Mannino's never disappoints! The food, service and decor are all on point. The upstairs outside dining is the way to go weather permitting. The calamari, grilled pulpo and meatballs are all great appetizers. The chicken rollatini, veal chop are great specials.
The food was very good, but it was very noisy and it was expensive italian
Had a wonderful, relaxed dinner with four friends last night. Everything was perfect!
My first time at Manninos and I thought it was absolutely delicious! Can't wait to go back.
We had a reservation for 8 people, 6 of whom had never been there. Everyone was thrilled with the food, service and ambiance. Warm friendly greeting the minute we walked in. Delicious food. Fantastic waiter.
We will be back
I have dined here previously numerous times with friends and family, because of the food and atmosphere were to everone's liking. However, this past Saturday was a big disappointment. My recent experience there last Saturday started out with myself and my guest being told to wait at the bar despite having reservations, and it was a good 15 minutes there (this has never happened before). Then, we were seated downstairs at a table near the bar area and they air conditioning was high and the vent right above me, blowing directly on me. Brought this to my server's attention and she assured me management we turn it down. However, this did not happen. I then had to insist we be moved to which we were outside to one of the few tables overlooking Jericho Turnpike behind the bar; never happened before either and was not the best environment. The service and quality of food not so good as previous. Lastly, they started playing club music in the restaurant at such a high volume (and I do go to lounges and bars and am not a complainer) that I thought I was in a nightclub and not an Italian restaurant. It was so bad I and my GF had to finish quickly and leave. I almost never complain, and don't know if others have noticed the same thing; but under these circumstances I will not returning here. Very sad.
It’s starting to get to expensive don’t get me wrong but I can go buy the water and spend less.
Excellent food and service. Everyone enjoyed themselves
It was a birthday celebration
Eating outside was a bit noisy from the traffic
My friends have issues with stairs & so had to deal with the stairs or we couldn’t eat outdoors.
Otherwise it was a very enjoyable meal.
Good food in the neighborhood.
Truly some of the BEST Italian food on Long Island. Beautiful restaurant with a lively, attractive bar crowd, great service and an owner who is IN the kitchen making sure that the food is always AMAZING. The clams Oreganata are the best ever and rival anything from legendary Don Pepe's. Desserts are grand, creative and DELICIOUS!
We had such a nice time catching up over the years we haven’t seen each other. Laughed and drank and ate! Great atmosphere.
Service was attentive. Food was excellent. The fireworks display for our birthday celebration was incredible. Thank you.
Food was excellent as always
Everyone who works here is courteous and friendly. Food was excellent. Relaxing and enjoyable.
Good meal but pricey for what you get.
If you want the most exquisite steak around, eat at manninos
Took a friend to lunch for her birthday at Mannino's Commack. We were planning to sit outside but the weather was hot and humid so we asked the person seating us inside to find a table away from other diners. She seated us in the back garden room at a corner table and we were very comfortable keeping our distance from other diners. The food was delicious and the wait staff was very accommodating and friendly. My friend's birthday dessert came with a huge sparkler candle. It was awesome.
Always an outstanding experience!
David Our Server Was Amazing! Very Attentive And Gave Great Suggestions On What To Get.
Was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. Asked on reservation and conformation to be sure to celebrate and surprise my guest at dessert. Also requested main dining room - explained I was a regular at Oakdale but had never been to Commack.
Bottom line is worst experience. Sat at worst table smaller than child’s table in worst dining area near exit rather than the main beautiful dining room which I requested as a special birthday dinner and was told I would be accommodated graciously by the hostess that conformed my reservation by phone that day.
Service was blah, could barely understand waiters English, tried to clear table literally every 3-4 mins to push us out and dropped off dessert with no candle or fanfare.
Beyond disappointed / will never eat at either location again.
David our server was excellent and food was delish
David our server was very knowledgeable and courteous. Food was fantastic as usual. Never had a disappointing meal there.
One of my favorite restaurants in Suffolk - Always 5 Stars
Most notable is that prices at this restaurant have skyrocketed ! Crusty Bread w/Olive Oil Dip brought to the table was excellent. The Pear Salad and Mussels Marinara were fabulous. The Whole, Butterflied, Grilled Branzino with a side of Escarole & Beans was delicious. However, the service was quite poor. The server was abrupt and not very polite. She did not check on us periodically and was noticeably absent for most of the dinner.... we had to call her over for more wine etc.
