocktail was wonderful! The service was very professional although more relaxed, not stuffy and robotic like in the past. The only improvement I could suggest is having the courses come out a little more quickly as there were some gaps between dishes. I would highly recommend Manresa as a great special occasion place for someone who has the budget. It deserves its Michelin stars!
Overall a great dining experience, with creative and tasty food and great service. However, expectations for a 3 star restaurant (and associated price point) were higher. Only slightly better than 1 star restaurant plumed horse.
It was our wedding anniversary and we were looking for a romantic, memorable dinner, and we found it here. They are famous for their food, but it was great for a romantic dinner.
There is great thought put into the whole, experience, the menu and the service. Even thought it is very expensive dinner, it is extraordinary experience and it makes it worth it.
Absolutely smashing experience. Quite a treat for your taste buds !
Three Michelin stars, and certainly well worth every star. Every course was a culinary journey, and the service was second to none.
