The food was really good and the service was friendly. The gyro platter was outstanding! Also...try the baklava. It is sooo good!
A gem, very casual, authentic Greek diner menu. Excellent gyros, and lamb!
The food is great especially for the price!
We'd been to Manny's once before and were looking forward to this visit. It was, however, not up to the same level as our previous visit--though it is still a very good value for the price. The place was full, and there were only two servers trying to accommodate a large crowd. That meant that the quality of service suffered. One of our party was brought the wrong order, but the waiter scurried away so quickly that we could not tell him. He finally realized the problem. One of our party ordered one of the Greek specialties and found it rather ordinary. But Manny's is not bad by any means--just not in the first tier of Charleston restaurants.
Manny's was much, much better than I \had anticipated. Mistakenly, I had assumed it was a just a glorified bar with somewhat better than average bar food. I was wrong. Sunday brunch was delightful, tasty, and well priced.
The service was bad-awful. Our server was distracted and inattentive. The food was only OK and definitely overpriced for what it is. We had the wings appetizer and that was the best part of our meal (sad as this was our lowest expectation option). The meat calzone leaked grease all over the plate and was generally inedible. The Greek salad looked good on top, but the inside had lots of wilted/brownish lettuce. The dressing was too oily and bland. I don't think we'd go back for a meal. We might consider for delivery/takeout, and by trying other options.
We went with friends to see the Gin House Boys and got a very good table so could hear the band, yet still talk. We all ordered Greek-American food that was yummy but our waiter really 'knocked himself out' to give us great service - he and the band made the night! Nice selection of beers, too.
Wonderful local feel with good food. Sunday brunch is excellent!
We love Manny's and go there for dinner pretty often--it really is our neighborhood grill. This was our first time at brunch and we were really disappointed. They open at 11 and we had an 11:15 reservation. We were surprised to find only 2 occupied tables (each with 3 people) since it's usually hard to get seating at Sunday brunch anywhere in Charleston. I guess we learned why it was so empty: Two of our four meals were served after about 40 minutes, and a third came out about 5 minutes later. The last dish came out about 10 minutes after that (they sent out an order of hummus and pita during that last wait). When the order did come out, it had to be sent back because the eggs (on the breakfast pizza) were raw--clear and runny (in the meantime, two other tables that came in after us got served). We appreciated that our waitress didn't hide or ignore us, but acknowledged and apologized for the wait--she was great. They also didn't charge for that pizza--thank goodness. Nevertheless, we'd rather have good food served in a timely manner than free food and a spoiled brunch. I'm sure we'll be back for dinner, but probably will head to one of the many consistently good spots around Charleston for brunch next time.
We ordered the greek pizza and a greek salad. Great choice. I also love the gyros with greek potatoes
Love Mannys great locals spot great authentic Greek food great menu beautiful new look
Came for Easter brunch. We had great eggs Benedict and a free mimosa. Service was great. Recommend!
Delicious food and extremely attentive staff!
Always excellent food and efficient service. You can't go wrong with anything on this menu.
Was meeting up with some long lost friends and we had a really great time. Food was very good and service rocked !
Good food and excellent service. I would return.
Service was terrible. Food took 45 minutes to arrive after ordering. I ordered a grilled chicken pita with Greek potatoes. The pita was pathetic. Very little chicken, four or five small pieces of lettuce and two small pieces of diced tomato that I had to search for because it was all swimming in tzaziki sauce. Oh yeah, the potatoes were room temperature at best. Not a very impressive reboot. Won't be going back for good anytime soon. They also wouldn't take a gift card I had from before the fire due to a software change. Needless to say, I won't be going back to dine anytime soon.
I have tried Manny's on a couple of occasions. While food is typically good, service continues to make it not worth the visit. On my last attempt, I order an appetizer prior to my entire groups arrival to keep two small children happy. The rest of my party showed up, all ordered, and they received their appetizers before mine ever showed up. I finally asked and was told it would be out shortly. I told them it was no longer necessary because our food would be out shortly and received a snarky response from the waitress about how it was coming because our food was still being cooked. As we waited 45
minutes for our food, we overheard our waitress telling another table about specials. There were no specials written anywhere and she had said nothing to us. We asked the waitress and her response was that it is their usual happy hour specials they have Mon-Fri. We are not regulars so we asked what those are. Again with attitude, we learned that several items we would have ordered would have been 1/2 price. We received no apology or anything. Overall, I hadn't been back in a few months because of previous slow service and this experience was even worse.