Food was excelled slways! This time our server wasn’t the greatest. Never around and not very friendly. Other staff compensated for her by helping when we called.
Birthday celebration. They made the bday guest feel special.
We had dinner here at the recommendation of a friend. We liked it a lot. We did not have the best table in the house (in the back room, kind of crammed at a busy corner), but the service was good and the food was very good. We will definitely go back.
Maninos positions itself as a high-end restaurant.
FOOD: the chef makes dishes that are more complex than your avg Italian restaurant, with more nuance I ordered a healthy dish, it was drenched in oil w salt added. It was well-made, high-quality, just not to my personal taste. I think the avg person would like it more than I. I would’ve told them @ ordering, but was unaware of the degree of oil added, as it was a special, there wasn’t a description on the menu.
SERVICE: a dichotomy: the staff are attentive, and aim to serve. Better than average. However, there is inflexibility with rules, for ex, we wanted to place 1 order before taking the others bec an elderly person is a slow eater. They resisted, saying that all the orders had to be put in at once. Normally if you’re paying a premium price, I expect more flexibility.
The 2nd area with low flexibility was with regard to the same elderly person w a hat; he’s over 90 + likes to keep his hat on, admittedly not the best manners in a classic sense. However, today, in a suburban restaurant where some people are wearing T-shirts, the strong insistence that he remove the hat was distasteful, although it as well posted outside the restaurant, so I’ll leave it to your own judgment.
COST: I consider high priced restaurants to be the type that don’t nickel + dime you if you make minor changes, esp changes that don’t add to their cost. That wasn’t the case: extra $. Similarly, 2 seltzers cost $7. If I’m paying $45 for a fish fillet, they can take it a little easy on the other stuff.
If you like rich and heavy food, with some fancier treatment, this could be your place. I feel like simple and light Italian, at a moderate cost, and you like to take some liberties with your order or dress reasonably casually, this isn’t your place
Tuna was excellent
Birthdays Anniversaries and any celebrations are always enjoyable
Great service excellent food will be back
The layout of the place is a little odd. The main dining room is small, then there is an offshoot of the main dining room and an upstairs with tables just scattered around. The food was pretty good, way over priced for what it is. The only issue I had was that the waitresses are constantly asking if you are finished and want to take your plates away while you are still eating. I was asked at least 5 times if we were finished while we were still eating. It became annoying. I also ordered a dessert in advance for a special occasion and they brought out the incorrect item, but when I mentioned it they did give me one to bring home. I am not sure I will return, way over priced drinks and food.
Excellent service, food was just ok for the price but Ceasar salad was amazing as usual.
Went here for an office luncheon. Food was excellent and service was great. Can’t wait to go back!
Excellent food and service. Pricey and noisy. Overall would recommend!
3x a year my wife and her sisters plus the husbands go out for birthdays. It was my pick this year. I had been to Mannino's 1 other time and we catered food at Christmas as well.
This was great. My in-laws arrived first and asked for outdoor season. They put us upstairs on the deck to the left of the door. It was a beautiful night. Temp in 70's with a breeze. They had the awning out to block the sun which was out at 6:30. Once it got dark they retracted it and it was really nice with all the lights.
The food was excellent. Great specials but I actually ordered a 1/2 order of a pasta dish as my app. Orecchiette with crumbled sausage and broccoli Rabe. It was amazing. For dinner they had a twin lobster tail special where they cut the meat, chopped and mixed with shrimp and other seafood stuffing and then baked. Came with sautéed spinach which was really good.
I decided to try something different for desert. It was a mixed berry peanut butter Sunday. It was good, not great. I wouldn't get again but my double espresso was very good.
The drinks were good, plentiful and strong. I started with the "angry margarita.". Tasty but a little too syrupy for my taste. Switched to standby summer tanqueray and tonic. Strong yet great while sitting outdoors.
Some of the other things ordered at table which got high marks.
Striped Sea Bass
The place was packed and people were still arriving as we left around 9:15ish.
Word of advice. Bring your appetite and bring your checkbook.
Always delicious/ never disappoints- server Joe is awesome! Waitstaff delightful and friendly!
Especially enjoyed the oysters Rockefeller !!
