Honestly food is always great, just the service was not so great this second time there. She seemed somewhat clueless and not uber attentive. Last time I was there the guy was SUPER helpful, guided us through the selections on the menu that were good for me and my allergies and made it easy for my boyfriend to still enjoy his food as well (he does not have allergies). It is crazy times just wish she was more attentive and helpful. Would still come back for the food though.
High quality food.
We had a good time:-)
Thank you see you again !
You are incredible!!! We come every thursday for date night :)
Very good as always!!!
The food and presentation here were amazing. The staff were very on top of things and very responsive to our questions. Can’t wait to come back!
Good quality meat for BBQ, you don't a lot but it's worth what you pay for. Outside seating in parking lot. Not much ambiance but we weren't expecting any either. It was good to get out and enjoy dinner with friends. Garlic Fried rice is a must have!
The foods quality is amazing and customer service is on point!!
Seated at 9:45 on Sat night, and was rushed to finish. They started clearing the tables and basically shut the restaurant down. We were left with 1 more table and it was only like 10:40... I understand the challenge of Covid, but if they want to close early they shouldn’t accept late reservations. It’s not like a cheap place after all. Just saying.
The best yakiniku in LA! The staff are incredible too.
It was excellent
I will definitely come back
The food was good.. we sat outside due to covid so they had portable burners that you could take outside. I picked meat that was pretty thin because it’s easier to cook and chew. It wasn’t crowded so we didn’t have to wait which was nice. The garlic fried rice is very good and tastes really authentic. I also really liked the spicy beef soup.
kobe meat menu ia great

Great place to catch up with friends. Have to cook your own food, but staff was really attentive and helpful when needed.
This place is absolutely delicious. Nothing more to say about the food beyond that. We ordered the US Kobe fixed menu and wasn't disappointed. For the ice cream at the end of the meal, the choices were Vanilla, Green Tea, or Lychee. Lychee was totally the winner.
For those concerned about eating out after the lockdown mess. This is the first restaurant we went to after the covid-19 lockdown. They took precautions to ensure there was spacing between people dining. I saw they cleaned up the table thoroughly after a group of people left. Didn't really have any concerns for that.
Would definitely recommend this place for some delicious eats.
Everything was tasty, but the highlight was the American wagyu ribeye--truly melt in the mouth.
Great choices, good atmosphere and all the meats are so tasty !
Great quality food! A bit smoky and small, but definitely worth it.
A must try when in the LA area. Great ambiance for a date. Impeccable service. And delicious, tender meats.
Even I have reservation, I still wait there for over 20mins cuz they let the walk-in customers have our table
The food is very interesting and tasty. The waiter was wonderful with us: charming and helpful. There was a lot of food served, in fact, we took food home. The food is very much like Korean BBQ, with higher quality meat served in Manpuku. The soup is especially delicious and the wine offerings were varied. I had a cold sake that was expensive but really exceptional. The only issue I have with the restaurant is the speed with which they serve you. You barely finish one course when the next course is delivered. Still, we had a great time and enjoyed our meal.
Not a place to relax. You cook your own food in a noisy, smoky small space. They push you out before you are ready to go-even before you have a chance to have desert-claiming that “people are waiting “. Tonight we got pushed out for this reason but no one was waiting to get in! Not very nice.
Consistent quality throughout the years, best Japanese BBQ in town.
We checked in with the host with our reservation and saw at least three parties who came after us get seated before us. It was frustrating.
This place has an exceptional experience and wonderful service that we keep coming back!
Great service, good food, nice price. Easy to make a reservation as well
It was as very busy and we felt we were kicked out from the restaurant after 90 min. I wish we could have more time after desert. We needed to stay at least for 2 hours.
Fast, attentive, friendly service.
Service was good very helpful and attentive! The price for the food was pretty steep. Quality was good but would I spend that kind of money there again probably not. Would of liked more options in our course. Overall still a good experience.
We were rushed to finish up our meal. $200 bill between two people. Come here often. Disappointed by lack of professionalism.
I don’t write many reviews but wow! So good! Everything is perfect.
This place is sooooo overpriced for the amount you get. I like the taste but the price is what killed it for me.
Fantastic service
This was my boyfriend’s first Japanese bbq experience, and he loved it!!
Every piece of meat tasted great, service attentive, beers ice-cold. We had a great time.
Some things to note - it has a rather intimate feel - it worked wonderfully for me and my bf, but I don’t think it works great for large parties. Also music was quite loud, although with good taste, which made us think twice about bringing back our parents in their 70s.
Amazing food
Our server was wonderful. Foods are good. It Lunch menu is very reasonable.
We had an amazing experience at Manpuku! The restaurant was clean. The foods were delicious. The service was great! Thank you for a memorable night.
Our waitress was very helpful and patient with our group. Food was delicious! I now know to order the larger platters of meat for next time. Those suckers go fast when with a group.
This is my son's favorite spot! If you are in the market for Japanese BBQ, this is your spot. Nestled in a little strip mall in the trendy Sawtelle neighborhood, this could easily be missed. You are best off to get a reservation (lunch and dinner), but the great news is valet parking is free right in front of the restaurant (a rarity on Sawtelle). Try the lunch specials- the beef is delicious, but so are the shrimp and veggies. We recommend the Rosu which is the thinly sliced ribeye. So delicious. Ask for bowls of steamed rice if you are not on the lunch combo, and they are happy to bring you ponzu sauce, lemon, or soy as needed. It's simple and delicious and you will definitely leave satisfied!!
Food is excellent. services as amazing.
Here is NO.1 Japanese BBQ place in LA.
I’ll be back soon.
Nice atmosphere. Prompt seating with reservation. Food smelled amazing. Too bad we never got to eat. As I do when making any reservation at a restaurant. I check the menu to see if it’s something we’d enjoy. The menu posted on Open Table looked like something we’d enjoy and the prices were comparable to that of our favorite Asian style BBQ, Gyu-Kaku. Once seated and looking over the menu I noticed a MAJOR discrepancy. The prices on the in store menu were in most cases doubled what was posted on Open Table. The price ranges we thought were $6.50-$15 for 3.5oz portions (similar to Gyu-Kaku) were really $12-$23 per 3.5oz portions. When I showed the waitress this major discrepancy she said she couldn’t explain why such a drastic difference. She spoke with the manager, neither could he. We decided to go to another BBQ place instead.
I frequent places like Fleming’s, Mastro’s, Del Frisco, etc... While I don’t mind spending money on good food. I didn’t like the blatant difference in prices. A couple dollars might have been ok. Doubled prices, no thanks.
Probably won’t ever return.