My son took me to Manny's for Mother's Day. I made a reservation May 9 through the Manny's website and was linked to Open Table (under Larry - I am Larry's wife). A promotion was on the site that stated "Mother's Day - mothers eat 1/2 price brunch or dinner orders." My son had taken me there previous Mother's Days and this was the promotion we experienced then, also. The previous occasions I had ordered from the Brunch section or a Greek chicken platter from the Greek Specialties section of the menu. Son had ordered fish dinner baskets. The reservation was for 1pm as was the time frame on other Mother's Day visits to Manny's . This day we each ordered a Souvlaki platter under the Greek Specialties. When the bill was brought, it did not have the 1/2 off reduction for Mom. When questioned, the waitress brought the manager, who said the orders had to be from the brunch section to be valid; a dinner type order would have to be after 4pm ( even though there were no dinner hours specified for Sundays on the menu or online). When asked for the dinnertime selections, he pointed out the same menu and specifically mentioned the Greek Specialties. He said, " I do not make the rules. My job is to enforce them!" emphasizing "enforce" in a very offensive voice. He said, "My job is not to give away money!" His whole attitude was rude, representing extremely poor customer service. He questioned me about where I had seen the promotion, left for several minutes after I asked for his name on a card, and returned with a copy of the receipt on which he had written "Daniel" and "Open Table Mother's Day Promo Half of mom's Brunch". I checked the Manny's site about 2:30pm after returning home and the promotion had disappeared. I hope the $6.50 that Daniel made for Manny's by not giving half off one $12.99 Souvlaki platter is worth the loss of our patronage and possibly that of others. The food was only fair and only the sweet waitress Tia deserves praise.
Service was great. This is obviously a very popular local place. It was crowded and everyone was having a good time. The live music was nice but painfully loud. Our group could not talk to each other due to how loud the music was around us. It was not bad, but way too loud. Food is acceptable, not bad. But chips with my wrap were not scrip. If music was turned down, I would go back.
Our time was sensational at Manny's from start to finish. We made the reservation and ordered online . We had to meet a train and I called ahead to explain to the person in charge that we would like our meal as soon as we walked in, that's why the reservation and online order and they were very accommodating. We arrived 5 minutes late and everything was set up already and they brought the food out to us immediately. The food was excellent! We had the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer and our favorite meal gyros as an entre. The server didn't hover around bothering us he was there when we needed him though. It was quiet there, the atmoshere was conducive to talking and having a great time. No children were present and this was wonderful, well it was 9:45 - 10:15 at night.
I would recommend the restaurant to anyone -- tourist or local -- for a great meal and good ambiance.
We will be returning again and ordering online again ahead of time.
We went for a wine tasting...whites and red were poured in the same glass, but that was okay. The nachos were HORRID and the waitress was never around. I think she thought the bartender and wine presenter were waiting on us...food and service was horrible...not the norm.
The Gin House Boys always have a good following and any restaurant that books them should know, especially after repeated play dates, that extra wait staff is a good thing. Last week they must have been understaffed as our service was slow and the food was cool to cold upon delivery.
While we did have a table reserved for us, it was not what I requested. This will not prevent us from going back to Manny's though! We'll be back the next time the Gin House Boys play!
Happend to visit Manny's on a cold Saturday evening. Very quiet when we arrived but within an hour was very busy. Food was great, wings and gyros for everyone. Service, another story...table service was good, Melissa was a gem, kitchen service was...SLOW! Took 45 mins before wings arrived, another 15 for the gyros. Love Manny's food but the overall service level ( really slow kitchen) keeps us from visiting more often. Bingo began while we were eating so we stayed to enjoy and won $5 off our meal. Love you Manny's...but put a fire under the kitchen staff!
Enjoyed this meal quite a bit. Humus, olives, meat. Yummy
This is how long my daughter celebrates her special day (it used to be one week). First time in quite some time that we haven't had an all out BLOWOUT! Maybe because she's getting a little older, the low key celebration with a few friends (and her parents, by special proxy, I begged), was very relaxed and included a nice game of Trivia--we placed 3rd. Tasty wings, assorted apps, salads, gyros, Greek chicken, beer & wine, all followed by tequila shooters, and served by a great guy, Shannon (I hope that's right, no memory after 60).
GREAT TIMES WITH FAM & FRIENDS.
TWO OUT OF THREE DINNERS WERE COMPED DUE BAD FOOD - ONE CALZONE WAS BURNT & HAD AN OLIVE SIDE IN IT AND ONE BURGER HAS RANDOM SAUSAGE PARTS ON TOP
I really liked this place! It can be loud because they have tv's with football games going on but it's just a relaxed atmosphere. It's like you just go there to hang out with buddies that you never knew you had. The food is really good too and the service is pretty great! I wouldn't recommend this as a date night location by any means but it is definitely a place to go if you just want to get to just get away and forget about the craziness of your regular day to day life. Highly recommend!
I love Manny's Neighborhood Grill because they are so accommodating to us when we bring in our large groups. Our band always comes in for our members birthdays, and no matter if we bring 11 - 14 people, Manny's is happy to make a spot. I have always found that the food is good, fresh and the wait staff friendly too.
Our server had a few tables that night, and I was never asked if I wanted another drink, and when I did ask for a glass of water I never received it. Plus, the wings were not warm when we received them. They were good, but not warm.
Great beer and wine selection, live music and terrific Greek Good. What's not to like?
This is a fun place to go on a Friday night!
Wings and salad WINNER..GOOD........BINGO WINNER...AWESOME
So much fun relaxing with friends.
Something was OFF tonight in the kitchen, because 3 out of 5 orders didn't come out right, but our waitress made it RIGHT. As always, GOOD SERVICE AND GOOD BINGO.
WINGS WONDERFUL, Good times with friends, and BINGO. What a GREAT Wed. eve.
We went for the Valentines day special and as usual it was pretty good for the price. The place was packed and that is unusual but they had a decent band and although the staff seemed overloaded the would always make things right if you brought it to their attention. This place isn't that fancy but most of the food is good they have great Greek food and I like their pizza I don't recommend the wings. They have specials and discounts for rewards members. If you want to eat well and not go broke this place is for you.
We had Valentine's dinner here because we could make reservations. That should have been a clue! We were not greeted by our waiter who never shared his named for 20 MINUTES! Appetizers took 45 MINUTES! Unacceptable! I asked him what the "greek" caviar was and he told me he didn't know! My greek soup was served, over salted, under lemoned with the soup spilled over the rim. The bottle of wine we ordered arrived pre-opened! He poured it without being asked if we wanted to taste it! My gyro meat was dried out, over-cooked and chewy, no tomatoes, and the pita bread burned at the edges but the sandwich was cold! Baklava for dessert that couldn't be sliced thru with a knife! It was still frozen. Very disappointing. No hurry to return. :(
We really enjoyed the food and the band- The Gin House Boys!
Thanks for a fun evening!
We went for Valentines Day. We got right in with our reservation. The serve was prompt and came back and checked on us. The steaks were tough. The crab cakes were good. I will probably try again at a less busy time but will probably stay away from their steaks.
I have had good experiences at this restaurant in the past. Although this time we went on a busy Friday night, we had a reservation. We let the server know that we had a reservation but were told that there were no 4 person tables available. We were seated at a 3 person bar table and told that if something opened up, we could move. In the mean time, we moved a chair from a nearby bar table and ended up having our meal there. The food was good as usual but the service very slow that night.
We travel with a 7 year old and tend to feel most comfortable in more casual places. Manny's was an interesting combination of Greek, sports bar dn American food. I had the 3 for $20 special with duck as the main course. It was great, as was the baklava. Greek salad was a little weak but I don't begrudge them that.
